Today I had to go to the dentist to have the last of my root canal procedures (which started in NOVEMBER!) Today was to be the EASY part... the permanent crown simply being cemented in place and maybe adjusted a bit.
But NOOOOO.... actually, this was the most painful part! (except for the pain to my checking account, of course!)
For some reason the back of the tooth was too tight and they could not get dental floss through it and were sawing away with a little tool that looked like the serrated strip on a box of aluminum foil or plastic wrap. That didn't really work either. They bent/broke TWO of those tools and several hundred feet of dental floss! They flossed right into the side of my mouth where I already had a small sore... OUCH!
The worst part though was the wedge the jammed into my gums! HOLY MOLY! Tears were streaming down my cheek and I kept reminding myself to breath.
Afterwards the dentist said that if she had not known that I have given birth 5 times she would have given me anesthetic before trying the wedge, but she knew I could handle it!
I did handle it. I have a pretty high pain tolerance, but oh my goodness.
When I stood up I got light-headed and had to sit back down for a moment. That was a bit embarrassing.
Oh, but I forgot to mention that in the middle of this torture session my cell phone started to jingling and it turned out to be my daughter wanting to know where the black dress-up leotard was? So NOT the emergency!
I apologize for not blogging much. I have been working on our water feature and planning my very first ever garden! (I will post pictures later.)
And in the evenings I have been crocheting and crocheting and crocheting! I am actually working on TWO baby boy afghans right now... plus at my "old" church there was a new baby girl and a new baby boy born last week and another going to be born this week. So I will be making their afghans next!
And as I crochet away... hopefully my mind will be numbed enough to FORGET the ordeal of my mouth NOT being numbed!
I usually don't mind going to the dentist, but I am glad I will not have to go through THAT again. That was just plain TORTURE!!!!
