A Special Announcement!!!
You read that right! I have a special announcement!
Yes, it has to do with babies!
Sweet little new babies... bundled up in cuddly blankets...
MMM... can't you just just smell that sweet smell of baby powder and feel the silky cheek pressed up against yours?
Nope. I'm not pregnant.
Did you get excited for just a second there? I wish! (Keep praying!)
This announcement has to do with my afghans!
I have often said that I would never make up afghans in advance and sell them and I still will not do that. The MAIN reason I make the afghans is to take time to pray for the recipient of the gift and the family. I want it to be a lasting and tangible reminder that God loves them!
The idea has been brewing for a long time, but finally I have had the courage (with my husband's enthusiastic insistence) to see what will happen.
I will eventually open a storefront on hyenacart or ebay or something, but until I know what i am doing (business-wise) it will just be word of mouth.
The afghans will always be CUSTOM afghans, never made up in advance. I will even offer afghans at half-price to anyone who refers TWO paying clients. Or buy two, get the 3rd one for 1/2 price!
I will be offering FOUR sizes:
Baby Doll Size $10-$15
Baby Size $40-$55
Child Size $55-$70
Adult Size $70-$90
The price range is dependent on a few things:
Availability and price of supplies/colors needed to complete custom afghan
AND
Design selected. (For instance, joining individual granny squares takes more time than just making one large granny square.
Shipping is around $7-$8 right now
for just one baby sized afghan so I have been spending a LOT of money on these gifts, which my husband has never minded. As a matter of fact, he often comments on how happy he is that he can contribute to this "ministry" by buying yarn for me.
There will still be a few people getting free afghans, but I am having to cut back on that b/c our goal is to be TOTALLY debt free (including our mortgage) in 10 years or less! Selling the afghans will give me a way to continue making them. Otherwise, I would have to stop. That would break my heart.
I need help with a business name though. I am thinking of things that denote the prayer aspect like:
Wrapped in Prayer
Bundled in Prayer
Swaddled in Prayer
Bundles of Blessings
I don't know, but something like that.
Any suggestions?

I KNOW those who buy your afgans will be SO blessed! Kieran's is such a treasure. Yours is a ministry indeed.
Thank you for the love and prayers you put into them.
No brilliant name brainstorms at the moment... my brain is "flushed" from potty training. *laugh*

All of your suggestions sound great -- both the ones for your "Bathed in Prayer" blankies/afghans and the ones you left me regarding my blog title. I'll have to think some more on what you suggested. Thanks!
I read the note you left at TOSPUBLISHER about your four year old -- ugh!!!! I'll have to let my friends (who're thinking of putting their children in preschool) know about that.

Wow, it's been almost a week since I have been on the computer! I've missed alot! I can't wait until I get the afghan- I am so excited! And I think it's a great idea to do it as a business. You do beautiful work, and people love them! Way to be a Proverbs 31 woman! I often wish I had some way of bringing other resources in. I'll let you know when I get it!

Bundled in Prayer. What wonderful armor, to be all bundled up in the prayer of others.
The afgans look beautiful. And what a great idea to do doll-sized. Maybe I'll get some for my girls' baby dolls as a present when the new baby comes!
