There is a closet under the stairs that my children call "The Secret Lab". It is just a closet... they drag our Usbourne Science Encyclopedia in there along with the calculator and other things that make them feel like it is a scientific place. They also play spaceship in there from time to time.
Recently Ian made an alarm for the door. Now, everytime the door opens the alarm sounds!
Then, he and Jordan added a top secret security system:

If you look closely, you will see the alarm (that really works) taped in the upper right corner of the door near the top hinge.

First they punch in a numerical code on the "key pad".
Then, the move over to the black circle dot in the middle. That is their fingerprint scanner.
Then, the rectangular black box is where they scan a bar code that they made.
After that, to the right is an oval black dot that is the EYE scanner that they look into!
One of the other slots is a DNA scanner that they put a strand of hair into.
And just above the door knob is a pocket that they slip a badge into!
It is hilarious to watch this whole scenario!
Once inside the "lab" the green masking tape maps out circuits all over the walls!

Another eye scan and password are required to start up the system!
These are some very inventive children. Now if they would only invent a way to clean their rooms without being reminded! Yeah, right!
