A few months back my boys went clamming with my sweet husband and an older gentleman from our church. Thankfully this older gentleman is mostly deaf and has the ability to literally turn down the sound when camping with THREE rambunctious boys! LOL!
I just this week uploaded photos from Jordan's camera and thought they were worth sharing!
The above photo is a yellow shovel the boys found and made GREAT use of! I couldn't believe the FORT they created with just this little shovel! I must say, if these boys would apply themselves this well in all of life.... well, they'd be UNSTOPPABLE!!!
My hubby told me that all three boys could fit into this pit and not be seen!
This is the same FORT/pit after they added a roof and some supports to give them shade from the wind and sun! These boys would probably do fine in the wild!
Jordan is a good photographer. I was impressed! This photo is quite breath-taking actually!
Guess what these photos are of? I didn't really get it. I had to ask.
I thought the first one was a sand dollar on the beach, but it did look a little bubbly and weird. I was close, but never would have guessed. The second one was totally confusing to me.
Apparently, this is what a sand dollar looks like when you melt it in the campfire! The boys placed the melty-hot sand dollar on one of those plastic composite picnic tables. It's not a sandy beach after all. The second photo is the residue that melted onto the table when they lifted the cooled sand dollar up!
I know. I know. I am easily amused!
Cute story though...
Noah, my little entrepeneur, decided that clamming was too much work for too little reward. So he began collecting sand dollars... HUNDREDS of them. He reasoned that he could easily sell them for $1 each (since they were $2-$5 in the stores around the beach) and BUY as many clams as he wanted with the income! He was disappointed not to be able enact his grand money making plan!
If only it were that easy? LOL!
In unrelated news,
My hubby and I decided to go NO TV. It will be disconnected next week! Most of the children handled the news really well. One of them cried and begged to be allowed to pay for it himself. I explained that its not just the money (although that IS part of it), but the spiritual price we feel that our family is paying. Yet, he keeps asking WHY? I only answer WHY when they really don't know why. Now my "mantra" is...
"Are you asking to gain information or to complain?"
When he doesn't answer I say no more either!
By the way, this particular child is the one I am currently most concerned about overall. It changes. It has been different children at different times, but this year it has pretty consistently been this one child (who up until now had always been the sweetest thing, but lately... AAAAGGGGGH!) This child may also be known by another name on this blog: "SOMEONE"!
Pray for me! :)
