Yes, the Lord has blessed us again. I mean, I want to make sure to say, that even if we don't receive any monetary type things, I know the Lord is still blessing us. But He has given us to many 'things' lately I just have to share them.
First, we had a great time at the movies. Though Paul and I ate to much popcorn and got stomach aches. The kids were fine, it was just us adults. Well I guess that shows the kids still in us. We also went to Wal-mart, and it really wasn't that bad. We got to bless the kids with some more things. Paul has really enjoyed doing that. It's truly been a blessing.
So last night we are home, just doing our thing, it was around 8:00pm. There was a knock on the door, and by the time Paul opened the door he saw a car driving away down the road. On our doorstep was a big box of food, a smaller box, sparkling cider and candy canes. When we got the boxes inside, we opened up the smaller box and there was a smoked turkey in it. All cooked, wrapped and everything, all I have to do is put it in the oven tomorrow for 2 hours. We are still stunned by it. I didn't get a picture of it sitting on the doorstep, I didn't think about it. But I did get some pictures of it on our table. I have also included a picture of our tree and lights by our fireplace.
We canceled our plans tonight. It's been snowing since last night. We have anywhere from 7-10 inches out there. No plows have been out, and it started getting real windy. Even though our friends only live about 5 minutes away, we just didn't want to chance it. Paul had run to the store earlier today and a drive that should have taken him 10-15 minutes took over an hour. We felt it would be safer to stay home. We've had a great time today anyway. I baked my pumpkin pie and apple crisp today. We did our web cam with my family for a little bit. Paul and the kids have tried to keep up with the snow shoveling, even with our neighbor plowing for us. But after an hour or so, it couldn't even tell it had been plowed. So we tried again tonight, and did o.k., but it was very hard to shovel. Now we are just relaxing the rest of the evening. All our Christmas lights are on, we are snug inside the house and we are watching some Christmas movies. It's a blessed and fun day. I pray you are all doing great and having a very blessed day too.
Oh, wow, JoAnn!!! I am so happy for you. I am so thankful that God is using people to help you out in this time of need. I think I've said this before, but it's really hard being so far away and knowing a friend is in need. I'm just so thankful that there are people close by that are willing to help. I'm sorry you couldn't go to your friend's house, but I'm glad you didn't. It sounds so treacherous. We try to stay in when it gets bad too. A couple years ago we got snowed in for days. 18 inches dumped on us and Dayton is not really use to that. Our suburb is real slow to plow streets. Well, that time it was worse than usual. They finally plowed us out 4 days after the snow. Hubby had to miss work and everything. Luckily his brother lived around the corner and they had to plow his street because of an emergency. He owned a 4x4 and was able to bring us milk since we couldn't even go out and get it.
Wow again!! I'm so thrilled for you-it sounds like you had a wonderful Christmas. When I was growing up, there was a year that someone left us a big box of food before Thanksgiving. I still remember the wonder of that. Merry Christmas! Holly
Oh, I have so enjoyed seeing and hearing about all your backdoor provisions from our Lord !!! [0= God is so GOOD !!! All the time...all the time God IS good ! I loved see your tree. As you saw we ended up having a tree. I talked to a pastor friend and it helped me not fret. I will have to share with you later the verses he gave from Romans. [0= ((HUGS)) I am around and doing not too much today. The house shouldn't be too much to tidy up for your friends who are coming over today for dinner. Hope to talk to you soon.
Blessings and ((HUGS)) my friend
Love Ya
In Him<><
