Striving to Bring Light and Truth to the World Around Me
Apr. 12, 2009
"Jesus made death die."

Today is a beatufiul spring day in Arizona - despite the fact it was cold and rainy yesterday and it snowed on the mountains! I went to a wonderful sunrise service this morning and then came home to cook for the Easter Brunch. I ate so many egg and meat casseroles I am sure I have far exceeded my monthly cholesterol quota by far! There was a lot of yummy casseroles, breads and fruit. I am probably not even going to eat for the rest of the day because I am stuffed!

Hard to imagine last year Easter was in March....and Anna was 1 week old. This year she is just over 1 year old and is about to start walking! I'll try to get some pictures on here soon.

The sermon this morning was a wonderful and inspiring reminder of 4 ways that Jesus' death reminds us of a king. A king rules, restores, redeems  and rewards His people.

During one of the sections Jenna turns to me and said....

"Jesus made death die."

And there you have it. Out of the mouth of a child comes the truth - straight and to the point. For the Christian, death is dead! Praise God He loved us so much He has saved us from our sins and continually provides the means we need to become more and more like Him. True love is one who not only saves but also changes - burns away all the impurities and transforms dirty, weak and helpess sinners into spotless, strong and servants for the Most High God!!!!

We should live each day with the gratitude and joy that comes from knowing we won't ever be rejected by God. He is getting heaven ready for us to arrive. We should be living with excitement that we have been forever freed from bondage to sin, that one day all the pain of this world will end, and in THAT day we will see face to face the One who bought us with His blood.

Lets spread the word with our lives - our actions , our words, our thoughts....

"Jesus made death die."

Ah, little ones can be so wise! May we all have faith like a child.

Isn't it wonderful when your children "get it?" Isn't it amazing when they actually teach you? This was a great post. Also, I saw your list of books read fr March--way to go, Mom! I love Susan McCauley's book For the Children's Sake; it so encouraged me at a season in my life when I was searching for direction in our living books approach to learning. Hmmm...I think you've added to my summer reading list. Good books are meant to be looked over again and again.

Anyway, I just wanted to see what was going on with you, and I hope all is well.
