Whatever will be, will be

May. 27, 2007 - It's Summertime, and the Livin's Good!

Nothing to do, and all the time there is to do it in.

I might make that my new motto.  I wonder if I need one.  Que sera sera has worked for a long time for us.

We planted flowers in sunday school this morning, and I just took them outside and re-planted them in my flower bed/herb garden.  I planted some spinach seeds, too, because the first ones I planted didn't come up.  I'm not sure if it was the seeds or me, so I thought I'd re-try it.

We (me and the girls) spent the evening at mom's.  Karen and babies came up...they're so cute!... well, the babies are. lol

My girls got SO dirty playing in the dust beneath the swing they both had to have a shower when we got home, and I'll have to wash their clothes separately.  They were just fiflthy...I don't think they've been quite that dirty for quite a while.

Daddy's been letting them watch movies on his computer in the bedroom...that's been big this past week.

Also, they borrowed a Lil'Abner movie from mom, which prompted questions about Sadie Hawkins Day.  I couldn't answer those questions, so I turned to the ever faithful internet for the answers.  What ever did we do without it?

May. 25, 2007 - Today and this week...

Papaw bought the girls new Bibles. $50 each. Impossible price to me. But, they are nice.

I've been plagued by allergies this week. I took a pill Wednesday night, and it made me so loopy I decided I'd rather be sneezy and coughey and drippley than loopy. I've been coughing all day...like a tickle in my throat. I'm all hoarse and it's dreadful.

We (Emma and I) made peanut butter cookies and peanut butter candies today. We've been eating the cookies as fast as they come out of the oven.

The girls have been setting up playhouses for their toys...Emma a long-legged frog and Anna a stuffed rabbit. Emma's using Polly Pocket (the big ones) furniture, and Anna is using Barbie furniture. It's cute.

They've been alternating between playing outside and watching movies today. The frog and rabbit go to the movies for fun...sometimes they bring their cats with them. The girls set movie times and then made sure the animals were there for the start of the movie. lol

I got the bestest stuff! I'm so pleased.

Apr. 28, 2007 - What has been going on here...

I'm just trying to stay on the computer so an annoying little something can't call~AGAIN.  He called at 8:30 this morning...which wouldn't have been so bad, except Daddy didn't get in bed until 4:30, so he was kind of miffed about it.

I'm going to try to get the girls on some kind of schedule for the summer, starting this week.  I have math pages for Anna and Writing Prompts for Emma.  Just a little to keep them up-to-top on their skills.

Daddy rented a workout video from the library yesterday, and the girls are working out with it right now.   I bet he'll want to get them one to work out to all the time...probably he'll want to buy one sometime soon.

Tomorrow the library is having a *Dino Day*.  Anna is wanting to go to that.  She's wild about dinosaurs right now.  And birds...we have three feeders up now.  We're going to have to get materials and work on a birdbath soon.  I saw a cardinal drinking from the dog's water bowl last week....probably not the best of ideas. ; )  Plus, it's too deep for them to bathe in.

I wish we could do a fountain with a waterfall and small pool at the bottom...that'd be cool.  I might ask Daddy if he has a small pump around we could use to make something like that.

Apr. 25, 2007 - Night at the Museum

If we watch Night at the Museum, does that count as a field trip? lol

The girls are watching it for the third time.  It's a pretty good movie.  I like best the part where the director comes in and asks him about the tiny roman in the stocks with the wild west guy watching him. lol  I get the biggest kick out of those tiny guys.  I like where they go over the bank and there's a tiny puff of smoke, too.  That's so cute.

We've been cleaning up around outside.  The girls have been doing a lot of bird watching.  They got me to print off some bird pictures to color.  Then Anna decided to trace them...that came out cute. : )

We re-did the living room ceiling...painted and all that.  It's so nice.  Slowly but surely we're fixing it up around here.

I fixed up the back deck yesterday.  I cleaned out the grill and  scrubbed the chairs and set every thing up for cookouts this summer.  I still need to paint the table, but it'll have to wait until I find some paint.

Everything's coming together, though. : )

Apr. 18, 2007 - I feel bad today...

I think it's allergies.  I took an allergy pill but I don't know if I felt better before or after I took it.  I was light-headed and woozy before I took it, and woozy and light-headed after I took it.

Anna said her tummy was hurting her.  She rested a little then said it stopped hurting.  I always panic when they say their tummy hurts, without a reasonable reason.  I always think appendix.  I wonder why I do that? lol

They've watched tv most of the afternoon.  I napped a little, then worked on some curriculum stuff, then napped again.  I'm still tired, though.

Apr. 9, 2007 - Oh, What the Heck, I'll Say it once more...

Happy Easter!

I've been up since about 5:45 this morning.  I just suddenly woke up and couldn't get back to sleep, so I went ahead and got up...checked e-mail and all that...

The girls looked beautiful (as usual) in their Easter dresses.  I don't believe I've ever seen prettier young ladies and handsomer young gentlemen than I had in my Sunday School class today.  Behaviour-wise, though....I'll leave it to your imagination.

We dyed eggs last night, and hunted a few today.  It was too cold to be outside much.

Apr. 3, 2007 - Joke for today

Anna: How is Dad like a kitten?

Mom: I don't know, how?

Anna: His eyes haven't opened yet!

lol!  Anna apparrently felt jokey this morning.  Daddy didn't get in bed until 4:30, so he's still asleep.  She thought it was amusing.

Mar. 30, 2007 - All Done! : )

The girls finished up their school work today.  We're relieved.  : )  They're decorating for our anniversary tonight.  ; )

Yep, that's right...another anniversary.  Last year, if anyone was reading here then, they'll remember a coyote chase on our last anniversary.  This year makes 13.

Whoo-hoo!

Daddy's already gone to bed...I need to go and get out his present so it can be sitting, waiting for him in the morning.

Mar. 28, 2007 - Cleaning and Cleaning!

I've been decluttering and cleaning, and it looks SO MUCH BETTER around here!

I got to my storage building day before yesterday...so much nicer!

Yesterday I spent all day washing shoes...bleah...but, now they're clean and drying on the porch.

I'm so tired today, I'm going to do as little as possible...I might go through some old homeschooling catalogs...then again, I might not.

Now I remember why I've stopped updating my blog here....this and the virus thing...BLEAH!

Watch, this post will come through, unless I actually put something revelant that I want to remember on it.

Grrrrrr....

Mar. 11, 2007 - Hoarding?!?

The latest Readers Digest has an article about hoarders and hoarding.  I went to their site and took their quiz  (rd.com/hoarding), and it said I wasn't a hoarder.  {if} I was truthful, and {if} it was right, I'm not a hoarder.  That's kind of funny, because reading the article, I *really* identified with the symptoms of a hoarder.  It REALLY made me want to de-clutter, though, and I guess a *true* hoarder would not do that.  If it stays warm I might clean my closet and storage building this week.

We have come to an agreement with the girls.  As long as it's pretty outside, they don't have to do schoolwork.  They finished Old World History and Geography, and Emma finished English.  That leaves just Math, Spelling, Art (4 weeks left), Bible (2 weeks left), and Anna's English.  They finished up their book-it....got their last pizza Friday.  I made them certificates for their portfolios.  We also did a program at the library "You can be a Storyteller".  It was cool, and they got a certificate for that, too.  That kind of stuff looks so *good* in their portfolios.  ; )   (Not to mention, they enjoyed it)

After church today we went out to eat with Mom, then to the park.  She had Diamond and Brianna with her.  The girls played on the playground, then went exploring by the creek.  Anna found 2 baseballs in the creek, and they both found lots of freshwater clam shells.  Emma found one that looked still alive, so she put it back.

Having two kids who drag things in all the time doesn't help with NOT hoarding, either.

Mar. 9, 2007 - Hard Work, And Sore!

Well, for the last two days I've been putting roof coating on our roof.  I am SOOOO sore!  It looks really good, though.  We got the front part finished, and could have done more on the back, but I dropped a bucket off the roof and spilled about half of it.  I was tired of working, anyway.  ; )  We *almost* managed to keep the coating off the deck.  Anna stepped in some, and tracked it several spots, but Daddy got it up {mostly}.

Speaking of Anna, she had the WORST luck for the two days we were working on the roof.  She kept asking to be able to get up on the roof and help, but I told her with her luck like it was NO WAY!!!  First, she was running with a stick {how many times have we heard not to do THAT!} and fell on it, and cut her leg.  I thought we should take her for stiches, but Daddy thought she'd live {she did}.  Yesterday morning I was looking at it again and saying I still thought we should take her, and she went in the bedroom and jumped on the bed and hit her head on a post and blacked her eye.  I said, we can't take her now, it'll look like we've been abusing her!  She had a lovely black eye today.

...Speaking of today....

We went to a BOOK SALE!  Yeah!  Over 35,000 used books.  My kind of place.  We picked out every book we wanted and only managed to spend $62.75.  Actually, it should have been $60.25, but the woman counting added wrong, but I'm not standing around to count up $60 in .25 books again. : )  my time's worth more than that. : )  Still it was fun, and Sunday they have a bag sale, $10 a bag...I'm going back for that!

Mar. 6, 2007 - I Almost Forgot This...

I talked to my sister last night on the phone, and she was telling me about some classes she had to take for her job.  The first was a CPR class.  The instructor said, "You all look like you're interested and ready to learn."  One of her co-workers said something about them being really smart... anyway...

The instructor, beginning his lesson, was showing them the plastic thingey to put over the {body's} mouth.  Karen said, "But what if they breathe in really hard and choke on it?"  He's like..."If they are breathing, they don't need CPR, now do they?"  Then he was talking about falls, and said, "If someone has fallen, don't try to move them, as you could injure them further."  She speaks up again..."But what if they are up walking around?"  He's like..."Ummm, then you wouldn't need to worry about it?"  I told her she probably gave him something to laugh about with his wife at dinner.  She didn't have the lung capacity to do the breathing, so he told her to do the chest compressions.  She couldn't do them either.  He finally gave up on her, and told her boss that in case of an emergency to send her to call 911.

The other class she took was a alcohol class, because they have a bar where she works.  They had a printout with the levels of intoxication, from about 0.1-so far...I forget how far..., and she was reading through them saying, "Well, I do that, and that, and that..."  She functions on about the same level if she were legally drunk, all the time.  It's very amusing to watch her.  The original "Can't walk and chew gum at the same time", KWIM?  Judging from her questions in the CPR class, her instructor probably thought so, too.  lol  At her last job, when she moved away, then moved back, they were like, "We'll have to buy another box of band-aids, Karen's back."  She literally uses a box a week.

We got to talking about light bulbs...I've been breaking and blowing them like mad the last few weeks, and she was glad to know she wasn't the only one.  I actually blew so many that I had to go out and buy two boxes of bulbs.  Her husband was reading the back of a box of bulbs and it said something about it [the bulbs] lasting a year.  He told her he would give it two weeks with her in the house.  It's the freakiest thing.  Daddy thinks we're really aliens who have taken over human bodies.

I really do wonder what would make things do like that.  Really, we don't like to be around electronics too much, because we tear them up.  I sit as far back from the computer as I can, when I'm working on it.  I can't even weigh myself, because we have a digital scale, and it doesn't work with me.  Not that I really want to know my weight, anyway...that'd just be depressing.

My mom once had some divining rods, and they were tracing her water pipe from the house to the septic tank, so they could dig it up and work on it.  It looked so interesting, and I wanted to try it, but the dern things wouldn't work for me.  They just folded in on themselves, and did nothing else.  Just not fair.  I was reading about divining for graves....you're supposed to be able to tell all sorts of things from that, but it wouldn't work with me.  I thought about getting Daddy to try it, with me standing way, WAY, back.  He thinks it's all bunkus, though.  Might be...sounds interesting to try, whether it is or not.

Mar. 6, 2007 - Icky Creatures

Daddy's watching a video about snakes...eeewwww.  Anna is reading as I type.  Out loud.  I'll have to stop typing.  She says "No, don't do it!"  Now she's reading silently.  Much Better.

We started to take her to the doctor today, but decided we didn't want to go anywhere, so we called and cancelled.  She has an odd rash...I'm going to try baby diaper rash ointment before I take her.  Mom suggested using that.  She said it will clear up most rashes, so...  I figured if it doesn't clear up in a day or two, I'll call and reschedule.  We *really* didn't want to catch a virus or something.  I Hate going to the doctor in the winter!

Anna and I made a suet block for the birds today.  It's in the freezer, setting up right now...we'll put it in the feeder tomorrow.

She has seen a lot of interesting birds lately.  Yesterday was White-Breasted Nuthatch, Tufted Titmouse, and black-Capped Chickadee.  Today she saw Male and Female Cardinal, House Finch, Wren, Red-Bellied Woodpecker, and Mourning Dove.  I think it's so cool.  I've never seen a Tufted Titmouse before, and I didn't realize House Finches are red.

Emma went with Daddy today, and brought me a daffodill!  She made the CUTEST cartoon yesterday.  I tried to upload it, but couldn't get it to go here.  Bleah.  I have such a hard time with re-sizing, and with a cartoon, you can't see the words enough to read them.  It was a good one, though.

I've got dishes to wash.  Daddy's already gone to bed, and I'm getting tired, too.

Anna's turn.

hello  this   is   the   first   time  i  have  done   this.  we  are  watching   a  nature  move.  itis   interesting.  ther  are  snakes,  momy  hates  snakes  i  can't  verry  well  blame  her .    good-by

Emma's Turn.

Hi!  I'm  Emma!   I  am afraid of snakes,  too.  I'm not a bit tired,  though. I am 11 years old.  I am going to take my spelling test tonight. It has been a great, well not great, day.I want to stay up late tonight, but I doubt mom will let me. I think she is getting tired.             Too bad.            Good-night to  all and to all a good-night!      Very Truly  Yours,  Emma!

Mom, again

BTW, I got some more things I had ordered.  Three dvd's and a cd-rom from Howard Hughes Medical Institute.  We haven't watched them yet, so I don't know if they are any good.  I'll be sure to blog about them if they are good.
