Because I appear to be incapable of posting original content this week, here's a little bit of indie sweetness to brighten up your midweek.
Foolishly Seeking True Love from Jarrett Lee Conaway on Vimeo.
I heart Vimeo. :]
...at least I'll know who to marry, thanks to PBS's Bachelors of Highbury quiz (which, non-Austenites, would be a tie-in to Masterpiece Theatre's new miniseries of Emma).
Mr. Robert Martin
"...every body spoke well of him. His mother and sisters were very fond of him. Mrs. Martin [said] that it was impossible for any body to be a better son; and therefore she was sure whenever he married he would make a good husband."
You're looking for a faithful partner and friend who won't let you down and who will build a solid future with you. You've found him in Mr. Martin.
Good-natured, hard-working, and devoted to his family, Mr. Martin is what anyone would call a "stand-up guy." Even his boss, Highbury VIP Mr. Knightley, calls him "an excellent young man." This respectable gentleman-farmer has an unflagging work ethic and a head for business, but he likes to unwind with moonlight walks and parlor games in his downtime. He has an open, curious mind and a gentle, forgiving soul. Close with his two sisters, he knows how to treat a woman and understands the power of a kind gesture. "Bad-boy behavior" isn't in his vocabulary.
You can look forward to many years of love, laughter, and the joys of life's simple pleasures with this steady and true companion.
Thank you, internet.

If you have a question about me, leave it in the comments!
JUST THE FACTS, MA'AM.
name: Maddy Lee [lastname]
DOB: 9/14/94
Hobbies: photography, writing & reading fiction, art of many sorts, listening to good music, making good music, making amigurumi, making hats, and wearing cute clothes.
What kind of camera do you use? A Canon Rebel XS. Photos from entries up till 2010, however, were taken with my Canon PowerShot A560.
FUN STUFF
What are your favorite musicals? Annie, Fiddler on the Roof, Hairspray, and Rodger & Hammerstein's Cinderella.
What is your favorite TV show? The Middle
What's your favorite name for a girl? Linnea.
What's your favorite book? The Outsiders, by S.E. Hinton. It's like Grease, only without Olivia Newton-John. Or John Travolta. Or singing. Or dancing. And it has a good plot. And it's much better. But there's greasers in it. Hence, it is like Grease.
Do you like pie? Yes. Please bring me some next time you see me.
I'll give you a hint.

Firstly, I am being bombarded with awards, so, thank you Alyssa, Emily & Hailey for your awards. You're all very sweet.
I, however, am much too lazy to take the time to find un-awarded blogs, so, if you feel like you deserve an award today, HEY GUESS WHAT. I have an award for you. The You Are Really Awesome According To Maddy award. It's so cool that it doesn't even have a badge to put on your blog. It's just that kind of prestige.
And now let's do some praising, because I forgot on Monday (and the Monday before that):
- Pandora
- yards blanketed in fresh snow
- rhyming
- Boston cream pie
- cool scrapbooking paper
- real mail
- Praise Habit, by David Crowder
- audio books
- friendship bracelets
- fresh air
- computer repair shops
- Ikea
- a certain DSLR camera that was on sale & is on its way to my house(!)
Also-- Happy Epiphany!
Happy new year-- and new decade!
(I'm posting this from the iTouch, so this is going to be a short first post of the year.)
2009 went by very quickly for me. It had its good moments and its bad, and overall I'm pretty ready for 2010.
I'm looking forward to a lot of things this year, such as buying my new "fancy pants" (DSLR) camera, going to Europe in the spring, doing lots of crafting & art, and growing closer to God.
Here's to a great new year!
Hope everyone had a very merry Christmas. Mine was lovely, filled with cheer and firends and a lot of food and and an ear infection and AN INSTAX 200 CAMERA. (Thank you, parents.)
An Instax is like a Polaroid (as in the 'shake it like a Polaroid picture' kind of Polaroid, which no longer exists, tragically). It's produces epic photos, such as:

It's pretty exciting.
The gifts have been finished...

...and now we will spend time with good friends, eat some delicious (despite being gluten-free) homemade Christmas cookies, and then in the evening we will go to church.
And we will hear one of my favorite stories.
There's some pretty crazy stuff going on in the story of Christ's birth. Men making a trip on camels across countries because of just a star and a prophecy, a choir of angels appearing before lowly shepherds, the King of kings being born in a barn. There's even an evil king. It sounds a little like a Disney movie. Only it's better. Because it's real and is the beginning of the greatest story ever.
I have to go get ready for my friends to come over, so, as Judy Garland would say, have yourself a merry little Christmas now.
Because it's almost Christmas & everyone's feeling all cheery and giving, here's some of my favorite charities/causes that I'm thankful for:
- Grace Centers of Hope (which is where my youth group & I were yesterday, which is why this is being posted a day late)
- Amazima Ministries
- Heifer
- To Write Love On Her Arms
- Operation Christmas Child
- Henri Denis School in Monrovia, Liberia (which doesn't have a website, but there's some fantastic photos of the students there & their neighbors here) (and that is one of my church's ministers playing the bagpipes in picture #22; we're pretty hardcore at SPUMC)
- Red Bird Mission
- National Adoption Day
- Dinosaur Hill
What are some of your favorite causes?
