~ My weekly ramblings ~

Posted in Ramblings
Not much has been going on this week, well nothing that is real interesting to blog about, but I thought I should try to put an update out here.  Let's see if I can list a few things that are interesting.

Our lessons have been going well.  Things seem to be going good with our flow or schedule.  It seems like we are finishing early, not sure if that is good or bad.  But the kids are doing some fun, extra things in the afternoon, so I guess that's good.  Sarah and I have been talking about what direction she's thinking about after high school.  I know she's only in 7th grade, but I want to start getting some curriculum next year somewhat toward her direction.

We've been watching the Republican Convention all week, so I didn't make it to bible study on Thursday.  It's been a fun family time, and it has started lots of good topics and conversations.  We watched the Democratic one last week too.  The kids have been watching it and asking lots of questions, all in all it's been a good learning experience for all of us.  I've learned some new things too.  What I like the most is being able to explain how our government works and what an election is all about.

Other than those things, I've been busy with my crafts and working on my website.  I did a major update to it already, and I'm getting ready to work on some of the content.  As much fun as I've had with it, the Lord wants me to remember balance is the key.  There are a few new things I feel I should be doing, the website being one of them, but I tend to go overboard with the things I like.  I worked so long and hard on the website over the weekend, and in that, not having my laptop at a good angle, my wrist really started hurting.    I've done some exercises, and adjusted the laptop, so my wrist is fine, but the main thing is the Lord showing me how out of balance my time was.  I need to be doing some of the other things too, and learn to set the laptop down.   I am working on it, and I have done more than just website work this week.

So that's been about it.  We have a simple weekend planned, though a bit busy.  Our church's new sanctuary opens up this weekend, and then Sunday we have a homeschool group's leadership meeting.  We have stepped up to the core/leadership in our homeschool group, and we have our first meeting this Sunday night.  Then the normal homeschool meeting Monday night.  Yep, simple yet busy.  Our weather has turned also.  Our temperatures have been hovering around the high 60's with the nights getting down to the high 30's.    We are getting ready to put our air conditioner away, because the main heat of our summer is over, though it will warm up into the 70's sometimes 80's still.  But we are not usually this cold this early.  We've all had to pull out the pants and close the windows a bit more.  Which has also shown us how much our kids have grown out of their pants.    So now it's time to try and save up some money and go to the thrift store.  Ah the joys of cooler weather.

Hi JoAnn,
I just watched the Republican conventions too. Now live but out of their website. I didn't watch the other one, knowing how their candidate feels about Israel is not enough for me. Some Democrats are even supporting the republican nominees, that tells you alot :)
We did get some of your nice weather here. It's been so nice not having the air on.
Yep, we are getting into a school routine also. have a wonderful week ahead.
((((hugs))))

Hello! I'm glad things are going well. I think it's a good time to start talking to Sarah about the future! Not too early at all. Of course things can change a lot between now and then, but it's better than waiting until too late.

Our weather has turned too. We emptied the pool this weekend. I have been going through the kids clothes trying to make a list for what we will need from Goodwill. If I go enough, by the time it is cold, I'll have found everything I am looking for, and more. :-) It just takes patience shopping at a thrift store. Thankfully, my kids are still young enough not to care what they wear. My neighbor gave me a big bag of clothes for my oldest boy. The clothes were great and still fit her boy. He just would not wear them anymore. Imagine!
Have a great week. I am limiting my time on the computer too. Must be diligent at home. Hey, that gives me an idea. Maybe I should change the name of my blog to Diligent at Home.

I so agree with you on your convention thoughts. Obama sounds pretty good but then where's the meat? I didn't care much for the Biden choice as it started looking like he was muddying the waters by making a McCain look-a-like choice.
I didn't care much for the invoking of the 'I'm the answer to the I have a Dream' posturing but he did come off as if he was already the president.

I was wondering how McCain was going to even come close to matching that performance. Then the hurricane became news and it was beginning to look as a total loss.

Then Palin was introduced and all I could say was, "Slam Dunk!" Whether she would be good or bad, I didn't know but she certainly was a shocker, historical choice, and she evoked the Woman's rights which was an older battle then the black battle. So which battle would prevail?

Fewer original members of the women's movement are still around so if nothing else, this will be interesting. I also find it interesting that Obama keeps bringing up equal rights for his daughters. He's not planning on letting the Republicans have that to themselves.

They all have interesting backgrounds. And I can't truly say I like any of them too much. I have problems with all four of them so I guess we choose the lesser of the evils?

If Obama wins, congress will work to promote his plans which are? (From most of what I read, not good plans.) If McCain wins, congress will work to blockade most of his plans so they won't pass whether good or bad.

It's gonna be interesting. That we can count on.

I feel like I'm constantly being challenged to learn how to balance everything!
I hope your week is going well!
