Update!
Ok everyone. I am really having a hard time trying to figure out how to blog and read friends blogs! I need your tips! I have all these neat posts that go through my head while I'm working on school with the kids, or driving around town or do a million other things. Then I forget to post them and don't remember until I am reminded of something else cool to post about!
I need to figure out how to add in blogging to my day because I miss being here! What do y'all do? Do you spend an hour a day here - or 30 minutes? What time of day is easier for you?
The kids have been having a great summer...even though we are still doing school! They have done VBS for one week and Science camp for another week. They just started swim lessons and soon they may go visit the grandparents for a week (the 2 older kids!) That will give me a chance to catch up on a lot of stuff! How cool that will be!
Lets see if I can get a picture on here.....here are 2 of our Chrismtas pictures. I know that was forever ago - oh well, better late then never!

Ok, now that I've finally posted a somewhat recent picture of us...tell me how you fit blogging into your life - please!!!

You have a beautiful family!
About the blogging - my routine is this:
I get up at 6:00am,
get my coffee (pre-made the night before and set to brew at 6:00),
read my Bible and work on my bible study (currently Beth Moore's The Patriarchs) until about 6:45,
then I get on HSB and read and post as I feel led.
I do this until about 7:30 and then I get up and get ready for the day.
Usually in the afternoon, once again with a cup of coffee, I'll get on and see if I have any comments or want to comment on anything.
I basically have that set time in the morning, but the other times are just as I can find time.

I don't know, Marie, I was hoping someone could tell me! lol. I haven't been able to think of anything to blog about lately either. No inspiration. And no, I don't have a blogging schedule. It's not top on my priority list.

Hi Marie! I'd have to say, write your ideas down as soon as you think of them. Keep a list going near your computer. I blog mainly so that I can remember these wonderful days at home with my kids. I want to remember what we are doing. That keeps me motivated. I don't blog for blogging's sake? Or just for friendship, although that is a benefit. Think about why you want to blog. Write that down. Pray about if this is a season in your life to be blogging. I tend to spend too much time on the computer when I am stressed. It's a relaxation technique!

You've received lots of good advice, especially from Jenn. I think the first thing you have to decide is why you blog? Then you'll know what you want to blog about. If it's a journal, then most of your blogs will be pictures & info. about what you are all doing. I tend to blog about issues & for friends. I have my own journal that I keep some very personal things in (an old fashioned written one) so I don't always blog for an online journal, though I do like that I have one. :)
As far as timing, I don't have any exact time, I blog & read when I can. I have quit worrying about if I'm letting someone down by not blogging. I was starting to feel guilty, which is silly. And I cleared out my google reader to only the blogs I really want to keep up with. That saved the most time. Then I just blog when I something comes up, or I think it's been too long. :)
But I agree with Jenn, there are different seasons for blogging. I don't blog nearly as often now as I use to, and I'm ok with that.
Sorry I don't have any real answers for you. Just pray, pray, pray and see where the Lord leads you in this season of your life.
Great pictures. You have a very cute family.

Jun. 26, 2009 - blogging
Hi Marie, Thanks for stopping by. It was nice to hear from you again. You have a beautiful family.
You've received some great advice already so I don't have much to add. I too write things down as I think of them. I also do a lot of writing one or two days a week as I have time and then set the blogs to post on different days throughout the week or into the next week. I usually do all my posting and reading of other blogs in the morning between 7-8 am. I have to really watch myself and the clock or I can spend way too much time doing this. When I do our schedule for the Fall I will probabaly schedule a time for myself to blog.
The question I have to continually ask myself is, "Am I redeeming the time?" In other words, is blogging a good use of my time or is it taking up time that should be used for other things (God, husband, children, house, school, ministry, etc.)?
Hope that helps.
blessings,
dani

So good to hear from you! Your family is beautiful. :) I've thought of you many times over the last year or so.
Blogging... I've been TERRIBLE at it lately, so I don't know if I'll be any help! I think the advice about decide WHY you blog first is great; then you can choose what to do from there. I find myself missing my bloggy friends, so I need to start reading other blogs and commenting more. And then I need to figure out what to blog about! There are some sites out there that give you ideas. I'm hoping to get better at it and more of a routine again.

Beautiful family!
As for blogging, you have been given great advice. I was encouraged to read them. :) I don't follow a routine, but just blog when I have a few moments. I'm like you, I write blog posts in my mind, but they don't often get here on the computer. LOL
As for visiting blogs, I have a few I like to visit often and others I read just when I have some spare moments. Life is too busy to just sit here at the computer. :)

Hi Marie,
You pictures of your family are beautiful! Your children are young - I guess I wouldn't put blogging too important on your list. Enjoy them instead!
Yet - I personally love to record in writing and photography what it is that I am enjoying so much! I use my blog for this purpose. It's like I'm recording special days and moments that I am enjoying for the future when this season in my life is past. :(
I do what your first commenter does - after prayer and Bible reading, IF there is still time. And, sometimes I do it at night, when ever everyone else in the house is busy at something their enjoying.
Sometimes I write a post offline in Microsoft Word, when the house is quiet (like in the morning) and then post it when I get a chance. And I love to visit friends, but I generally only do that once a week, not every day.
And as far as what to write about - just write what it is that you enjoyed this past week, or about a book you read, or a meal you fixed. You will bless us as well as yourself recording what it is that you enjoyed.
But like I said, blogging isn't that important. If it falls off the wayside, the most important thing is your little ones!

I am so sorry that I'm just now getting by. I am sure that you are getting some great tips, which I'll see after I post my own. What I say will probably be redundant.
I think that blogging--the content, the frequency, all of it--goes back to purpose. You have to think about why you blog. Is it to get out and make online friends or build support? I would suggest, if that is the intent, then memes are the way to go. You are immediately introduced to others who are using the same weekly meme, and you can build your friendships from there. If your blog is a personal diary, then be sure to include pictures, quirky happenings, and other events that may only be cherished by you, but cherished all the same. http://www.homeschoolblogger.com/Titus2woman/ has a wonderful blog that is becoming a precious keepsake for her children's smaller days. Regularly, she posts silly things that the kids do, and her prayer intercessions and requests. Realize that with this latter purpose in blogging that you may have fewer comments than if you participate in memes. Finally, your blog might be a nature blog or photo blog, and of course, when and what you blog will be dictated by your pictures. Though she's not blogged in a while, http://www.homeschoolblogger.com/BChsMamaof3/ is an excellent example (I'm sure one of many) of a great photo blog.
I tend to be a more reflective and introspective person, as is the nature of the introvert, so I've thought alot about the shape of my own blog and whether it still suits my purposes. I'm thinking out loud in your comment space, so thanks for letting me do that. I am glad that you've found some ideas, though, and I look forward to seeing them.
God bless you, Marie. By the way, your Christmas pic of the family is wonderful!
