We are officially on summer break! Paul and I talked about it last night and decided that yesterday was our last 'official' day of school. We have talked to the kids and explained to them what we expected from them for the summer. Today was our first day of trying the new summer plan and it went well. Paulie has a cold, so that was a little hard for Paulie to read, but other than that it went well. We've been pretty mellow this morning, and that's been nice. I'm thinking through ideas on what to keep from their work and how I want to put it together in a little portfolio/scrapbook type thing. I'm not sure if I'll be working on that today or not, but I will work on it soon. And I'll probably go through all the papers, workbooks and art projects stored in the garage too. I would like to have it all done sometime in June, we'll see how it goes.
My nephew is coming over tonight for dinner and to play some Mario Kart on Wii with all of us. What a fun start to our summer break. Paul has Monday off, and we are don't have much planned, just a low key time together. No outside family or friends, just us. If we get a new grill we'll do some grilling this weekend, otherwise everything will be cooked inside. The weather might push us inside anyway. We have a chance of thunderstorms for the next seven days and probably won't be out of the 50's the next two days, and only getting into the 60's after that. It was a nice summer while it lasted.
I thought I would share some pictures of the flowers around our house. Being this is our first spring and summer season here we weren't sure what kind of plants or flowers were planted around here. But we have some very pretty ones.
I'm not sure what kind of tree that is, but it has a beautiful smell. It's a bummer we have to have our windows closed because of the weather. But when we were still in the 80's it was such a sweet smell coming in our house.
So that is it for today. It's surprising how quickly I'm getting back into the swing of daily blogging.
What beautiful flowers!!!! And yay, your on summer break!!! :) We aren't really doing a summer break here. I've been pretty relaxed all winter and spring with only LO here so we'll just continue what we're are doing. It's not like we spend a lot of time everyday with school work. lol!!! LO LOVES doing school work so he would probably freak if I told him there would no work until fall. lol!!! I can just picture the tears and meltdown in my head. lol!! Oh well, I know this time will not last forever, so I better enjoy it while I can, even if that means no "official" summer break. Anyways, it will be fun!!!

We are going to keep going until Jim gets home and then take a nice long break with him before we start on any of our summer plans.

So lovely! I love spring flowers. Ours are all gone now, but it is warm enough for annuals, so I hope to plan some one of these days. We don't have a grill either. I am hoping to just forget about grilling. (ha, ha) I do have a nice grill pan that works pretty well, just not the flavors of outside cooking. Have a nice weekend.

It is soooooooo PRETTY there ! Wow is all I can say.
Ohh and have tons of fun tonight. I am not sure what we will be doing this week end. Our water is not coming into the house right now and I hope that it will be a easy fix when hubby comes home. It makes life challenging when you don't have water.
