Ephesians 5:1 & 2
"Be imitators of God, therefore, as dearly loved children and live a life of love, just as Christ loved us and gave Himself up for us as a fragrant sacrifice to God. "
Imitations someone like a child always reminds me of playing "Follow-the-Leader"! May I follow Jesus, my Leader in the way I love others!
Also, how much does a "dearly loved" child generally rmind you of their parents in their speech patterns and mannerisms... sort of like how my Hannie is my mini me... not just in physical appearance, but in so many other areas! May I be more like Jesus and less like, well, less like ME!
Live a life of love just as Christ loved us. Christ surrendered His will and was crushed into a sweet aroma. A couple of weeks ago I was reading about frankincense and myrrh on wikipedia.com and was surprised to learn that myrrh has a fragrant aroma and the most fragrant variety was from the myrrh trees that grow out of solid rock! What an image there! May I be most fragrant when I grow from Christ the Solid Rock!
I also thought of the need to be crushed to release an aroma... for example, hyssop releases its aroma when crushed and an olive must be crushed to give its oil for food or for light. May I be mindful of crushing my will, surrendering my expectations and putting my full weight into the hands of God. Let me be willing and ready to walk in the sacrificial love Christ modeled (and still does model) for us!
