Kaitlyn really wanted to do this challenge so Hannah and I joined her. We started last Sunday since we always wear dresses on Sunday anyway!
Hannie wore the dress she is wearing in the picture at the top of my blog. I bought it big so it has fit her for over a year and still has room to grow. The bodice is velvety and the skirt is a beautiful silky fabric that is almost irridescent! She wore a purple headband and curled her own hair. (She is big into putting foam rollers in at night all by herself!)
Kaitlyn wore a red silky blouse with black pin stripes, a black lacy skirt, black ballet slipper style shows and her hair down. I wore a read tank top with a red wrap around sweater and a denim skirt. No, I am not pregnant... (I wish!) I am just chubby!
We did not change after church, but wore our dresses all day. (Which we often do). I even caught a quick nap with hubby and Hannie! Hannie was asked to change into a play-proof skirt though. This is what she chose: a cream tunic with sequins on the top, a tiered jean skirt, purple leggins under it and bright yellow socks with FROGS! We have adopted calling her The Blender Beauty (a terminology I "stole" from AcceptanceWithJoy)
Here's another perfect example of her Blender-Beauty-ness!
Monday:
Is it Punky Brewster or Pippi Longstocking? We call her both! She thinks it is funny and yes, we have explained to her who they both are!
Here's a close-up of her hair-do... She really likes to do it herself!
Her dress is a reversible sundress made with "My Little Pony" fabric. It is two sizes too small for her and too cold so she matched it with a pink long sleeves shirt with a color (that has BROWN roses!), purple leggings, ankle socks and high top pink tennis shoes!
Kaitlyn wore a brown tank with sequins along the top under a pink shirt with a brown skirt and brown shoes. She loves pink and brown together and it looks nice on her! She wore her hair down again.
I wore my favorite purple paisley shirt with my denim skirt and my criss-cross Mary Janes (that are so comfortable!!!) I wore part of my hair in a black clip.
Tuesday:
Kaitlyn chose pink and brown again... same shoes, same hair style, but this time a pink tank under a brown with pink top (with an assymetrical hemline) and a long pink tiered skirt.
I chose a burgandy long sleeve shirt, a pink and burgandy striped zip-up cardigan with a khaki pleated skirt and brown loafers. I wore half of my hair twisted in a brown clip.
Hannie chose her cream tunic with sequins, with a cream sweater with blue flowers printed on it. She paired it with a sparkly "twirly skirt", white cotton tights and her pink high tops. She wore her hair down!
Wednesday:
I wore my hair down on this day. I chose a periwinkle button down top with a black corduroy jacket with flared 3/4 sleeves, a jean skirt that has a periwinkle eyelet lace trim and my black Mary Janes.
Kaitlyn wore Tuesdays pink shirts with a tiered pink and blue floral print skirt that has pink tulling around the bottom. She wore her black ballet style flats and her hair down again!
Hannie wore a headband in her hair AND had half up in a pony. She chose a sparkly purple t-shirt with a long sleeved pink shirt over it. The skirt is a cotton skort skirt (built in pink shorts under it) and it has pink, blue and purple horizontal stripes. This was worn with the white cotton tights and the pink hightops again!
Thursday:
Hannie chose pink and brown this time! She wore a pink headband and the brown jumper that is supposed to go with the pink blouse (with the brown flowers on the Peter Pan collar that she wore with the pony dress on Monday). It is a brown woolen fabric with pink velvety ribbons trimming the bottom. she wore white tights and yes, those are pink ballet slippers on her feet. She loves ballet slippers. She doesn't take dance anymore, but we still have lots of ballet slippers in the shoe bins and she practically lives in them indoors. (When she is not wearing her pink high tops! LOL!)
Kaitlyn chose a pretty baby doll style black and turquoise and lime blouse, her black lacy skirt and black ballet flats and chose to do something different to her hair! She pulled back tiny sections of the top of her hair and secured them with turquoise and lime hair elastics!
I pulled part of MY hair back into a pony tail secured with a black hair elastic. I wore a black sweater that has purple and turquoise paisleys. (Did I ever mention that I love purple and I love paisley?) This was worn with a black skirt and the same black Mary Janes.
Friday:
Hannie pulled back her "getting too long bangs" into a ponytail today. She layered a long-sleeved pink striped tee with a short sleeved cream button down blouse. This was worn with a denim patch work skirt that Kaitlyn made for her out of worn out jeans last year. She wore white tights and the ballet slippers.
Kait's hair was down again. It looks so beautiful down. I tell her it is shampoo commercial hair!
She wore a black tank under a well, its kind of red, but it is kind of dark hot pink cap-sleeved tee with the black lacy skirt and the black ballet flats.
I wore the red tank with a red and tan plaid cowgirl shirt, the khaki skirt and the brown loafers. I put a little brown claw clip in a piece of the front of one side of my hair and just clipped it so it wouldn't fall in my face. One of my favorite hair styles.
Saturday:
Hannie getting ready to go to Costco! I insisted on putting hair ties in for her and she finished brushing it. She chose a black shirt with hot pink flowers on the front and a built in white undershirt. She wore the tiered jean skirt and black tights. I talked her out of wearing pink dress shoes and she wore black Mary Janes like mine and her pink poncho.
Kait wore her pink Apricot Apparel shirt with a pale pinkish-lavendarish button down blouse with slightly flared sleeves. Her skirt is pink, lavendar, brown and turquoise. Sounds like a strange combination, but it is really lovely. she wore her wrap-around shawl part of the time, but the day was sunny and warm. She wore her brown shoes with this and her hair down!
I wore a light blue tank and struggled with what to wear with it. I wanted to be warm, but not too warm! First I tried a crocheted light blue sweater. Then I tried my jean jacket. I didn't get a picture but I ended up wearing the black cord. jacket from the other day... the one with the flared 3/4 sleeves. It looked best!
My long skirt has blue flowers and bit of green on a black background so I got to wear my comfy Mary Janes again... which is good b/c Costco took HOURS!
Sunday:
Here's Hannie's (after church) outfit... Another Blender Beauty original. She is wearing a purple grape dress with black velvety collar and cuffs with jeans underneath! LOL! I wore a top and skirt that are black with pinky-lavendar flowers, a kind of nubby, tweedy pinkish lavendar jacket, and black strapy heels. (Hair down). This is a very comfy dress and I love to wear it all day.
Here is Hannie's new dress from Costco. My children get new church clothes twice a year... this is hers! It is a beautiful shade of blue and has a sheer overskirt. She wore it with white ankle socks and PINK dress shoes. (OH well!) Kaitlyn lightly french braided the front section of H's hair and tied the two braids in a knot... literally. Then, she spiral curled a few ringlets into it. She looked precious and was happy to "match" sissy:
This is Kaitlyn's 16th birthday gift. Her bday is not until June, but the dress is quite warm and so we gave it to her this weekend! It was made by Brielle. Didn't she do an amazing job? (Click on her name to see more pics and a description of this dress!)
This dress is inspired by Susan's Coronation gown from The Chronicles of Narnia. It has detachable sleeves... on the right you can see it with the long sleeves... they flow all the way to the bottom of the dress!!! Kaitlyn was in Heaven! She wore her hair lightly French Braided and I put a few curls into it for her. She looked so sweet!
Well, that wraps up our challenge week, but we have been having fun continuing to wear skirts this week too! Give it a try! My hubby really enjoyed it! He just kept saying how beautiful we looked! :)
