Wow.......it must be Narnia!!!! Your kids look stunning......Did you make all the costumes? If so........ WELL DONE MOM! |
Thanks for the compliment, but I did very little of the costume making!
Kaitlyn (my oldest) is dressed in a pretty blue dress I found on ebay for under $4! I added the brocade ribbon around the waist to give it that Narnian flair! (I found the ribbon in a remnant bin for under $1!)
I made Kaitlyn's pink cape... cheap satiny fabric. I just hemmed the end with a silver zigzag stitch. The top I just folded over and sewed and slipped another piece of the brocade ribbon through the fold to make a drawstring for the cape.
The wreath of flowers I could have made, but I found some pretty ones inexpensively for her and Hannah and figured I could use one less project to do!
Jordan and Ian's costumes I bought at Party City. I got them from the discount rack because they were missing parts. That made it nice!
Noah's lion costume has been in our family for quite a few years. I bought it at Costco and it has been well loved!
Hannah's princess costume was from Party City's clearance rack also. I added extra sheer fabric to the sleeves to make them flowy and tied brocade ribbon around her waist too.
The little silver crown that came with Hannah's costume was tied around Noah's head so he would have something new to wear!
Last year they were 50's kids. I made blue poodle skirts for the girls. And I bought white sweatshirts, cut them down the front, hemmed them and added felt letters and stripes around the sleeves to make them look like letterman's jackets. I also tied scarves around their necks and in their pony tails. They, of course wore saddle shoes.
I made the boys white sweatshirts with blue felt numbers and stripes around the sleeves and they were the football players. They looked cute together.
The year before they did "The Wizard of Oz". Kaitlyn was Glinda (but we did not call her the good witch! That totally goes against my grain!) Jordan was the scarecrow (old straw hat, flannel shirt, a little face paint!), Ian was the tin man (silver-gray sweat suit and some poster board covered with foil and a funnel for a hat... also covered with foil). Noah was the Cowardly Lion (same costume as this year, only it fit better then!) Hannah was Dorothy and wore a blue plaid jumper that I had made for Kaitlyn when she was 4 years old. I even found some glittery red shoes just her size at the consignment shop!
Okay, enough rambling about costumes!
Back to today's schoolwork!
