~ This and that ~

Posted in Ramblings
Thank you all for the sweet and encouraging comments on my last entry.  I personally am doing better.  We are still praying and thinking about getting a second opinion.  We'll wait for the glasses to come in and see if they help.  I just wasn't really impressed with how the doctor checked their eyes, and I was quite surprised Paulie is o.k. with close up work.  But like I said, we'll wait to see how the glasses are, plus I have to check with the kids insurance to see what it will cover.  Either way, thank you so much for your encouragement, I feel much better.

The weather out here is so not summer, we are so bummed.  We haven't worn shorts in weeks, we are only in the 50's and 60's and that's going to continue for the next week or so.    At least today its sunny, we've had lots of clouds and rain with this cold weather too.  By the time our summer starts, it will be over.  So please, send some of your heat this way, then you can hear me complain about how hot it is.

Church was great last night.  The message and worship were really good.  Plus I saw an old friend from the other church we were going to when we first moved.  It was so great to see her.  I found out that the woman who leads our woman's bible study is going to have a party for us ladies next week.  Then we'll start the bible study again in two weeks.    I'm quite excited about that.

We are all getting ready for our church's VBS next week.  Sarah is helping out in different areas, as am I.  This is Paulie's last year to be able to go, and Paul helps out Friday night with the family time after the week is over.  It sounds like its going to be so much fun, and we are all looking forward to it.  But it does make for a busy time.  We have a few 'off' days for the next couple of days, so that's nice.

So that has been about it around here.  Busy, yet I don't think I could make a 'list', just busy.  I'm off to try and get caught up with your blogs.  I hope you have a great rest of the day.

Hi JoAnn,
We are still waiting for warm weather and sunny days too. The last time we wore shorts was about 9 months ago. lol

I was reading through your last post and agree with Lynn too. It sounds like perhaps you just didn't get the greatest eye doctor, but that the prognosis of needing glasses may still be true. We switched eye doctors about a year ago for the girls because everyone at the old place talked baby talk to the girls (and even me). It drove me crazy. lol You probably just need to find a dr. that you like & trust. We all wear glasses here. Straining the eyes is not a virtue - it just causes headaches. :) Anna got them when she was about 5 and it did help her in her reading in that she stopped skipping lines so much. Amber always wished she could wear glasses. lol Her wish came true a couple of years ago when it seemed like all of the sudden she had problems with distance vision - I found out a common problem with teens or pre-teens. I don't think wearing glasses has anything to do with lack of faith really -- when you can't see, ya can't see. Delaying getting glasses won't make the eyes better and yes, Anna's eyesight improved after she got glasses. She still has to wear them, but her eye tests are much better without glasses than they were before and she has a less-strong perscription now. If your ins. doesn't allow for second opinions, I'd just say use this time to ask around and find a dr. you like so that next year, you'll feel better about it. You're next dr. might be a real God-send.

Hey, I just noticed that Sarah uses Teaching Textbooks for math. That's what I'm getting Anna for math next year too. Anna will be thrilled to know her & Sarah are using the same curriculum. :)
