We had a pretty good day. The weather was still pretty snowy out here. Well, actually I couldn't tell if it was snowing or just the wind blowing the snow on the ground all around. I'm sure we had gusts up to 50MPH, it was so strong. But the sun came out once and a while, that was nice. And now the wind is gone. They are saying we are suppose to get any where from 2 to 8 more inches anytime tonight through tomorrow. I so pray we don't get that. Thankfully our neighbor came over today and plowed our driveway out for us. It was drifted and covered with snow. It looks so good now. What a blessing that was for us.
We watched the space shuttle launch today. We have NASA TV on our satellite tv, so we get to see the whole process. The astronauts getting their gear on, walking to the shuttle, going in and getting hooked up to everything. It's really fun to watch. We always like having that as our science. We'll be watching that station off and on now for the next two weeks. We like watching the space walks live and other things. It's fun.
Paul got home safely tonight, always a blessing, especially with all this snow. Paul and I had a good talk about what he thinks on some topics I've been reading lately around the blogsphere. I still have to watch what I read sometimes. I hear what other women do, and I start getting confused on what the Lord has called me to do. I've been thinking about it, talking with the Lord about it and I needed to talk with Paul about it, to get back on course. I really like reading other blogs but if I'm not careful I get confused when I read what others are doing and think that is the way I should be doing it. I feel better now talking with Paul. We are and always have been on the same page, it was just good to hear it again and confirm it.
Not much else happened today. I hope you have all had a great day.
I'm so glad your neighbor was able to plow your driveway for you. I know you are getting tired of all that shovelling.
I hope it wasn't my post that made you feel bad. I certainly didn't want to do that. I was just responding to some people who have been questioning my wardrobe choices and read my blog.
That NASA tv thing sounds like something my two younger boys would love. They play space shuttle all the time and love to build spaceships with their legos.
Husbands, good ones, are such a blessing. I have been reminded more than once of this, this week. You are so wise to talk to him about these things, because he is ultimately the one (and God) you want to please. Yes, I have had to put blinders on in blogland at times. Not because what they say is bad, but it could derail me. I am very careful of what blogs I visit. Sometimes I think I am too narrowly focused, but then it has been awhile since I've felt "derailed" by something, so I think I am doing a good job! I will pray for snow relief to come your way.
Jenn
Now you have me wanting to hook our TV up and get the NASA channel! How cool is that!
It is easy to want to do things because others are doing them. Like baking bread.........i have wanted to do that for years, but the timing wasn't right. I finally let it go and then my husband decided that it would be a good thing for us to pursue. God will lead us when and where He wills in His way. His plan is unique for each family and there are different seasons for different things.
I'm glad you are feeling better after talking to Paul. Just try to remember many homeschoolers tend to have very strong opinions and very strong convictions about what they are doing. We all live in a dog eat dog world and homeschoolers/ Christians especially come under fire constantly. Whenever we turn around we are having to defend our decision to do what we are doing. So it make sense that sometimes homeschoolers can get really vocal (especially in a safe place like Blogland) about their convictions. Just try to ignore it (I know it's hard) because you have to do what is right for you and your family. Unless something is spelled out in the Bible, then usually it is an opinion and God does not have us follow other's opinions, he has us follow Him and that can be different for different people. Remember even Peter and Paul could not always agree on everything. So, please, stop worrying. :)
It's so nice to see other people with more snow than us sometimes - I don't feel alone. lol That is really great that you and your husband are on the same page and you can talk out matters with him - I'm sure he appreciates it too! The makings of a happy marriage. :)
For storing bread, I just use ziploc bags - nothing fancy. :)
I agree with Paul in that you do have to be careful of what you come across. The first two years I homeschooled I was forever crying thinking that all the other homeschool moms were more organized than me and into better things.
I learned that some of what they do wouldn't work for my kids so I had to learn to read through the ideas but only pick out what I knew was best for my kids. I still envy all those moms and dads that are better organized and have neater crafts, but I now understand what the Lord wants me to do for my kids.
Oh you poor thing! All that snow and wind. We have such a quiet place to live, I guess. I hope the snow passes you by. It's wonderful to have a neighbor with a snow plow.
Love, Mama Karen
This blog is so I can share my journey with the Lord, my journey as a wife and mother, and my journey as a homeschool mom. I pray that you will see the Lord in my life through happy and sad times, and that this blog glorifies the Lord.
This is an award and tag free zone, thank you.
