Yep, we woke up this morning to more snow. It was probably an inch, maybe two, so it wasn't much, but it's still a bummer to see. We were finally seeing grass, roads and hearing birds. It is slowly starting to melt already. The question now is, do we shovel, or let it melt? Our neighbors have shoveled, but truly, we are thinking of letting ours melt. Paulie can't help Sarah right now with it, because of his cold. So I would have to go out there, or Paul later tonight. But it's only in the low 30's and its very windy, so I don't particularly want Sarah or I out there in the cold wind. I guess we can leave it until tomorrow, and see what happens. How many more days until spring? Of course our spring up here never starts that early.
Before today, I had actually seen my garden plot in the back yard. I guess the people who use to live here had a small plot, they've got a nice wood border around it, so I'm just going to use that spot. I was going to check on it in a couple of days, measure it etc..., but it looks like that won't be happening any time soon. I do have an idea of what we want to grow. Nothing big or fancy, we aren't homesteaders or trying to get all our vegetables from the garden. We just want to have some fun, and have a couple of things. So we are thinking, green beans (which hardly ever make it into the house, Paul and Sarah eat them right off the plant ), salad lettuce, carrots, green onions, tomatoes and green pepper. I'm also going to try strawberries again this year, just not sure where. We don't really eat tomatoes, but I was thinking of growing some, dice them up then freeze them. That way I could put them in our pasta sauce and salsa. We'll see how it goes. Short gave me a really cool gardening tip I want to try. She said after I've tilled the soil, and the plants are in, put down wet, cut up newspaper and then grass clippings on the newspaper. It will help keep the weeds down, and it will be mulched up like compost at the end of the season. I can't wait to try it. It's cheap and easy, and if it keeps me from having to pull weeds, I am all for it. So we'll see what happens, if the snow ever does completely go away and I get to see where my garden is suppose to be.
Besides the snow, not much happened today. School as usual, that went surprisingly smooth. Paulie is now into a full blown cold, but we are still doing our lessons. I figure if he can run around the house playing with his toys, he is well enough to do lessons. But I do feel for the poor boy, he is so stuffy. He's not a medicine boy, so unless it's from a doctor or really needed, we don't even try to give him any. But he's fine, no fever, and he is his complete, normal self, except for a really stuffy nose and occasional cough.
Tonight is my ladies bible study. That is one of the reasons I'm getting an entry put out now, because I won't be home tonight. I finished the chapter yesterday, and except for going out in the snow, I'm really looking forward to tonight. I wonder sometimes if last week was just a fluke, and it won't be as encouraging this week. But I know that's not true. It will be a good time I'm sure.
Not much else planned for the rest of the week. Maybe boys haircuts this weekend, and of course church, but all in all, it will be pretty mellow. But that is fine. I can always use some mellow days. Spring and summer is coming, and we do tend to get busy during those months. Plus, with homeschool playgroup once a week, I'll have to get use to that. I know its only one day, but I'm not use to having to go out every week. But, just like tonight, it's something I'm really looking forward too, and its fun, so it won't be to hard to get use too.
OK, I need to get a quick dinner thrown together and head out the door soon. I pray everyone has a blessed evening and a great tomorrow.
I hope that the snow melts really fast and you can start thinking about your garden. The veggies that you plan to plant sound really good - like a tossed salad. I love strawberries and fresh from the garden is the best.
I pray that your bible study goes well and that you receive continued encouragement from the group.
Blessings, Mama Karen
Hello there. Oh, I like your garden plans. It doesn't have to be over the top to learn a lot. I am going to do some simple plantings this year, too. The kids just think it is so cool! You are a great mom.

Snow? What's that??? lol. Hope you are doing well. I've been slow on the blogging lately. I'm getting ready to uncover a new site for homeschoolers. It's not a community site, but a very educational sites for all home educators. Be looking for the announcement come April 1st. Ohhh.... I will be holding a contest for bloggers during that week, too. Fun stuff!
This blog is so I can share my journey with the Lord, my journey as a wife and mother, and my journey as a homeschool mom. I pray that you will see the Lord in my life through happy and sad times, and that this blog glorifies the Lord.
This is an award and tag free zone, thank you.
