~ My day ~

Posted in Ramblings
It's been quite a day today.  Well, actually it was quite a morning, thankfully things slowed down this afternoon.

Paul is having a friend over tonight to watch basketball.  So I decided to make some chili, something easy that can sit in a crock pot all day.  And the guys can eat while watching the game.  So I got that started, then I had to make some salsa.  I mean come on, the guys need lots of different munchies right.    Then I decided we needed something sweet for the guys to eat.  So I made my pan chocolate chip cookies.  By this time it was lunch time.  But I felt good, everything was done and the kids and I had the afternoon free.

Then, as Sarah was finishing up her lunch, her nose started bleeding.  No big deal, get a tissue things will be fine.  Well then her throat started getting sore from the blood (which usually by this time the bleeding has stopped).  So we tried the pinching the nose, and the bleeding seemed to get worse.    As it was going on 25-30 minutes I started getting a bit worried.  So I called my sister (I've always called her when I have medical questions), she said give it another 10 minutes or so, then get to a doctor if it doesn't stop.  Ugh.  So I call Paul, tell him what's going on.  About 5 minutes before I called Carrie I prayed for Sarah.  Why is it I don't pray until it gets serious?  Anyway, so I call Paul, at this time it's been about 35 minutes.  Thankfully, it finally started to slow down.  By 5 minutes later it had stopped.    Thank you so much Lord.

So it was a pretty busy morning, then an adrenalin/fear rush.  Sarah is fine, and I'm sure it was just a combination of her getting over a cold and the house being a bit dry.  But after that kind of morning, the afternoon we pretty much vegged.  I worked on my crochet bookmark, and sent a bunch of different emails to some old friends.  So I finished everything on my to do list.  Now Paul and his friend are in the living room watching the game, enjoying all the food.  The kids are watching some DVD's and I'm in our bedroom relaxing with the laptop.    Overall, it's been a good day.

But I did realize this morning that I do better with thrown together to-do list instead of a pre-made list.  I've made this really nice to-do list that's in my home management binder.  It's got different categories, lines to write notes etc...  But this morning, as I'm starting my morning, spending some time with the Lord, and thinking of the things I need to accomplish, did I feel like pulling out my big binder, to get to that big 8 1/2 X 11 page, nope, I didn't feel like it at all.  I had bought some small pads of papers from Office Max a while back.  So I grab this simple pad of paper and wrote out a list of things I wanted done.  I mixed my email list with my to-do list, instead of having it separated like on my fancy to do list.  And you know what, for me, that worked so much better.  I'm such a list person.  I like making lists, and I like crossing things off my list when they are accomplished.  But I haven't used a list in so long, and I've been forgetting to get things done.  I've been needing to email our landlord and I kept forgetting, today I wrote it on my little pad of paper, and I finally got it done. Plus, other things that needed to be done.  I'm glad those bigger to-do papers work for others, but I've realized I like a simple list.  So we'll see if this continues to help me or not.  I know today it worked great.  I'll let you know if works.

So that was my day.  It's hard to believe our spring break is half over.  Tomorrow, all I have planned is my woman's bible study in the evening.  So the day should be pretty mellow.  Have a blessed evening or day, depending on when you read this.

I'm so glad you didn't have to take Sarah to the doctor. That sounded scary.

I was just reading the other day about doing a half sheet binder. I've not done a home management binder yet and was thinking about using the smaller size. I know I would never use a big one. I will post pictures if I do it. My printer is out of ink so it will have to wait for a trip to the office supply store.

I am so glad that Sarah's nosebleed stopped. That was a stresser. Your evening alone with your laptop sounded very peaceful. Lists are great if we can remember to look at them. (-:

I am a list maker too. I like different things to make lists on. I keep some in a stenno pad. I like to look back at them and think about how much I did! Is that weird?
