I am a little behind in my book reviews!
When we finished up our Alaskan Unit we read a book called Artic Peoples by Andrew Haslam and Alexandra Parsons. It is a book in the Make It Work! Series. It is a great hands-0n book if you have time to make all the projects in it!
For our purposes, we just read through the interesting facts and enjoyed the pictures. We did not have the time to do the in-depth projects, although, it would have been fun to pick one or two. Maybe we will come back to it in the future!
This book is about 3rd-6th grade level and includes lots of photos, and research facts. I wasn’t fond of the “religious” aspects of this book, but I guess that is par for the course in many studies of other cultures.
Also available in this series:
Native Americans
Ancient Egypt
Japan
Stone Age People
The Roman Empire
Jun. 20, 2007 - I'll look for that
We are learning about Alaska right now. We are reading Gentle Ben and play to watch the DVD's when we are done to compare the 2!
