We had a real nice day today. We slept in again, and had a nice lazy morning. Paul had some plans to go out this afternoon with a friend from work. Plus my nephew came over to pick up a chair in the afternoon, and went out with Paul and his friend.
Keep my nephew in prayer if you think about it. He's a young 20yo man, who is very sweet and kind, but not walking with the Lord. Then last weekend he had a falling out with his two closest male friends and his girlfriend (his first and longest). When he told us about it today, he had tears in his eyes, he was so hurt. These were his first friends out here, and pretty much his only friends, and his first girlfriend. I know, he will get over it, and more than likely get back together with them. But I do pray that this would be a time of searching for him, and maybe he would seek after the Lord. We are trying to be there for him as much as possible, he lives closer to us than to the rest of my family. So we'll see what happens. I'm just so blessed he came over on the same day Paul had a 'guy' thing planned. He was really excited to be invited to go with them.
So, anyway, I had a crock-pot of spaghetti sauce cooking for the afternoon, and I baked a cake. I sent some food home with my nephew, who had to go. And Paul's friend stayed for dinner. It was really fun. I didn't have frosting for my cake, so with the idea of short, I decided to dust the cake with a mixture of baking cocoa and powdered sugar. What was funny was I had originally planned to make a chocolate cake and put a dusting of powdered sugar on it. But I couldn't find my box of chocolate cake mix (yes I use boxes to make my cakes ). All I could find was a box for a french vanilla cake, but that wouldn't have looked or tasted right with powdered sugar, but I new baking cocoa wasn't sweet enough. That's when short gave me the idea of mixing the two. Plus, she gave me the idea of using some cutouts on the cake to make designs. I decided to trace some fall cookie cutters I have on paper, and cut out the shapes, then I did the dusting over them. It really did turn out nice, and it tasted great. I have pictures to share. Oh, and after dinner I found the box of chocolate cake mix. When I unpacked it I guess I put it in a different area then the rest of my baking things. Oh, well, I'll just have to make that one another time.
Then, after that, we just had a relaxing evening at home. Paulie still has the sniffles and a sore throat, so we are not sure if we'll make church tomorrow. We might go and just have him sit with us. I hope all of you had a great day. Here are the pictures of my cake.
So creative and domestic! What's your crockpot recipe for spaghetti sauce? I have mine going with chili today. Smells so good! I hope you've had a nice Sunday. I updated RR, btw.

This looks so good. It's so nice when we don't have much and some how we end up with a nice creation. God is good!
Tomorrow is my blog anniversary, can't believe it will be one year.
Very, very nice. It's breakfast time, can I have a big piece with milk? :)
ps- our youngest Anna, was anxious to do a blog makeover so I let her go ahead and use the template you sent - she loves it! It was so easy to do. THANK YOU! You can see her at HSB: /ALadybug. Now my oldest one wants a makeover too, I'll get mine done - someday. :)
I really like the idea of the cutouts on top of the cake!!! My kids will like trying that one!! I may even use it for Thankgiving at my Mom's! Thanks, JoAnn! Once again, you inspire me!!!

This blog is so I can share my journey with the Lord, my journey as a wife and mother, and my journey as a homeschool mom. I pray that you will see the Lord in my life through happy and sad times, and that this blog glorifies the Lord.
This is an award and tag free zone, thank you.
