~ First snow of the season ~

Posted in Ramblings
Yep we got our first snow of the season.  Now, that doesn't mean it is winter here or anything like that, just that our falls are always very interesting.  We still have green leaves on the trees and green grass.  For us, the snow was only about 1/4 of an inch, and it was gone by afternoon.  For my parents, whose elevation is about 1000ft higher than ours, they got 4-5 inches, and it's still on the ground.    But today is sunny, we'll be in the high 40's, the next couple of days, in the mid to high 50's then next week around 60.    After living out here in the Northwest mountains for 6 years, none of this surprises us.  It's just how it is out here.  I'm always thankful that it goes away so fast, and warms up so nicely.  I'm not quite ready for winter yet.    So here are the pictures of our first snow fall this year.

Your backyard is awesome. Is that a raised garden hiding back there or a sandbox? I see potential for a square foot garden in your future! OK, I know, mind my own backyard business. ;-)
The snow looks so pretty at first. I was just thinking today wil all our rain that I was glad it is not snowing.

How pretty! I hope winter will hold off a little longer, for your sake, though.

We are not far behind you ! We have been watching the snow level go up and down the mt.'s the last week or so. They had predicted a heavy frost this week. It may not happen yet...but it is coming. We are working real hard to get all the apples and plums in before the snap will happen. Cutting and drying fruit each night is our song right now.

Sending you blessings and ((HUGS)) my SSiC

And that is about as much snow as we get in a year!

My son was just saying yesterday that he wishes it would snow. I should just send him up north.

I will just say that I am so glad it was YOU who got the snow and not US! LOL!

I told dh it will be interesting this winter with me now working. I work at a hospital, so we wear scrubs. I usually wear anklet socks. Yet, the wind goes right through those scrubs on a chilly day. YIKES! Yet, if I wear socks, I'm liable to overheat since we are almost constantly running here or there in ER. Plus, when I'm in the regular admissions department, my legs are under a desk, where there is no air circulation, so it gets rather warm in there too. It's going to be hard to find that "happy medium" this winter in determining whether to wear socks and be warm for the drive to work, or go w/o them so I can be comfortable while on the job.

I was wondering about you after hearing about a lot of snow out your way. Your yard looks like ours, except we aren't warming up like normal - boohoo.
