Yay... after multiple stops and starts for the past week today is shaping up to be a "normal" school day! Too bad tomorrow is Saturday... now that we are back in the groove I hate to lose my momentum!
So far today:
Our NEW thing is that my sweet husband has been getting up 15 minutes earlier than he needs to so he can have a brief devotional time with us before work. This week our theme has been being "whole hearted" and he has been reading to us out of Acts chapter 8.
Then, after he left we did our morning chore routine (including breakfast).
We usually start school at 8, but I was appalled when I started realizing how poorly the children have been completing their chores and decided that a training session was in order... so we were almost a full hour late starting our formal school work, but hey... home ec. counts, doesn't it? (Not to mention training in Godly character and reinforcing our theme of whole-heartedness!)
We sang a hymn: Blest Be the Ties That Bind .
Then we read from Herein Is Love: Exodus. The thing that most touched me was reflecting on the fact that after how rebellious the Israelites had been against Moses' leadership he pleaded and interceded with the Lord not to just destroy them and bless only him. Then, to realize that Jesus did that same thing for us on a much bigger scale. Kaitlyn and I both became a tiny bit emotional discussing the thought that Jesus prays for US! WOW!!! How powerful!
Then, we had our prayer time. Our list is rather lengthy and sometimes it is hard for the little ones to be still during our whole prayer time, but they did VERY well today!
Next we read a chapter from The Thinking Toolbox! (which we are thoroughly enjoying btw!)
After that I read Acts Chapter 4 and asked Bible Quiz Team questions over it. (Our first Quiz Meet is tomorrow!!!)
Then I read a part of the first chapter in the book Azusa Street by Frank Bartleman, which I am having the Quiz Team read as an application point to the study of Acts. We are focusing on two major themes of Acts... the infilling of the Holy Spirit and the persecution of the believers.
Then I started grading the work the children have been doing this week on "auto". I got through Math with Kaitlyn, Jordan and Ian and Reading with Ian before lunch time rolled around.
I had planned on fininshing after lunch, but I HAVE to run to town instead....
I bought a new dress for myself at the mall Tuesday evening when I went out with my friends and a few minutes ago my friend called me from the mall and said that the same dress is 40 % off today and tomorrow only and if I bring my receipt in they will give me the difference back!!!! Can't beat that deal! So... one last homeschool interruption! How bad is that? *insert sheepish grin here!* I am not usually fashion surfacy... but I am a money miser!
Okay... off to the mall and if I don't type at ya again sooner... have a happy weekend everyone!
.
