I feel like our lives have been so mellow and not much happening, that I don't have much to write about. But it's been a few days since I've written anything, so I thought I would try to come up with something to say.
We've had a good weekend. Mellow, not much going on. We did some errands together Friday night and Saturday and of course went to church on Saturday night. We have had more sun and so far no snow. The temperatures have been in the mid 30's so things have started melting. With sun and things melting, it feels pretty good right now. I hope this weather keeps up.
I'm getting ready to go through our homeschool bookshelf and re-arrange things. Right now I have two shelfs for my books and the kids manipulative's and then the kids each have a shelf. But I have a lot of books, workbooks and things that we hardly use, but yet I don't want to get rid of. I'm a bit of a pack rat, and stand on the motto of 'but we might need it someday'. So with that fact, and the thought of all the good information that can be in the books, I have a really hard time getting rid of them. So I'm not sure how I'm going to go about it. Maybe box up some of it, and if I we don't use it in a while, then get rid of it. But the main thing I want to do is re-arrange it enough so that I can have one shelf that is all books. No workbooks, and not the books we are currently going through, but all the history, science and biographical books we have. That way we can easily find a book for a read-aloud, or when Paulie goes on to a new book or even a book Paul might want to read to the kids in the evening. I'll have to take some before and after pictures to share with you, when I get it started.
We are watching some military history shows today. Mainly Paul and I, as some of them can get quite graphic. Though we do let the kids see some of the non-graphic parts and talk about the wars (today's is mainly about WWII). Paul is truly the history teacher around here. He knows so much about history, and he is starting to get me into it. I've never been a big history buff, well, forget 'buff', I've just never really gotten into history. But after being married to a history buff for over 13 years, I have to say that it's starting rub off on me.
So that has been our mellow, not much really going on, weekend. I hope everyone is having a great weekend too.
I think we need mellow weekends. I love history, but am not sure I qualify as a buff. My grandfather is. He lived WWII. I am more of a science buff. Ryan and I are getting ready to watch Nature. That's my show. OK and Jane Austin tonight. :-) I can't wait to see your after pictures. I am the same way about books. It is hard to let them go...

Hey JoAnn, I am glad you are enjoying the "boringness" of your winter. I'm still really reallllly jealous of all your snow! We have had a little in the past few days. Along with an artic blast of freezing weather. today the wind was screaming and blowing so fast and it went from about 17 deg. this morning to about 6 deg. by late afternoon. Yuck for that cold of weather, but bring on the snow! Have a really good week. Tammy
You are like me, if I don't watch out we can have a lot in one place. I do have some books in boxes too, mainly because Anna thinks she wants to use them with her children.
We had a nice weekend, last week was way too busy. Wow, we are colder than you today. I am thinking this is the coldest weekend we had this winter so far.
Blessings and prayers,
((((hugs)))

Thanks for the prayer. I also have a ton of books. I have been grouping them by category and holiday. I have way too many.
My husband loves history and knows about everything. I am going to have him as our history teacher too;p

I understand the pack-rat problem. We are contemplating a move and I do not want to take all of this stuff with us! I already put some get-rid of boxes together. Have a great Monday.

I am glad to read that you are not getting anymore snow. You all do not need it. We have freezing weather, and I find myself not wanting to go outside. I have been sitting and eating - not a good combination. (-:
Blessings, Mama Karen
Sometimes, those mellow times are so great. We just don't seem to have enough. Great that things are going so good. Thanks for stopping and leaving me comments. That is always a fun thing. I think that sometimes, everyday boring posts, let people know that we are all alike. Your a blessing to me.
Hugs,
Christy
Speaking of rearranging things... I need to do that! We have lost two Awana books, a bible and some other papers! I need to get organized with my homeschool stuff. Maybe next week I'll have time - we're on vacation then.
I like weekends like that. I too have to go through my shelves every so often. I have four boxes in my closet that I keep as back up workbooks. If it doesn't fit in those box categories, it goes. Otherwise I'd have to rent a library.
Glad you had a nice weekend. It is just way to cold for me there. It gets into the 50's here and I am freezing. LOL . Thank God for warmer weather on the way. Have a blessed week.

Your mellow weekend sounds wonderful! I love the days when I don't have 5 places I HAVE to be or things that HAVE to be done, and we can just do. It's not like I'm lacking for projects around the house! I'm not even going to comment on my bookshelves (or the packrat part).
Our snow is melting too. We are getting excited for spring, but I have a feeling it isn't here yet!
Mellow week ends are nice. [0= Friday and Saturday I was listening to the Romance tool box conference by Cindy Rushton. Lots of fun there. Sunday was quiet. The snow is melting and it was REAL slushy for a while. We are TRYING to get the plow company to plow the last little so we can get up and down the steepest part of the road. /o8
Just to have a couple of down days! What a blessing! Even Jesus snuck away to rest!! What a concept! LOL
Glad to hear that you are ok...
Love and prayers,
Patti
Hey, you are more than welcome to pass some of that mellow down to my family. LOL. Thank you so much for your faithful prayers for our family. Hopefully since mom's surgery went great, things will calm down a bit. At the end of this month I am going through a Great Banquet at church. It is a 72 hour retreat...kinda like a lock-in at the church. No cell phones, telephones, tvs, computers, clocks....nothinig from the outside world. Just me, other believers, and the Lord. I can't wait. I will definitely share about the experience on my blog. Hope the rest of your week is great.
This blog is so I can share my journey with the Lord, my journey as a wife and mother, and my journey as a homeschool mom. I pray that you will see the Lord in my life through happy and sad times, and that this blog glorifies the Lord.
This is an award and tag free zone, thank you.
