Water! Water EVERYWHERE! And Not a Drop to Drink!
Did you wonder what I did after we recovered the missing “Goldilocks”? Probably so, but only because I alluded to further adventures in my last post!
Later that warm afternoon I could be wading through ankle-deep crisp, clear, cool water. As the waves lapped against my tired bare feet and the sun was shining on my face I could feel a misty spray on my face and I could hear the roar of the…. Wet/Dry Vac.
Yep… the Wet/Dry Vac.
It’s a good thing my laundry room has an exterior door. It helped in removing the 100 gallons of water!
NO, I am NOT exaggerating. I wish that were the case!
SOMEONE… who will remain anonymous to protect him from humiliation… put his swim shirt and swim trunk in the laundry room deep sink after playing in the sprinkler.
SOMEONE decided that he should soak said swim items b/c AS PREDICTED by mom, white swim trunks were not such a good idea. (Well, they are white with Navy Blue Hawaiian print, but still I advised against it.)
SOMEONE has previously insisted that the swim trunks would only ever encounter WATER!
SOMEONE forgot this assertation when SOMEONE sat on the wet lawn that afternoon!
SOMEONE turned on the water to fill the deep sink… in order to soak his garments.
SOMEONE then, proceeded upstairs for snack and forgot to turn the water off.
It took 3 hours… Kaitlyn’s continually sweeping water out the back door, 50 gallons pumped into the wet/dry vac and the carpet shampooer to suck the water from ¼ of the exercise room, down the hallway and into the girls’ bedroom! WE STILL HAVE FANS running to dry everything out!
Thankfully, a large amount of water was absorbed by the laundry that was piled into two mesh laundry baskets at that time (which I am still in the process of washing and drying almost 48 hours later.)
And the children has sandwhiches for dinner while hubby and I finished cleaning up. (This it what the poor dear came home to!)
And he had leftovers from Tuesday night’s dinner later that evening. I was so sick to my stomach that I couldn’t eat until much later and settled for a bowl of Cheerios.
Maybe next time I’ll actually get to soak up some sun at the nearest beach instead of in my laundry room!

My "adventurous" time is NOTHING compared to your adventures... from just *one* day! ;)
I'm glad that Goldilocks was safe and that SOMEONE will soon recover from the embarrassment of forgetting to turn off the water. :)

My children have often asked me what would happen if I left the bathtub water running and did not turn it off. (You actually found out!)
My children picture the house filling up like a swimming pool as we rise to the top for air! Doesn't sound like that is the case, huh?
God Bless You and Yours,

When I was still living in Tacoma, my washing machine broke. Apparently, there is a float that is supposed to go up when the machine is full and stop the flow of water... broken. I started a load on my way home from church and came back to slopping in water. The water had to be sucked out by a professional guy. Those super big fans were placed to help with the drying.
Then... I paid some guy $75 to fix the washer. Three loads ~ thats all I got out of it. Three loads and my house flooded again. :o(
