Recollections of FAD

Memories, both sad and happy...

I can remember the first day when I decided to write 'The Silent Passageway'. I was laying on top of my bed, talking to my sister, Anna. In my hands rested a piece of paper, with typed up words upon it. It must have been a scene from a previous story that I had been writing. Anna wanted me to read it to her, but me, thinking it would be a fun joke, began "read it" to her. I was really doing nothing more than making up a story as I went along.

It ran something like this:

One day, as the sun seeped though the windows of an old musty attic of an old house, walked a woman. In her hand she had a key, that led to a secret lock which nobody knew about...

Suddenly I just knew I wanted to write a book about something with a key that led to a secret passageway.

A few weeks later, I was holding in my hands, a copy of Kidnapped, by Robert Louis Stevenson. It was a red hardback, with gold embossed letters. I stood in front of my mirror and acted out a random scene of a girl who found a book such as that. She opened it, and found names of kings and all the royal line written in it. Though she was the princess, her name was not in it.

That sprang hundreds of ideas into my head, and I combined 'Flora-Anneola, Fleeing Princess of Hanaskea' with my older book, 'The Silent Passageway' and that became the very foundation of what is now called 'Faithfulness and Deceit' or FAD for short.

That was about two years ago. Then I formed another character named Lydia. Katie helped me with her for a while, and before we knew what had happened, Lydia was Katie's character and Flora was my character. Here it get's interesting, for while Lydia was basically Katie's character, Lydia was still in my book, and Katie wasn't helping write it yet.

About this time, comes an interesting argument me and Katie had which is really quiet comical. I always imagined Flora's hair to be curly and red, and Lydia's hair to be strait and black. Katie never imagined Lydia to have black hair, and I think at one point it was blond, but not for long. Soon agreement came, and Lydia had strait light brown hair, and Flora was the same curly red hair.

Then came the character named Hammon. He was Flora's twin brother. I sort of forgot about him, and at the same time created two other characters named Younger Ranger and Older Ranger. Well not really, but they didn't have names for the longest time.

The way the story went so far was that Flora and Lydia were "twin" sisters, though really Flora was the princess to the other country of Hanaskea, even though she and Lydia lived in Eterneth. (soon to become Ethernethia) The jist of the plot was that they ran away from their evil uncle Rumman, who was the king of Eterneth. On the way, they met two Hanaskean Rangers, who ended up protecting them and taking them to Hanaskea so that Flora could become queen, and where Lydia could get an army and fight against her Uncle Rumman. At this point however, Rumman's character changed. He became a nice uncle, and it was his son, Aragin who was the villan.

Meanwhile, Flora's twin brother was forgotten about, and I named the "younger ranger". His name became Rean-Hammon as shown below. :)

I must say, Rean-Hammon became one of the main characters, and the hero of the story. Then, first sugested by a friend of mine, I first added romantic stuff to it. It wasn't too bad, there are actually a few scenes I look back upon, and I still want to use.

At this point, after about a year of writing, Katie joined with me. She wrote all of Lydia's scense, and I wrote all of Flora's scenes, (by this time I had changed the name Flora-Anneola, to just plain Flora).

Also Katie introduced a character named Raindant, who was a poor stable boy who falls in love with the princess Lydia. Katie's two character's went their own way, and my plot and my two character's went a different way, although we managed to keep them together for about six more months.

The spring of '08 was when I began showing FAD to all of you. And by then, it was called Faithfulness and Deceit. The whole plot turned slightly, and turned into more of a romantic book. The first chapters took place at balls, and Flora had many suitors, after all, she was a beautiful princess.

This summer Katie and me found out major problems in the story. First of all, Katie found out that her characters, Lydia and Raindant were getting out of hand. Lydia was a wonderwoman, who could do anything! Raindant was whimpy. So she changed a bunch of things, and named the girl Adrianna and Raindant was named Callan. Katie's story took a huge upward turn, and mine seemed to be flying along.

In late July, Katie and me split our book into two seperate books. Adrianna became a gypsie, but Flora was still a princess, although not so pretty.

By October, my plot seemed to be going wonderfully, better than I had ever hoped to imagin. Then came NaNoWriMo, and the month of November. I put FAD on hold, and began writing a sequal for it. The hero of that book being, Rean-Hammon's younger brother, Kelton.

Katie and me soon realized that we had to seperate our fictional world, into two entierly different places. She went and made different countries, and I made changes to mine. I also tried to focuse on my cultures a bit more, and Rean-Hammon's name was changed for the first time. He was called Athelstan. And Flora had long ago dropped off that name and was named Amaye.

My nano novel turned out wonderful, but when I came back to write FAD, it seemed to have lost all of it's aspects that I had loved. Athelstan (Rean-Hammon) was not the man he used to be. He was no longer the hero everyone talked about. He dissapeared. Katie's hero, Callan became the hero now for me.

Everything had changed, so so much from the small little story I had written so long ago. December was a trying month, as was the beginging of January. However, a few days ago, I have finnaly made my decision. I am no longer writing FAD. Something changed in it, although I was never sure what it was. I could never put my finger upon it. Somehow November, with the break of writing FAD, showed the book in it's true light. It was now dim, and old, no longer brilliant and new. The old hero, Rean-Hammon had dwindled down into an annoying doomful ranger. And Amaye, well, she was never that much to look at.

So here I am. How does it feel, to let two years of constant hard work, go to waist you may ask? From the ages of 14 to 16? Well, it hasn't gone to waist. I have learned so, so, so much in those two years! I learned how to make characters, I learned how you must sometimes just let your character lead the way. I have learned how a plot may change so many times, and I have learned to forget and let the past go.

It is true, many of my plot ideas, and some of my characters such as Loxlin (the older ranger) and Kelton, have lived on. Kelton (now named Edred) has his own book and someday soon, so will Loxlin (aka Ethelbert).

So where do I go from here? As many of you know, I am writing a knew story, which is on my story blog. I am enjoying working with and getting to know Latisha, and Hadrian (characters from it). I do not look at the past with regrets, but with hope for the future. I still continue to write wedding novels, with some adventure mixed in.

With that said, I am looking forward to February's challange, writing 30,000 words in my novel. By then I shall have at least 40,000 words in it, and I shall put it on hold, and in the month of March I will edit my nano novel.

From there? I do not know. I shall edit this story. I cannot say. Although I do hope that before this next November, I can have both my nano story a good way edited, and also my newest story edited. And in November, I shall start another story. Where from there?

I fondly bid you all farewell! God Bless!

Nature Study

This last spring my mom really wanted me and my sister to really focus on nature study. Nature Study is where my mom and us girls go on a nature walk of sorts. It usually was only in our back yard, we didn't go really anywhere special to do it. We would go outside with a box of colored pencils, our sketch books, and we would decide on a plant to study. Then we'd pull out our sketch books and sit upon the grass, and sketch the plant or animal we all decided upon.

Here is one of my sketches early in the spring:

And a little bit later...

This flower was in a store bought vase...

as was this one, this was was gotten for my mom for mother's day:

Anyhow, I wanted to share that with you guys. By the way, I am not really good at drawing at all, and I was quite happy to see the results of my sketches.

I fare ye well!

I want NaNoWriMo again! And my new story blog

I know I haven't posted in FOREVER, so I decided to do so now. I can't keep my thoughts off of NaNoWriMo lately. It seems as if for those few wonderful weeks I could do anything! I was flying through my story, and go a nice number of 50,000 words that I actually LIKED in one month. The whole month of December was a drag for me. I wrote a grand total of 3,000 words that month! *sarcastic grin*. I just wanted November to come again. Well December passed, and now it's already midway though January. Christmas and my birthday is now passed, and it feels like I'm JUST getting back to normal. Even now, when I get 1000 words written in a day, I feel incompleat, like I should be writing until I have about 2000 words.

Ah, oh well. I am back to piano lessons once more, and have just started to take a self-defense class. If anyone knows me in person, they know I HATE any kinds of sports, and I'd much rather sit and write. However I love my self-defense class!! The guy who teaches it also teaches Karate, and I might actually take Karate with him. *bounces up and down* It is soooo fun!!

What else? hmm...oh yes. I deleated FAD off of my computer. I'm not writing it for a VERY VERY LONG time! I sent the copy of it to Katie so that someone has it and can send it back to me when I ask for it later. I am determined not to even look at it for a full two months or more. I am SOO sick of it. On a brighter note, I am starting a new story. It is called The Shepherdess of North-Tynendell. I have a new blog for me to post parts of it. Click here to read the first chapter. I want everyone to read it, and tell me what you think. It is a first draft, so I DO NOT CARE ABOUT GRAMMER OR SPELLING I only want to know what you think of the characters and plot. I really like lots and lots of comments on it, so please please read it and comment even if you only read some of it! thank you!

Well this post seemed to be longer than I expected! That's good, I didn't think I had anything to say when I began it.

I fare ye all well!

50,000 words in 28 days!!!!!

As you can see from my title and the picture, I have finished my goal of writing a 50,000 word novel in one month. That means a little more than 1,600 words a day. Before I started, I thought that was going to be impossible for me to do. I have since learned something, that you can never know what you can do until you try. I had no idea 4,000 words in a single day was possible to write, but I did that too. Now for the first time ever I know how it feels to actually finish a novel. It is a rather pleasant feeling. Now my novel needs LOTS and LOTS of editing still, I mean there are TONS of scenes I haven't even written in it. But that's for January to edit. I'm taking the month of December to finish FAD's first draft.

But now I think I need a LONG nap!!

I fare ye well!

3. I love dancing about in the rain out in my backyard. With no shoes, and running up and down my little hill in my back yard. *sighs dreamily*

4. I hate shoes. They are so uncomfortable! I usually just go barefoot. Even outside.

5. I love thinking about fairies...they are so graceful!

6. I just bought a new notebook for NaNoWriMo...and a new pair of earphones, my old pair were so worn out, and I am going to buy a bunch of new songs also for nanowrimo... my friends and family think I am so weird! *grins* for trying NaNoWriMo...*giggles*

Okay, I'm here just to say that I will be gone for most of the month of November. You can still comment and PM me, but I won't be posting much at all on my blog. As it is, I am hardly writing on my blog at all now, so don't expect much from me in November.

Also, my brother who is in the military overseas will be comming back home in November sometime. I am soo exited!! *dances about* I haven't seen him since last Febuary when he took me to San Fransisco. So I can't wait to see him again! At first we weren't sure if he would be back in time for Christmas, but it turns out he will for sure! *jumps up and down*

Attempted Breakthrough

To have looked out your own window and seen someone try to break into a neighbor’s house, right before you eyes, is a rare site. At 12:30 in the afternoon it is even a rarer site. You can imagine my utter surprise when I did encounter both scenarios.

As was before stated it was around 12:30 in the afternoon. I had just walked from out of the dining room into my own bedroom, after having eaten my lunch. My thoughts were engaged upon other things, and I didn’t really notice Anna (mrs.gamgee) sitting at her desk and peering out of the window with a strange look upon her face. The desk just mentioned, was situated in front of a window facing our backyard. Our backyard in turn rests besides the backyard of the house behind ours.

I came up to behind her to show her a song on my ipod, but she didn’t seem intrigued. Nay, on the contrary she turned to me and said, “Molly, there’s a guy who’s freaking me out!”

I in turn looked out the window to see what she was looking so strangely at, and seeing nothing abnormal, she then further explained by pointing to a guy in a white shirt standing by the side of the house behind ours. She then told me that he had before knocked on all the doors and windows of the house, after which, he stood there for a very long time. All of this said, not to mention there was also no car in their driveway, and the person who lived there was a single mother and two teenage daughters. The girls were at school and the mom was probably at work. So it was very odd that some teenage guy was knocking on all the doors and windows when obviously no one was at home, plus by doing it in the backyard, not the front.

Anna then told me that she had seen him rip a screen upon a lower window, and then bang upon the window itself. By that time I too was also a little out of sorts and when I saw him throw something at the side of the house or a window, I couldn’t rightly tell, I got up and quickly informed my mom.

I came into the kitchen where mom was busily cooking away, and told her what we had just seen. Once I had pointed out the guy to my mom, she picked up the phone and called the police. Not five minutes later, they parked their cars in front of our house and came to the back of our yard. Meanwhile all three of us were standing back in my room to try to get a better view of the guy. When the police walked into our back yard, mom and us went out to the backdoor to talk to them.

By this time the guy was already out of sight, we weren’t sure if he had gotten into the house, or if he had given up. The police officers asked us the guy’s description and they thought that they knew where he might be. They then departed to go find him, and informed us that they would probably be coming back later.

The time was now 1:00, and I couldn’t focus enough to do school, so I basically sat at my desk thinking about what I had seen, and ended up thinking of the bad guys in my story.

A little while later a police officer drove up to our house again, and wanted me and my sister to ride with him in the back of his car and go with him to identify the man they had caught. He also asked my mom, and she said she’d just drive behind him and follow him. I then, being shy and not really wanting to sit in the back of the police car, decided along with my sister to go with my mom. Only now, I wish I had gone with the police officer, I would have had more to tell of. Oh well.

We rode just a half a block down our street and stopped in front of a house. I instantly recognized the guy, and suddenly a sickening feeling crept over me, realizing that the teenager lived there. It was true I had seen a few teenage boys before playing basketball in that driveway.

The police car stopped and we pulled to the side of the road. As I looked out the car window, I could see the boys family all standing in the yard, looking annoyed. One or two older teenage boys looking at the scene, also. The suspect was actually not facing us, he was made to look the other way so he couldn’t see who we were, but I knew all his brothers could. A bunch of police officers with guns strapped at their sides stood around me as I was asked to get out of the car by myself, and then asked a bunch of questions: My name, my date of birth, if I had seen the suspect before, if I recognized him to be the same one who I had seen in the back of my neighbor’s yard, etc. After a few minutes, I went back into our car, and my sister was asked to get out and it was then her turn to answer the questions as they wrote them down. It was then my mom’s turn, but she didn’t know a whole lot, she hadn’t seen the boy for very long before the police had arrived.

We then drove home.

It was not until later that evening when I was standing in my back yard talking on the phone with Katie, when the woman who lived in the house behind us, saw me and walked up to me. She asked if we were the ones who had seen and called the police, I told her yes. She then thanked me profusely and told me that the guy had indeed broken a window, and if it weren’t for the police would have most likely gotten into the house and maybe stolen something. I smiled and told her it was no problem; that we were glad to have helped.

Now mom has told us that whenever she leaves the house, Anna and me are to make sure both the back and the front doors are locked. It is kind of scary knowing that the boy lives just a few houses down from us. The whole incident gave me a new perspective on things, so I intend to make sure the doors are locked when I’m home alone.

I hope you all enjoyed my exiting day yesterday!

I fare ye well!

A poem

Here is a poem I wrote, being inspired by the moonlight in the night drive home from church. I wrote some of it on a church bulletin that was in my Bible, and sribbled it down until I came home to type it out. Please tell me what you think.

Her ebony tresses fell silvery in the moonlight,

She danced by the light of the moon.

The silver sphere shown down from heaven,

Its gaze fell softly upon the wood nymph,

Dancing, dancing,

Dancing in the moonlit night.

Her voice lifted its song silver-tuned in the moonlight.

She sang by the light of the moon.

The feathery mists smiled, framing the moon.

The forest nymph was Swayentlay – the moon’s daughter,

Singing, singing,

Singing in the moonlit night.

Her pale skin shown white in the moonlight,

Her beauty shown in the light of the moon.

And she prayed on in the moonlight,

Her voice whispered a tune to her King.

Praying, praying,

Praying in the moonlit night.

And she danced on in the moonlight,

She sang on by the light of the moon.

The darkening shadows crept through the night,

But Swayentlay danced on through the night.

Dancing, dancing,

Dancing in the moonlit night.

The veiling mists departed in the moonlight,

Silently by the light of the moon.

Her sweet song stopped on her lips,

Her dancing feet ceased in the night,

Swayentlay, Swayentlay,

Swayentlay in the moonlit night.

The silvery light broke the edge of the night.

A hush of wind blows the enchanting night.

Gone is she, the moon’s daughter,

Swayentlay, the moon’s silver-tuned daughter.

Not a trace, not a trace,

Not a trace is left in the sunlit morn.

The sun slowly breaks the moonlight,

Its golden shafts outline the morning light.

Not a trace is left to show where she –

The moon’s dancing dark haired daughter may be.

No more, no more,

No more is she in the sunlit morn.

But still when the moonlight is strongest,

When the darkness is longest,

Swayentlay dances on in the moonlight,

Her voice silvery-sweet in the moonlight.

Dancing, dancing,

Dancing in the moonlit night.

Laptop Computer!!! And My Awesome Brother...

Hey!
I'm not sure if any of you know, but I have an older brother who is 20 and in the military overseas. Well he was the one who took me to see my other brother and his family who live in San Fransisco California, which is a long way away from where I live. Anyway, that was last spring when he was on leave and came home for a few weeks. We took a plane ride out there, and it was very very nice of him to pay for my ticket.
Well he just told me that he was going to give me his old laptop computer!!! He said he would send it in about two weeks or so...*faints* I can't wait! You see, my computer, is well...how do I say this nicely? *clears throat* it let's just say is very old, and falling apart...literally. And it freezes on me all the time...you have no idea how many times I've had to restart it, and I've lost so many story files.
Anyway So I'm expecting to get to soon! And not only that, but my brother just told me that he is sending us a Wii. We should get it , he says buy this Friday! I can't believe it! Anyway I am sooooo exited to get the laptop though! I'll have my very own, and I can take it to my room, or out in the back yard in the grass while I write my story! And that is much more inspiring than in side the little office room that the computer is sitting in now!!!
I fare ye well!

Trust and Integrity

Hello!
I must admit I had a blast writing my last post! I was even tempted to end it without me telling you I was just joking and then a few days later saying I was joking...but I resisted *grins*. Anyway I have come to tell you the name of my story, as I believe Katie is going to keep the title Faithfulness and Deceit. So I found one that matched better with my plot anyway. What do you think of Trust and Integrity? For that is the name I chose, at least it is right now, I might change it if I find something better. And yes, I still have the whole Rean-Hammon and Aella (formerly known as Flora) plot. I still plan on finishing it by the end of September, so then all my dear blogging friends may be able to read it! *smiles*  Well I must leave now, I'm going to try to write!
I fare ye well!

FAD...I am not writing it anymore

Ok, I am depressed...
Two years of FAD has finally won over me. I am done, I am not going to write it anymore. Two years of writing, deleting, re-writing, re-deleting, re-re-writing, re-re-deleting has spent it's tole upon me. I simply cannot write it anymore. For those of you who say I cannot stop I have no sympathy for you. I do admit I feel as though I was deserting you guys, but I am too angry and mad to care. I should be spending my time on other things, I cannot keep doing this to myself. I go from floating high, to falling off a cliff into a dark ocean where my muse then leaves me.
All my characters I will leave to fend for themselves...I do not care. MaidenCapitolaBallot, I am sorry about this, but I don't think I have what it takes to be an author. Well, maybe not that, but not an author for FAD. I won't pick up a pen (or type) until NaNoWriMo in November.
I know I shall get many comments on this post, so vent your heat.
I fare ye well,
~Molly

p.s. Did I fool ya? Well I am not going to stop writing, far from it! I am just splitting off from writing with Katie. We have decided our plot in FAD is really two different plots sorta shoved together in one book. So, *looks around to make sure no one is armed with sword or bow* we will be continuing everything we have been writing, only we splitting them into two different books as they should be. Tell me all your thought upon this subject!

Update upon my life inside my novel-in-progress...

This last weekend Katie and her family came up to my house! She came on Thursday and didn't leave until Sunday. It was a very nice visit, but I was a bit worried that like every other time Katie comes we (even though we're writing FAD together) don't get a single thing written. Well this time, Katie and me decided to change that.

So here we are, both in the same room, with the door shut to block out distracting noises, me at my big desktop computer, Katie with her laptop, our backs to each other, and both with earphones in our ears to block out all distractions. That day I wrote a little more than 900 words, Katie wrote about five more words than I. And all together we  added about three pages onto our document of Faithfulness and Deceit, which is a lot to say for us.

We now have about 16,800 words in FAD, and at the moment I am more inspired to write then ever, I believe it's the same with Katie. But we must thank MaidenCapitolaBallot. It was after reading a very GOOD part in her story that we were so inspired to write FAD. Thank you Heather!

Well now I must bid you farewell! I am just about to click over to my word document of FAD to type a bunch out.

Back to School...

I have recently received remarks from public schooling kids like, "You're homeschooled! I would hate to be homeschooled!" or "Homeschooled? Don't you wish you went to school?" *grins* *breaks into a fit of convulsive laughter* The answer is no. I would NOT like to go to school, especially a high school. For instance, picture this in your minds.

…A clean white quilt pulled over a twin size bed upon which a teenage girl sits propped up with two pillows at her back. A pile of schoolbooks, an ipod sitting next to her, a bowl of cut apples at her bedside, which she sometimes munches upon, and a glass of ice tea. Not only that but the windows are opened letting a cool August breeze blow into her face accompanied with the sound of birds chirping outside her window...

I think it is the public schooling kids who should be wishing THEY were homeschooled. Not only that, but I have the best teacher who I could possibly have, one who encourages me academically and spiritually, one who has taught me throughout my whole life and who will continue to teach and encourage me as I grow older; a teacher that I will always have.

It is that time of year again and I started my first day of school today. The scene I described was really how I did much of my school today. And as the winter comes on, the scene will change some. I will still be upon my bed, with everything the same, except I will be snuggled up in a warm crocheted blanked which my mom made me, with a cup of hot tea next to me and a candle or two burning upon my bed side table.

I hope everyone else’s school year will be as blessed as mine!

I fare ye well!

Perfect Day, a very beautiful song, please listen to it if you like Enya or music like that

This is such a beautiful song! Please watch it if you like lovely melodies sung by a talented Miriam Stockley. This is a clip from the end credits of Peter Rabbit, a aninimated movie I used to watch based after Beattrix Potter's lovely ilistrated children's books. I used to turn the movie off when it came to this point, but I haven't watched it in a very long time, and the other month I listened to it again, and instantly fell in love with it. And if you want it, you can find it on i-tunes for a dollar. Anyway you have to search the artists name though, not the name of the song, 'A Perfect Day' for I don't think it will come up. I thought I was going to have to buy it on Amazon for a bunch of money, so I was so happy when I found it on itunes! And now I thought I would share it with you all.
I fare ye well!

A poem I just wrote, you will never guess who it's about! (just joking :)

A pen in her hand,

A whisper of thought,

Leaks upon the paper wrought.

In her hand, she controls her pen,

Shaping each thought into a word so fine.

Her pen begins to scratch,

It pauses - she is lost in thought.

She dips her pen into the ink,

And places it upon the sheet,

In her mind, she words her thoughts.

How amazing is one drop of ink,

For through it,

Every year that stands between us,

Just seems to melt away.

She is speaking strait to me,

Though she never knew, - who I was to be.

Miss Austen knew just how to shape her words,

Like a golden thread of time, she opens our mind.

I thank the Lord for Jane,

For He knew just what was to be,

And ordained it in His good time.

And though I wish I knew Miss Jane,

I shall see her yet, and we shall sit side by side,

And in that glorious place abide.

Yes it is about Jane Austen! I have been finding out a lot about her, and I really admire her. Her brother said she was a devout Christan, and some of her last words she spoke before she died were: "God grant me patience, pray for me, oh, pray for me!" Well I shall write later!

I fare ye well!
