~ My week so far ~

Posted in Ramblings
It's been quite a busy week so far.  And to show how crazy it is, I started this blog entry by writing that one sentence at 4:59pm and it's now 7:10pm.    Yep, crazy.

First my tooth.  Thank you all for asking about it.  I went to the dentist Monday afternoon and after they took x-rays, poked around and we talked, he wasn't sure what was wrong.  The fact that every where he poked didn't hurt was the main problem.  So as we were talking about what it could be, I was trying to remember where and what made it hurt.  See, cold and hot didn't bother it at all.  It was more of a throbbing, pressure type pain.  And it only hurt when I was eating because my bottom tooth would hit my top tooth and that would hurt.  So I realized it was between my upper back tooth and my gum.  So I told him that, he started poking around, and yes, it truly started hurting.    We found the spot.  It turns out I have a gap between my last tooth and gum, making my tooth move, and probably an infection starting up there.    He wants to pull the tooth.    For now I'm on an antibiotic and a prescription mouth wash.  I also have an appointment set up for two weeks from now to pull the tooth.  It's a back molar, so it shouldn't be an issue.  There might be a problem with the lower wisdom tooth on that side that might need to be pulled too, but right now I just want the main one pulled and the pain to stop.  Truthfully, I'm doing much better today.  I have more no pain time than painful times, I count that as good.  I'm hoping by tomorrow, after being on the antibiotic for over 24 hours, I'll feel better.  And the mouthwash seems to be helping too.  I'm blessed by that.

VBS is going good, crazy but good.  We've had close to 300 kids both days so far.  I know for some that's not a lot, but for us, it's a lot.  Monday was just a crazy day.  Though my main job is photographer, I have turned into a runner more than anything.  So yesterday I was walking so much, with shoes that don't fit perfectly, I got a blister on one of my toes.  The day ended yesterday, and I actually came home and slept.  I don't normally nap in the afternoon all that often.  Today was much smoother at VBS.  We got into a flow, and though I didn't take too many pictures today, I did a lot of other work.  But not even 5 minutes after I got there this morning, the blister on my toe started hurting, bad.  I found a band-aid, and that helped, thankfully.  Sarah went to a friends house after VBS so it was really quiet when Paulie and I got home.  After lunch, I let him play some Wii and I slept, again.    Seriously, I'm not use to napping so much.  Of course my body is also not use to getting out of the house so early every morning, and then 'working' for 4 hours.  But through all the craziness, busyness and such, it's been a great VBS.  It's a blessing to see all these kids there, and for me a true blessing seeing how some of the women work with these kids.  They are so good with them.

The kids glasses have come in and we'll be picking them up tomorrow.  Like I've said, we'll wait and see if they do help the kids see better and then go from there.  We also had to run to the library tonight to return books that we couldn't renew online.  Ugh.  I didn't realize they would be due during VBS week, and planned on just renewing them online.  But two of the books couldn't be renewed online, a hold was on them, so we had to hop in the car and get them all returned.  I'm tired now.  You ladies that have worked with VBS before, please tell me that me being tired like this is normal.  I feel so not normal right now and don't like being this physically tired.  I just need to know if anyone else has dealt with this.

That's about it so far this week.  I need to go update the VBS newsletter for tomorrow, make a worksheet for VBS and work with the pictures a bit.  I hope to update again soon.  I hope everyone is having a blessed week.

I'm glad your tooth is doing a little better. Thats a bummer about having to have it pulled. I pray that goes well. I'm sorry you are so tired. I hope you get your energy back soon.

JoAnn, that is so normal! We average 300 or more kids a day in our VBS. I always need a nap when I get home. I have already planned to do nothing else that week and to have simple menu ideas for dinner that week, too. One year it fell on Grace's birthday and we had to have a party right after VBS the day it ended. Oh my, I was tired and worn out. I am praying that I won't dread VBS's arrival. I enjoy it, but it can be so draining. This year I'll be with the 5th graders, so at least they won't have a lot of the same issues that the kindergardners that I worked with in the past had. So, take it easy on yourself this week and allow some recovery time next week!

Definitely! Being tired is the earmark of VBS week. You are SO normal. Two days to go. You can do it. You can do it!

And yes, the room got cleaned up. I "updated" the post. And he was even good-natured about it. (This is Ryan, remember? We've shared in PMs). I'm very encouraged.

Thanks for whatever prayers you have been prompted to pray. :-)

Glad you at least found out what is going on with the tooth and have a plan. It is awesome to get rid of that pain. VBS is so tiresome. It used to wear me out. I imagine that I would have come home to sleep too. Have a great weekend.
Hugs,
Christy

I am so sorry to hear about your tooth. I recently had two wisdom teeth extracted and it's not fun. I actually wrote a blog about it if you are interested in what I went through, it should be in Jan. archives.
Anyway, I am so glad vbs is going so well. 300 kids wow that's alot, I have never heard of so many.
Anyway, I look forward to pictures!
I am always extremely tired the week of VBS and after so I do think it's totally normal atleast for me too. Especially if you have other things going on and you with that tooth. Ouch!
We did two VBS last year and that was alot two weeks apart. This year it's soccer camp and the vbs is later and so far it looks like just one vbs this year.

Hugs,
Sheila
