Jul. 11, 2007 - Don't cry
I had a dream the other day that I was talking to Joshua. The following poem describes our conversation. Let me know what you think.
Don’t Cry
Mama, don’t cry.
I know you miss my smiling face
And you think that I am gone.
But I’m alive.
I am waiting here for you,
In the best of company.
And its just for a while,
Then you’ll be here with me.
So, Mama, don’t cry.
I’m alive.

Dec. 24, 2006 - Christmas
Christmas.
Family gathered near.
Gifts, cards, trees, and lights.
Tinsel, ornaments, cookies, and more.
Christmas dinner of turkey or ham.
Maybe, offer up a prayer.
Is that all that you need?
Christmas.
Family gathered near.
Mary, Joseph, a journey to take.
A baby in a manger born on Christmas morn.
Angels, shepherds, wisemen, and songs.
Maybe, offer up a prayer.
Is that all that you need?
Christmas.
Family gathered near.
Jesus, a baby born a Savior to die.
A heart that is tender.
A gift given and accepted.
A miracle by God's design.
That is all that you need.
I pray that each of you remembers the true meaning of Christmas this year.

Dec. 19, 2006 - I'm trying
I was reading some random blogs today and saw this wonderful poem. I used it as inspirtation for my own poem. I'm trying. The original poem can be found at
Girls of Grace .
I'm trying
I’m trying today.
I’m trying day by day, hour by hour,
Sometimes minute by minute.
Trying to remember, trying to forget.
Most days I try with little success.
I can only continue trying
I’m trying again today,
Trying not to cry, trying not to be sad.
Trying to think about the future, not the past.
Trying to say I love you, see you soon.
Trying to trust God, and His loving hands.
I will continue trying.
.
I’m trying today.
Trying to smile, trying to love and to laugh.
So many days worth remembering, I’m trying.
You are in God’s loving hands, and so am I.
I’m trying to hold on, I’m trying to let go.
Another day, and I am trying.

Sep. 26, 2006 - Fall is coming
I can't believe that the leaves are already changing color. Fall is one of my favorite times of year because of the beautiful colors. We have such a creative God.
Color
Fall leaves, sunsets, flowers,
Color all around.
Birds, sunrises, rainbows,
Beautiful colors abound.
Look to the seas,
Only water around?
Bright blues, oranges, greens,
On fish and plant found.
See in the air,
More colors to astound.
Birds of many shades
There can be found.
Study the planets
More to be found.
Red, blue, green, brown,
Colors again abound.
Color, color everywhere.
God has a way to astound.

Sep. 18, 2006 - Jesus Prayed
Yesterday in church we learned about Jesus' prayer in John 17. One sentence that the pastor said just inspired me to write this short poem.
Jesus Prayed
Jesus prayed for me
long, long ago.
Jesus prayed for you
long, long ago.
Jesus prayed for us all
long, long ago.
He prayed for our protection
long, long ago.
He prayed for our unity
long, long ago.
He prayed for our salvation
long, long ago.
Jesus knew you and me
long, long ago.
Jesus loved you and me
long, long ago.
Jesus loves you and me
long ago and forevermore.

Sep. 4, 2006 - You hold me
You hold me
Though I stumble and fall -
You hold me.
Through the tears and the pain -
You hold me.
Through the times of despair -
You hold me.
You hold me.
You hold me.
Oh Lord, You hold me.
When I feel lost and alone -
You hold me.
I cant make it alone
You hold me.
In good times and bad
You hold me.
You hold me.
You hold me.
Oh Lord, You hold me.
It was quite sometime ago that I wrote this poem, but I happened upon it today. It can be applied to many different circumstances. Hope you enjoy it.

Aug. 16, 2006 - Our trip to the zoo
Our Trip to the Zoo
Our trip to the zoo,
A special gift from Josh,
We had tickets because of you.
I wish you could be with us.
I could almost see you there,
Marveling at the animals,
Roaring like the lions,
Hopping like the frogs.
I could almost hear you fighting
As we traveled along,
He started it, mom,
I didnt do anything wrong.
I found myself looking for you
At every corner we turned.
I stopped to catch a glimpse of you,
When I heard your name called.
The elephants, the zebras, the giraffes
Were all there.
But someone was missing,
A child with a head of blonde hair.

Aug. 16, 2006 - My Brother's poem
This morning I recieved an email from my brother. He included a poem (I'm not sure if he wrote it) about my son Joshua. I thought is was beautiful, so I wanted to share it with you all. My brother is currently serving in Iraq. I have not seen him since Christmas.
Joshua
He was created to be with me,
And a task yet to be.
Your prayers and care,
Showed a need for him to be there.
I left him for a time,
To learn, love, and shine.
You loved and taught him well,
And I thank you for all.
His task with you now through,
But he has more to do.
He was created to be with me,
Someday, I hope you see.

Aug. 10, 2006 - broken hearted praise
Today I read again that we are to praise God in all circumstances. This is really hard for me right now. I can praise Him, but praise Him for this. Thank Him for this, I am not there yet. Yes, I trust you Lord. I dont understand. I have gone through trials before, but nothing like this. This is by far the most difficult experience I have ever gone through. My heart still feels broken, my days seem endless, my arms feel empty. I know that You will help me through this pain. I know that You will be there for me through everything. But right now the hurt is so deep.
Broken Hearted Praise
I dont understand this pain.
My heart is broken,
My arms are empty,
My little boy has died.
Why must I walk this path?
Few have walked it before.
It is a dark and lonely path.
No one seems to understand.
I remember the good times,
The laughter, and games, the hugs, and cheer.
I remember the bad times,
The tears, and fights with brothers and sister.
Who can understand this pain?
Who can heal this broken heart?
Who can fill my arms again with joy?
Only You Lord, only You.
Walk with me dear Lord.
You have walked this path before.
You will light the way.
You do understand.

Aug. 5, 2006 - My Treasure Hunter
My Treasure Hunter
A walk along the beach,
So much to be behold.
A rock, or a shell,
A treasure to hold.
A walk through the park,
Adventure abounds.
A feather, a bug,
A treasure found.
In the backyard,
In the garden, or wood.
Just open your eyes
As a child would.
The treasures are there,
Around you still.
Open your eyes
As only a child will.
Become like a child,
Your heart to behold.
The greatest treasure.
It cannot be bought or sold.
It is freely given,
A gift from above.
Through this treasure,
God shows us such love.
Salvation for all
A gift for each one.
Jesus the Christ
The only begotten son.
Open your heart,
Let Him come in.
This treasure is yours
It is now time to begin.
Written in memory of my son Joshua, who died on June 27th, and lives now in heaven with my Lord, Jesus.
