GROWTH?

This

week's theme: GROWTH

(This photo does not fit the rules of photo hunt b/c it is not from my personal collection.)

My original thought was really UNoriginal.  I thought of posting a photo of a pregnant mother, or a flower, or our house when it was being built, or a baby photo of my oldest child next to a current photo...  but I decided to go the OPPOSITE direction with this.

I saw the above photo on a friend's blog and it both moved me to tears and disturbed my soul at the same time.  It pained me to realize that our nation is experiencing the WRONG KIND of GROWTH....

Growth towards indifference.

Growth towards more self-glorification.

Growth towards lack of respect for others.

Growth towards laziness.

A young man once told my husband that though he had previously tried to get into the military he was glad to have not done so because he was not really willing to die for his country...  that was SOMEONE else's job.

My husband asked him, "What is worth dying for?"

He thought for a moment and said, "I don't know.  MAAAAYBE, my family."

MAYBE?????

This young man was raised in a patriotic family.  His dad was a Navy man.  Two of his brothers  have served in the Armed Forces.  This young man was even born on the Fourth of July and was raised to be proud of that fact.

Why does he not understand the privelege of serving others?

One word sums it up:  GROWTH.

GROWTH....  a downward spiral of GROWTH;  negative growth.

Please, homeschooling parents...  you have the perfect opportunity to STOP this trend and train your little ones.

Train them to:

Grow in honor.

Grow in honesty and integrity.

Grown in patriotism and loyalty to God and fellow man.

And ABOVE all to understand that they were created with a purpose to GLORIFY GOD first and foremost and secondly to serve others so as to reflect the glory of God to them and thereby building the Kingdom of God!!!

Nov. 13, 2006 - Wow...

I was not born in this amazing country... I always felt I was wrong in the wrong country..."Mexico" but when I visited this amazing country I realized where my heart belonged...

I am raising my children to honor God, Love country, and live a life which really shows it... Absolutely NO giving into this world... For our final destination is Heaven... :)

I told my son, if you ever get drafted I want you to fight for this country like a real man...It's okay to give your life for a country which has given you soo much, and rember that nothing will happen in your life unless God allows it... And no matter what happens give HIM the glory for Only God is worthy... :)

Every time I hear the star spagle song I not only put my hand over my heart, but tears come down from my face for the love of this country...And though I am not a citizen due to red tape, I would die for this country if need be...

Americans don't value their God or their country its soo sad to me :*( However, I do know there are those who really do honor God and Country, they are my brothers and sisters in Christ, which will be with me someday giving God the honor and glory due to HIM and HIM alone... :)

Have a wonderful day! --- Sisters in Christ Suzie =)

That is a very sad picture. Pathetic. I've noticed the same downward growth. And after the election last week ... can't helpbut wonder what this country is coming to.

Bravo Cristina! Awesome post. We see it all too often these days! Our town has a 4th of July parade and I'm proud to say that we all stand to salute the flag.

Christina,
Excellent post! You would NOT BELIEVE one of the comments I got PRIVATELY about the post on my blog! It was from someone I knew a while back...and at the time was a very strong Christian. THey have somehow gotten involved with a very militant anti-gay/neo-nazi type cult!

When I posted my post on patriotism, they wrote back with comments about how God's judment of this country is our military coming home in body bags! This is the same group that has been protesting militarty funerals...and how these people call themselves Christian, with so much HATE in their heart is beyond me.

I feel another blog coming on!

You only have ONE shot at raising your kids!! INVEST THE TIME WELL!

Love, Dawn

My name is Christina. I am 38 years old and have been happily married to my best friend, Russ for over 18 years! My username is quietcajun, but I am neither quiet, nor cajun! The nickname is based on my children's initials! The first four children are: Kaitlyn (16), Jordan (14 next month), Ian (12.5), and Noah (10 next month)... put their first intials together and you get KJIN (cajun). Sarah Hope is one of our babies in Heaven and Hannah (8 in September) is my youngest (so far). Put S and H together and you get SH as in SHHHH... QUIET. Get it? Thus, quietcajun! We are in our 12th year of homeschooling. We have tried public school, but we soon realized how important it is that they be HOME at all costs. Now we are back to having them all home again! It's not always easy, but it is for the BEST! Two of our children have Asperger's Syndrome. That is an adventure in itself. We are still learning! This blog is a place for me to sort out the daily joys and challenges of life as a mother and wife as I strive to love and know God more and bring GLORY to HIM in EVERY part of my LIFE!!!!
