I feel like I should write something, though I don't feel like I have much to say. Well, actually that's not true, I do have a lot to say, but it's all jumbled in my head. When it does come out, if I blog about it, I'm sure it will be a long blog.
We finally did some lessons today. With me being sick last week, we missed three days of school. I only scheduled school this week through Wednesday, so it's already a short week. I know I could just stop school now, but I really feel to try to get the three days done this week. Then we'll be done until January 2nd. So far it's going fine. I think we'll be o.k. I'm not going to do any 'extra' work, just the basics with the kids, like today.
I don't normally bake to many cookies this time of year. I know, pretty different, huh? But my sister does tons of cookie baking, and always shared with us, so there really wasn't any need. But now that we are not right next door to each other, and can't easily share cookies, I need to make some myself. I'm kind of looking forward to it. I've never done a check off list on my blog before, but I guess I will this time.
These are the cookies I want to try to make this year: Chocolate Chip Double Batch
Snickerdoodle Chocolate/Peanut Butter Bar Double Batch
Sugar cookie
Gingerbread cookie
OK, so there is one candy type dessert in there. We went through all my chocolate/peanut butter snacks already, so I have to make more of them. Plus people at Paul's work have been asking for my cookies and snacks, so I need to make enough for Paul to take to work too. I'll probably try to do the chocolate chip cookies tomorrow, at least. I promised those to Paulie last week and never got around to making them because of the flu. So I'll do those first.
Then I'm trying to decide if I want to do my drop sugar cookie or the rolled out kind with cookie cutters. I really don't like rolling out cookie, well to tell you the truth any, kind of dough. I can never roll it out right. Whether it's for a pie crust or cookies, I'm just not real good at it. Plus, truthfully, with Sarah's allergy to raw eggs, rolling out cookie dough and the clean up afterward (to make sure there is no raw dough around) just seems like to much. But we'll see. It's night time now, and I'm tired, so maybe that's why I don't want to do it.
I'm also thinking of trying gingerbread cookies for the first time. I bought cookie cutters and everything for it. But I'll have to see, again the whole rolling out thing. Plus, I'm looking for a good recipe. I want a 'soft' gingerbread cookie. Paulie doesn't eat real hard cookies, so I want to make sure the cookie doesn't harden up too much. I'll do all the easy things first. The chocolate/peanut butter ones are the easiest, and so are the chocolate chip. That's why I think I'll do those tomorrow.
Well, ok, so I guess I did have some things to say. This was longer than I thought it would be. I'll try to cross off my list tomorrow and later this week as I get things baked. We'll see how far I actually get.
The two of us will be baking together tomorrow then! Rolling out dough is not one of my favorites either, but the kids love to decorate the cookies. I wish I had a pastry mat. I need to find one. I hope you can enjoy your baking tomorrow.

Joann, I have a really delicious drop sugar cookie recipe if you are interested. Well, they are sort of drop cookies -- you roll them in sugar before baking. They just melt in your mouth :o)

I don't bake alot either, but i am planning to try my first gingerbread cookies this week. I promised the boys we'd try and they'll hold me to it! I haven't even looked for a recipe yet.
We're still plugging away at school, too, though it is going very slowly today. Honeslty, i just want to kick them outside! But they're still working at the table amidst fussing at each other.
Sounds like fun. I promise tomorrow I will post my gingerbread man recipe that I love. Remember ...scribbles. That way you don't feel guilty for not re-rolling them. lol I hope we can talk in the next day or so if your not too busy.
Sounds like you are getting a lot done! One of my kids is allergic to peanuts. We are all trained in the proper way to make a pbj so there is no cross contamination so I totally understand not wanting to make cutouts. By the way, we have decided to switch churches and I feel total peace about it.

Do you have a recipe for candy canes? My second youngest is allergic to red dye #40 (main ingredient in candy canes) so I thought about making him some white ones.
I am glad you are feeling better. We started our baking last evening, still have a long ways with it. I have been so tired here lately that I woke up with a bad headache today, so I decided was about time I took some time for my self, blogging time;)
Allrecipes.com has a great recipe for Big Soft Ginger Cookies. No rolling pin required. They're very chewy. I enjoy the flavor of gingerbread cookies, but not the crunch, so these are great for me! Happy Baking, I have yet to get started myself! :(
This blog is so I can share my journey with the Lord, my journey as a wife and mother, and my journey as a homeschool mom. I pray that you will see the Lord in my life through happy and sad times, and that this blog glorifies the Lord.
