I am always a few weeks behind on posting photos... the snow storm in the last photo entry was actually AFTER Thanksgiving! Oh well.
We have never had family visit our house on Thanksgiving before, but this year Russ' dad and stepmom surprised us! How WONDERFUL!
Russ and the big boys decided to put up lights to great Jim and Jan!
They brought their dog, Baby, who is our dog's brother:
Ian and the other children really enjoyed him,
but Quimby was not so sure!
With no school work to do Hannah finally had time to learn how to use the Knifty Knitter! Note her ensemble here... she is wearing a flannel nightgown with red cotton tights under it! Silly girl!
Russ and I got up early and started the preparations for Thanksgiving Dinner!
One of our traditional appetizers... leek onion soup mix with sour cream served as a dip in a sourdough bread bowl. We also had Lil' Smokies (not healthy, but a must in my hubby's opinion!) and a tray with cheese, crackers and veggies!
Ian made pumpkin pies. Here they are cooling.
Russ made apple pies. I didn't get a picture of those, but they were delicious. He uses basalmic vinegar instead of lemon juice and it is so tasty!
Just plain canned cranberry sauce arranged with orange wedges can look fancier than it really is!
Jim, Jan and Kaitlyn on one side of the table. Jordan, Ian, and Noah on the other side.
Later Hannah, Russ and I joined them all!
Hannie and Jordan!
Ian, unable to decide between sparkling cranberry juice and egg nog!
Noah had no trouble chosing!
Isn't this a great photo... by Kaitlyn, of course!
Everyone shared what they were thankful for. Russ didn't want me to post the photos of people crying, but I think these still capture the tenderness of the moment without embarrassing anyone!
Grandson and Grandpa relax after a yummy dinner!
Jordan's middle name was given to him in honor of his Papa Jim...
Jordan James!
We really were thankful to share our day with Jim and Jan (and Baby). It was a very nice visit.
We were all thankful for the love that God has given us and to be together as a family. God has really blessed us more than we can possibly deserve and it is a treasure to spend time reflecting on that with one another!
