We got up around 5 AM on Thursday, finished packing, got breakfast and drove to the airport. We turned in the rental car, got through security (had to tie Russ' shoes for him b/c stooping down hurt him), and got a seat on the flight we had hoped for around 9 AM. Since we were flying stand by each leg of the journey was a big maybe!
When we got to Salt Lake City we had 45 minutes to get to our connecting flight. Russ was doing well, but I was worried about getting there on time. We made it just when we expected the flight to start boarding and yet... it was the WRONG gate! They had changed gates... to a totally different concourse.
We literally had to walk at top speed (almost jogging). I was so worried Russ was rip a stitch or something! We made it just in the nick of time and DID get onto that flight.
We didn't get to sit together on that one, but he was directly behind me.
When we got on that flight, I called my friend to let them know we DID get the flight we wanted and would be in Sea-Tac in less than 2 hours since they were picking us up. My friend's husband then informed me that my friend had taken my 10 year old to the Emergency Room b/c he had been stung by a yellow jacket and both of his eyes had swollen shut!
I told Russ about it across the back of my seat and then settled in for the flight. (Trying not to worry!) Turned out the lady next to me was a naturopathic doctor and she gave me some tips on what to do for the bee sting when I got home.
When we got to baggage claim, there was my friend, with Ian... and I'll tell you what... if he had not been with her, I would not have known he was my child. He looked AWFUL. I will have to upload a picture later! It looks just terrible!!!!
Diana drove Russ, Ian and me home and then drove back to her house (just 2 miles from our house) to get Noah and the boys' luggage. By then, Russ was hurting, so I got him settled on the couch to rest.
After greeting Noah and paying the housesitter, Diana drove the house sitter to the church (she had choir practice a short while later), and then she drove me to pick up the girls! The friend who was watching the girls also kept my van so she would have enough room to transport her children and mine.
Thankfully, that friend had all of the girls' stuff all loaded up in the van! So after a short visit I loaded up the girls and headed to pick up Jordan.
We loaded Jordan's things in the van and I visited with the lady who had kept him for a bit and then headed home.
By the time I got home it was dinner time so we decided to get a pizza. I drove back into town, (and to the health food store to get what the naturopathic doctor suggested) and got the pizza and some videos.
Wouldn't you know it? The children were fighting like cats and dogs? I kind of thought they would be so happy to see each other. I was really saddened by their behavior. I would like to say they were sweet today, but they were truely mean and cranky. I guess they have to settle back into the home routine.
I spent the whole day today cleaning and unpacking. Russ rested and the children helped a bit, but mostly fought and fought! Arggh!
Tomorrow I am going to need to get groceries and finish doing laundry and cleaning. (Thankfully, Diana did Ian and Noah's laundry so that helps tremendously!)
Sorry for rambling and rambling... just sorting it all out!
Its the first turn of the post reversal side of the roller coaster! Can't wait to see what will happen over the next few days, months and weeks!!!!
