Last night my sweet husband was making the "Tucky" Rounds (where he tucks in the children and prays with them and/or tells them a story). He doesn't do this EVERY night and when he doesn't we hear the most pitiful pleas for "Tucky! Tucky!" from every corner of the house... okay, just the corners where children's bedrooms are located!
For the most part, I don't encourage baby talk, but somehow we have developed a vocabulary all our own and "Tucky! Tucky!" has stuck with us even though all of the children are really too old for such silly pronunciations, but I digress...
This story is really not about our unique lexicon of family words and pronunciations, its about a "Hannah-ism" that occured in the process of "Tucky! Tucky!" as my husband later recounted it to me!
Russ went into the girls' bedroom and looked up into the top bunk and asked our oldest (Kaitlyn: almost age 15) "Kaitlyn, are we spending enough time together lately?"
Then, from the bottom bunk he heard Hannah(age 6 1/2) say:
"Uh-Oh! This sounds like the start of a serious discussion!"
We both just had to laugh at that little insight! (The kind a younger child would not pick up on, but an older child would probably have the discretion to not verbalize out loud!) That's such a typical Hannah thing... somewhat wise beyond her years and yet young enough to get away with saying things like this!
