Hannah could hardly wait! Recital! Fun Day! Hurry up! WAKE UP! (Even though recital is hours away!) Saturday's performance was from 1-4. We had to be there at 12:15.

Kaitlyn was THRILLED when we told her that after recital she may keep SOME of the make-up as an early 14th birthday present! (Just the mascara and tinted lip gloss):

When it was time to go, we grabbed our already packed recital baskets... the girls put on their costumes (with a cover shirt on top to keep them clean) and we loaded up in the car to go!
On Saturday, we had tickets to actually watch the show.
Kaitlyn in her cover shirt! Our friend Jackie with Hannah!
We invited two guests who are like family to us... Sue Beck, who loves all of our children, but has a very dear friendship with Jordan and Jackie Kabel, who was one of the prayer warriors who was faithful to uphold Hannah in prayer during her first three years of life until she was healed from a painful birth defect!
After Saturday's show we went to Godfather's Pizza for lunch! The boys were cranky by this time! THREE (or four) HOURS of GIRLY STUFF! ARRRGH!
Ian: seriously annoyed! Ian: trying hard NOT to smile!
Russ bought roses for the girls at the grocery store, but by the time we got back to the van they were not looking too great! Jackie bought the PERFECT flower for Hannah though (and a plant for me and a box of candy for Kaitlyn!)
Hannah LOVES THIS flower! She also received a yellow one in a graduation cap from her friend, Kaylie, at Kindergarten Graduation!
Kaitlyn took some great advice from Sue. When she got home she recut the stem (at an angle) of her wilted rose, immediately placed it in warm water with one aspirin and wouldn't you know it... it perked right up and lasted a WEEK!
Sue not only had that wilty rose perked up in no time... she managed to get the boys to laughing and giggling too! She is such a sweetheart and she has been through so much this year. I am inspired by her inner strength and JOY of the LORD!
Jordan told Sue all about The Fallacy Detective book we just finished and all of us had a great time telling each other riddles and mind puzzlers!
NOT only was Russ TIRED... He REALLY did NOT want to have his picture taken! Here is his most tired, annoyed, trying to tolerate the day look! Don't worry! He began to laugh and enjoy himself after a few slices of PIZZA!
BESIDES... He has a soft spot for the little ones when they give that certain smile of sheer happy delight!
Here is Hannah trying to plant her dead rose when we got back home! Too cute!
So ended the FIRST day of performances!
Sunday's performance was from 5-8 and we had to be there by 4:15. Russ stayed home with the boys this time! They were happy about that! And I worked back stage with Hannah's class!
Backstage, the children colored and played while waiting for their turn on stage. One of the mom's had the girls journal little thank-you notes for a class photo album that she gave as a gift to the teacher!
Here is Kaitlyn's class lined up and ready to perform "Breakaway".
I did not get a class picture of her Tap class backstage. Their costumes were weird anyway! (not immodest, just WEIRD!)
Sophie: Painted w/ ColorWonder Paints Hannah w/her friend, Judy!
One of the fun things backstage, was getting a chance to see friends from previous years of dance. Hannah was in "Little Black Raincloud" with Hannah last year!
Paint With All the Colors of the Wind:
(L to R): Hannah Smasne, Kaylie Green, Emily Aaro, Natalie Roy, Olivia Brown, Hannah Brown, Savannah Brown, Kayley-Lynn Brocksome, and Gracie Phillips
The Kaylie, Hannah and Gracie are the 3 peas in a pod. Hannah is two days older than Kaylie and Gracie and they have been together in nursery, Sunday School, Children's Choir, Rainbows, Daisies, Children's Church, Kindergarten and Ballet! They come to each other's birthday parties and they love each other like sisters!
Hannah and Kait: after the show Jazzy and Tanya (the dance school owner)
Actually, the picture of Jazzlyn and Tanya was taken at the Dance School the following week during Pictures! Jazzy was actually SAYING, "CHEEEEZE!"
One last surprise: Trophies with Ballerinas on them!
Whew! Even posting recital pictures makes me TIRED!
