I posted about my New Year's REsolution last December.
When I re-read it the other day, praise to God just welled up inside of my heart as I realized how much I have improved in the area I had resolved to work on. It became my theme for the last year and the Lord used it to shape me in so many ways!
So, today, my Quiz Team had its first practice of the New Year and I decided to have them repeat the activity. This year we searched several passages of Scripture including Ephesians 5 & 6 and I Thessalonians 5 for possible ideas for our resolution... with the focus on God's Word being the OWNER'S Manual for our lives and containing the solutions/ REsolutions for our life!
This year I chose a passage rather than a single verse for my theme for this year:
Ephesians 5:15-20
15Be very careful, then, how you live—not as unwise but as wise, 16making the most of every opportunity, because the days are evil. 17Therefore do not be foolish, but understand what the Lord's will is. 18Do not get drunk on wine, which leads to debauchery. Instead, be filled with the Spirit. 19Speak to one another with psalms, hymns and spiritual songs. Sing and make music in your heart to the Lord, 20always giving thanks to God the Father for everything, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Before your mind starts to worry... the being drunk with wine part is not the theme for me as it has never been an issue, but the rest of the passage really is a clear picture of what I need to work on!
Taking care in how I live... living wisely and not unwisely.
Making good use of time... especially to minister to others.
Instead of foolishness... gaining understanding of the Lord's will for my life.
Not indulging in excesses... but being filled by and controlled by the Holy Spirit.
Being encouraged by the Word of God and encouraging others.
Being thankful in ALL situations.
The last two are the big ones for me... instead of becoming mired down and discouraged I will resolve to sing within my heart the truths of God's Word and to be so full of these melodies of hope and joy that I can encourage others to be thankful and take courage in the Lord!
May I begin by encouraging YOU, my dear friends. Keep your heart and mind steadfastly focused on God and what HE desires for your life! God Bless You as YOU BLESS HIM and make HIM the center of all you do.
