~ My weekend ~

Posted in Family
First I have to say, I want to cry.  I had a long post typed up about my weekend, and I set my laptop down, and someone my browser closed and I lost my entry.    So this may not be as thorough as the other one, but I'm tired now and I don't want to type much longer, but here it goes.

Our weekend was good, but blah too.  First an update on Sarah's friend Emily.  From what we have heard she is still alive and burned over 60% of her body, not 80%.  Obviously still not good, but better than 80%.  It's hard to get information right now about how she is doing, but we are trying and from what we hear she is stable.  So whenever I get more information I'll let you know.  Thank you for your prayers and if you can keep her and her family in prayer whenever you think about it, that would be great.

Now, for our weekend.  My sister and her daughter, Carrie and Jessi, had to come out here to the big town for some shopping on Friday.  So they came over to see how Sarah was doing and gave Sarah her birthday present.  It was a cute, pink box full of teenager things.    Nail polish, nail care things, makeup, cuddle blanket, cute stuffed animal, journal, 'teen' deodorant, just fun things like that.  Sarah really enjoyed it.  And after such a hard morning, a morning full of crying, talking and yes some laughing, it was good to get her mind off of Emily an onto something else.  Carrie and Jessi decided to take both Sarah and Paulie back home with them (which for those who don't know, that's where we were headed for the weekend) so I had the afternoon by myself to pack up.  I was very tired and should have rested a bit, but I didn't.  How I wish I had.

Paul got home about an hour early, we finished getting ready and was on the road around 5:30pm getting to my parents house around 6:30pm.  Paul immediately started mowing my parents yard (the other reason we went out there) and my mom and I went to find the kids.  Sarah was going to spend the night at Jessi's house, having her first 'teenager' sleepover.    They ate candy, had pizza, did their makeup, watched movies and stayed up late.  Sarah had a blast.  I got my hair cut by my normal hairdresser.  I haven't found one out here that I like, and since she could squeeze me in Friday night, I got it cut.  By the time we were done with everything and settled for the night, I finally fell asleep around 11:00pm ish.  Here is where I really wished I had rested earlier in the day.

I was sleeping on a air mattress, which last time was great, not this time.  My shoulder that I had PT on last spring really started hurting while I was sleeping.  I couldn't sleep like I normally do on my shoulder, and I kept waking up every hour.  That would have been bad enough, but then around 3:00am my allergies kicked in really bad and I couldn't fall back asleep.  I had allergies really bad when I lived out there, but out here I they haven't been a problem.  I mean I have some allergies out here, but nothing like I did when I lived out there.  I found out at 3:00am that up in the mountains my allergies are horrible.  I had no medication that I could take, no eye drops, no nose spray, nothing.  Ugh.  So I finally feel back to sleep on my mom's recliner around 5:00am and then got a good 2 hours of sleep before everyone started waking up around 7:00am.    Yes, I'm really wishing I had rested on Friday.

Paul and the kids went to my sister's around 10:00am, with Paul helping to cut the wood, and Sarah and Paulie stacking it, I got there around 11:00am.  The day went good, and we got a lot of wood cut for my sister.  After lunch of some yummy ribs my sister made, we all started working again.  I started helping Carrie and her friend cut up limbs to make kindling.  It wasn't nearly as hard as Paul swinging an axe cutting wood, but it was still pretty physical and tiring.  I helped with that for a couple of hours, then I headed back to my parents house to pack up.  We had decided not to spend another night becuase of my allergies.  I knew I was already pushing myself to hard, and I needed to get a good night sleep, which wouldn't happen at my parents.

Well at this point it's sometime after 3:00 in the afternoon and I'm not feeling good at all.  My allergies were horrible and starting to go into my chest, which for me is also a sign that I'm exhausting myself.  My stomach started hurting and I litterly thought I was going to just fall asleep or get sick, one of the two.    I packed up everything, but I didn't have the energy to put it in the Jeep.  I knew we had to head home as I wasn't feeling any better.  They were done anyway and were ready to go.  We were going to hang with my parents for a few hours, but I just couldn't, I felt horrible.  So the kids packed up the car and we were on the road by 4:30pm.  I was driving because though Paul is doing better with the long drives, it's still easier if I drive.  Plus, the driving kept me distracted and I didn't think about how I was feeling too much.  Half way home I finally started feeling better.  Of course we had cold air blasting in our car, so I think part of what I was feeling was from the heat too.  Finally we pulled into our garage around 6:45ish pm.  Paul wanted me to clean up and rest right away, and he and the kids took care of unloading the car.  I hopped in the shower, then put on some clean clothes and grabbed a bite to eat.  I was finally getting my appietite back.  After that I took some allergy medicine and my allergy nasal spray I have when things get bad.  It started putting me to sleep, but at least it cleared things up too.  And no, I couldn't take any allergy medicine out there because the stuff knocks me out, and though I wanted to sleep, it wouldn't have helped at the time and I wouldn't have been with it enough afterward to drive home.  Plus I needed my prescription nasal spary, which was at home.

So after we all showed and ate some dinner we just relaxed.  I finally started feeling better, and we all went to bed early.  I got a good night sleep and I'm feeling much better today.  I do still have a bit of an allergy headache, but my stomach is better and I'm not nearly as stuffed up.  That is such a blessing.  So it was a great weekend at times, but it was blah too.  I just pushed myself way to hard, and should have rested more.  And knowing I didn't hardly any sleep, I should have left any physcial work to the guys but I wanted to help my sister.  Though like Paul said, I really should have just relaxed that day with the way I was feeling.  We are going to try and make one more trip out there before winter hits and just have a relaxed time visiting with my parents.

So that was my weekend.  I have another busy week coming up, so again, I'm not sure how much I'll be online.  I'll try to get caught up with you all soon.

PTL! That Emily is hanging on and PTL! that the burns were slightly less than originally thought. It sounds like she is going to have a very rough road ahead of her. I will continue to pray. Our whole family has been praying. I'm sorry to hear that you felt so bad this weekend. As an allergy sufferer, I know how miserable it can make you feel. I'm just surprised you were able to drive home!!!
