A Step Closer to God Each Day

Oct. 12, 2008 - Yes I Am 16, Your Point Please?

Ug, I hate it when people ask me how old I am and then when I say 16 I hate what their  first reaction is!

"Oh 16, can you drive, do you have your driver's licence?"

"Uh, no"

"Well, why not?"

"I think it would be better to wait untill I am more mature, right now, I am kinda a dreamer."

"Who gave you that title? You, or your mom?"

"Uh, me, what exactly IS the question?"

"Oh well..."

Changes subject,

"So, do you have a cell phone?"

"No."

"Oh, why?"

"Because I am homeschooled, why do I need one?"

"Uh..."

Changes subject,

"Well, do you have a boyfriend?"

"No, and I don't plan on it!"

"Well have you been kissed yet?"

"No, again, and I don't plan on it! Not until I am married!"

"Ahhh, sweet 16 and never been kissed!"

"Uh-huh..."

Are those the only questions people can ask? Come on!

Then people wonder why their children get boyfriends too young. Uh, perhaps because the world is pressuring them to! They have the nerve to shake their heads at them and look down on the kids holding hands and then act confused when a young lady says she is submitting to God and her parents and is content to wait for the right season for all of these things.

Ug!

I know, questions like that can be so irritating!! For me it was always questions about college, because I did not go to college for the first 2 years after I graduated. The general population does NOT approve of that!!

Hope you have a nice weekend,

LOL I love the introductory message! :o)

It sounds like you get asked all of the same questions that my daughter gets asked. Her answers are all, no, no, no and no too! she's 18 and is happy to wait until this spring to begin studying for her permit. Her blog is homeschoolblogger.com/annettenagle/

Yes, I created the background several years ago. Boy does time fly! God Bless you and thank you for stopping by my blog. :o)

I definitely agree. Comments and questions like those are real pains! The one I am constantly getting is, "What are you going to take after high school?" One of these days I need to memorize a ten sentence long description of "Homemaker 101." :)

Cute blog, by the way! Loved your little "warning" box that popped up before I got onto your page. You have a great sense of humor!

hey, I'll check out that book you reccommended. I agree with this post! Young ladies are supposed to submit their parents, not the world or boyfriends! I enjoy your blog!

Feb. 5, 2009 - I can TOTALLY relate to this!!!!

I'm so happy to know that I'm not the only girl who has this type of thing shoved in her face all the time. ; ) In the town I live in, teenagers drive whether they have a license or not, everyone 15 and older( probably some younger too). They think I'm crazy because I'm not all that anxious to learn how to drive, even though I'm 16. Plus it's virtually unheard of for a highschooler to not be in a dating relationship, and I don't plan on EVER dating. When I'm of a more marriageable age, then courtship is my choice; and I want my first kiss to be on my wedding day.
I do have a phone(just a TRACphone), but I have to pay for it, and I hardly ever use it. I have no desire to become a slave to my cell phone the way so many teenagers have(I'm horrible at texting and proud of it!). Anyway, thanks a lot for posting this, it's very encouraging!
