What to Write?
I have had Writer's Block lately. I have been lurking and reading and commenting in blogland, but not posting much as many of you may have noticed. I can see by my hit counter that people are still peeking in to see if I've finally written anything new, but there's not been much lately!
Things are going well... my dh has had some time off so we have been out and about quite a bit... we even went to the zoo yesterday.
I have a lot of photos to upload. That will give me more things to blog about.
We tried to do our book work the first few days Russ was home, but were mostly unsuccessful so we just did Bible Quiz and lots of hands on stuff these past few days.
Plus, our Bible Quiz Team had its third meet last Saturday. We WON! The team I coach is 6th-8th graders and they won 8 out of 9 rounds and even beat the formerly UNDEFEATED team by 95 points!!! They actually scored more points than the older Teen Teams (up to 12th graders). Maria scored 895 points. Angelina scored 625 points. Kaitlyn scored 95 points. And even my Special Needs son sat quietly, behaved magnificiently and scored 35 points.
I am proud of these POINTS they have earned, but I am sooo much more pleased that they are focused on THE POINT and not THE POINTS! This has been something I have drummed into them over and over and I can see it taking shape and it blesses me so much. We had MANY comments throughout the Quiz Day about how "NICE" our team is and how "sportsmanlike"/"Christlike" we were behaving. We were told that it is fun to watch the TEAM Spirit amongst us! That means more to me than the wins. (Although the WINS are fun too!)
I love the deep love of the Word of God that my team displays and that it is truely about hiding God's Word in their hearts more than any other "reward".
We have two more chapters of Acts to learn before our next meet on March 10th. Then, we have League Finals and District Finals in April. I am thinking that we need to study a bit longer for the next 6 weeks. Right now we are practicing 90 minutes a week TOGETHER and a MINIMUM of 30 minutes a day separately. (although Jordan studies Bible Quiz 2 hours a day and Kaitlyn about 1 hour a day.) I am thinking of adding scheduled study session for my two once a week. I know the mom of the other two quizzers already does this. Plus adding a half hour to our weeking study practice to make it a 2 hour practice time. The tricky part is keeping the sibling quiet. (NOT their siblings. They are little angels, but mine have been quite disruptive and it is hard for me to properly discipline them while I am leading a practice. I need to work on how to do this. Any suggestions welcome!)
Anyway, I hope to get back into the swing of things on Monday. Have a GREAT weekend everyone!

Hi Christina,
I loved the introduction you wrote on my blog! I had to come say hi and read your blog. :)
I can sympathize about writer's block. Sometimes I can not think of a thing to write ... or ... it seems my life is sooo boring that it would be painful to make anyone read about it! I can write wonderful posts in my head while showering and when I am just about to fall asleep but they gone by the time I sit at my computer. lol
It is nice to meet you.
Have a wonderful blessed day,
Rachelle

I love that your teaching the kids The Point, not about the points. What a good teacher. And you represented us.......as homeschoolers in a great way. That is so needed lately. Thanks. Isn't it cool that even if you 'lost', all the kids involved are winning because of the words hidden in the hearts. coolness!

Just commenting on your comment from my blog... I like that you said if you wouldn't let your kids watch it, then you'd examine it further. I often see things where I say if I had kids I wouldn't let them see it, so you made an excellent point, why am I watching it? Afterall, I may not be a child, but I am God's child. I also like that you said you can be prudish... that's a good thing! Also, thanks for saying I look “Scandinavian;” that’s a positive way to see it!

I've been without a routine for so long that I've forgotten what the swing is. LOL. Congrats on the Bible quiz!
