We are having a great weekend. Yesterday was a very lazy day, and we enjoyed it immensely. We went to church last night, and they had a beautiful Christmas service. The message was great, speaking of why Jesus came, to die for our sins. It was a great message for those who probably aren't walking with the Lord that show up on just Christmas services.
We have made friends with a couple there that has a son Paulie's age, they get along great. They have a daughter named Sarah too, but she's only 6yo, not 12 like my Sarah. But we have all just 'clicked'. They invited us over for Christmas Eve dinner, and we are very excited to go. We are suppose to have a snow storm tomorrow, but they live close, so we should be o.k. I'm just so excited that we have made such good friends so quickly.
We were going to surprise my parents on Christmas Eve and just show up at their house. The drive out there can be very dangerous if bad weather comes in. Well, as we were trying to decide if we should go on Monday or not, we looked at our weather forecast and sure enough, a snow storm is coming that day. So we are back to our original plans, and spending that day with friends. It will be good.
Today we are going to the movies. We rarely get out to the movie theater. The expense is the major factor, but also the fact that there are not that many movies we would allow our kids to see. But we got some money for Christmas from my Aunt, so that is paying for it. It will be fun. The kids are always excited going to the movie theater. After that there are a few things we need to pick up at the store. We might actually go to Wal-mart. I know how crazy it will be, and nothing we have to pick up is presents or anything. Just some baking things and a couple of odds and ends. I just think it might be fun to watch everyone running around shopping like crazy. We'll see how we feel after the movie.
So that's what we've been up to. I hope every one of you are having a great weekend. I will be putting this same entry in my other blog for family to read, but I really like writing here, so I put it here first. Just want to let you know so you don't have to 'double' read.
So happy to hear yall have made friends so quickly in the new church. Having a church family has made a world of difference for me here since I moved back in 2003. Christmas blessings to you, my friend! Your weekend sounded nice and relaxing. Will you go to your family's on Christmas day then? I will pray the weather cooperates. I totally understand about the weather making travel too adventurous.Today I will be home trying to get the kids to help clean up yesterday's party mess. Then we will go to my mom's, a local trip.
