~ Woman's Bible Study ~

Posted in Ramblings
Sorry this is so late in updating, we have been surprisingly busy this week.  I did make it to the Woman's Bible Study on Tuesday night, and I enjoyed it greatly.  There were about 14 women in the group, and they were all very sweet and made me feel welcomed.  The leader of the group was very nice.  I have some copies of what they are talking about, and I will definitely be going next week.  I didn't make an instant friend or anything, and I only chatted afterward for a minute or two.  I just didn't know any of them, and I didn't have many to talk to.  But that's not saying I didn't feel welcomed, because I did.  So I will be going next week, and we'll see how it goes.  Thank you all for your prayers, concern and encouragement.

I also talked to the lady that runs the homeschool group out here.  It sounds like a great group.  She emailed me two of their newsletters.  They seem to have a lot of fun outings going on.  They have a teenager group and a 8-12 yo group.  They have a simple play time twice a month, but then some other big outings also.  They meet once a month for a planning session, and this month it's a Christmas party that we have been invited too.  They are having a book exchange/presents for the kids only, and at first I didn't think we would be able to go, no real finances for the books.  But then I was talking to my sister, and she had some gently used books, for the age groups of Sarah and Paulie, that she's giving me.    There is a small yearly fee to join, which I wasn't expecting.  So I'm not quite sure right now where we stand with that.  Paul and I are going over our budget/finances on Friday night, so I'll know more then.  I do pray we get to join.  The kids can go to the outings and such without joining, but I feel if I get with them a lot I should pay the due.  It's a small amount, and it helps for the website they want to start for the group and plates, cups etc... for parties and whatnot.  I'll let you know what Paul and I decide on Friday.

And, I did have a bit of a shock when I realized my daughter is considered in Jr. High.    She's in 6th grade, and when I was growing up, I thought Jr. High was 7th and 8th grade.  Though now my sister tells me it was 6th - 8th back when I was that age too.  Hmmm, maybe it's just denial that I don't want to remember that 6th grade is considered Jr. High.  Don't ask me why this is such a shock.  I guess, mainly, having to realize my little girl is growing up.  To think of her as elementary, kept her young.  To think of her as Jr. High, makes her seem older.  So now I'm having to adjust my thinking and try to accept her as a Jr. Higher.    Of course I haven't told her she's considered that.  She would just remind me of it all the time.

We have been surprisingly busy, which I am grateful for.  It is one of the reasons I was glad we moved, more things to do.  Last week I was thinking how we don't do a whole lot, and that no one ever calls.  Of course we are new out here and don't know that many people to call us.  Then this week, wow.  It was funny because I was clearing off our caller id, and when I saw the amount of calls, I just had to smile.  The Lord is awesome in His blessings to us.  We had a friend over to watch football on Monday, and he'll be here again tonight to watch football.  I had the bible study on Tuesday night, my nephew came over last night.  Then Saturday will be our church day again.  Paul will go to the men's bible study in the morning, and we'll go to the church service in the evening.  We really enjoyed that service, and we are going to try it again.

Lessons are going better.  I'm not feeling like I was the other day, thanks for your prayers.  We made some changes in our schedule, and I think that has helped.  It seemed to help yesterday, we'll see today.  I think the biggest thing was that the kids seemed to be rushing through their lessons, so they could either play video games (Paulie) or blog and chat online (Sarah).  And that rushing was making them get sloppy and not do their work properly.  Paul and I had always said that when the lessons were done, they were free to play and such.  Well having that freedom made them just rush through their work so they could play sooner.  So we took that away, and they have a set time before they can play.  And truly they don't get to do video games or online everyday anyway, we control their time greatly.  But it was just the thought to them that if they finished earlier, they could play sooner.  So we took that option away.  It doesn't matter how early they finish, they still can't ask to do those things (no guarantee I'll say yes anyway) until a certain time.  So now, no need to rush through their work, and with no rushing, better emotions all around.  It already seems like we are all more relaxed.  I pray this afternoon it goes well.  Thanks again for all your words of encouragement and reaching out to me through this time.  I have been truly blessed by it.  You are all dear friends to me.  Thanks for being there.

Sounds like you are in a very good place to be. I hope your finances allow for you to join the group. I am glad you are getting plugged in to the new church, too. Our old church was just 10 miles away and now that we've been going to one that is 3 miles away, I have noticed that I don't fill up the gas tank as much. That is a huge deal when you go 3 or 4 times a week as we were going. Have a great afternoon.

Yep, having a set time for school greatly reduces the "rushing" disease. School was out about 2pm at our house and if they finished ahead of time...well...go read or something. :-) As they got older, they didn't finish nearly as quickly, so it all worked out. My "rush" kid liked to get up at 6am and do his work as a 3rd or 4th grader and be finished by 10am! AUGH! I put a stop to that, too! Chores. LOL
