Recital Hair
My girls are "blessed" with MY straight hair. Kaitlyn's has a bit of wave in it, if cut right and WILL hold curl, but Hannah's is as straight as a rail, like MINE!
This year's recital hair was supposed to be half up, half down... spiral curls.
We had to experiment a bit to get it right, but finally we did!
Here is what worked for us:
1. We started with dry, clean hair (but not necessary TOO clean!)
2. I pulled the front part into the "prescribed" ponytail.
3. I clipped all but a section from the back up.
4. I spritzed the section with water from a spray bottle. I had to learn to resist the temptation to overwet the hair or it would still be damp in the morning and would not hold the hair.
5. I spritzed the section with hairspray. We used Aussie Instant Freeze.
6. I rolled small amounts with foam rollers spiraling in towards the center of the back of the head.

7. After completing each section of curlers I hairsprayed again.
8. After finishing all of the sections I hairsprayed AGAIN.
9. The girls slept in the curlers with a "silk" shower cap over the whole thing. Since the curlers were mostly in the back and not on the sides they had no problem sleeping soundly on their sides.

10. In the morning, we gently unrolled the curlers and when necessary recurled sections around my fingers to shape the curls the right direction.
11. MORE hairspray!

12. DO NOT comb... and just wait awhile for the curls to relax a little.

13. One last spray and VOILA! Beautiful Recital Curls!

Kaitlyn's hair is REALLY thick and took 75-80 curlers, but her hair (though it would loosen up) remained beautifully curled for two to three days in a row!
Hannah's hair is moderately thick and took about 35 curlers, but had to be re-rolled each time.
I did my friend's daughter's hair and they have thinner hair and it took about 15-20 curlers for each one of them and theirs last for the day and on into the evening... just more loosely. I think if I had put more curlers in these two girls' hair it would have held until washed again!

I just wanted to stop by and to ask Manen nalyë? I used to do that but decided that a perm was easier! I haven't had a perm since Sept. though but my hair is still curly!!! It is somewhat natural curly but it is frizzy. The perm helps it to be un-frizzy! Sleeping on those rollers hurts! LOL Both my sisters can't have perms, i mean their hair won't hold a perm, so I'm thankful my hair will! I never wear my hair due to name calling and I don't have to with a perm!!! Happy Curls!!! I LOVE them! I'm glad God didn't give me them though or I wouldn't want straigh hair! LOL
Hope you are well!!

Lovely daughters and pretty curl! I have 3 little girls with very straight hair. Mine was rail straight until I became pregnant with my son--he's now a year old. After 3+ years of straight I now, due to some weird hormone fluke have a little wave/friz action going on.
Your daughter's hair looks lovely! How was the recital?

I admire your patience! I don't think I could roll all of those curlers. The results were absolutely gorgeous though. I hope the recital went well!

Oh, that hair is beautiful.
What I find funny, is that my daughter has terribly naturally curly hair, and has fought if for years. As soon as she decided to let it do its thing, she started getting comments on how pretty her hair looked. LOL
She would be jealous of your daughters straight hair.

In this case the hair is always nicer...
