What would I ever do without them?

Aside from a cleaner house, less stress, more sleep and more money left at the end of a pay period... what could I possibly gain from NOT being a MOMY?
My life has been made so much richer, albeit crazier by the day for these past 13 1/2 years! I never wonder what to do... I just wonder where to start! I never feel all alone... I just feel surrounded (and I do mean SURROUNDED) by love! I never have an uninterrupted...
what was I saying?
Hmmm... I don't remember!
If I had a clean house that would mean there was no one here to fill it with laughter!
If my washer and dryer were ever silent that would mean there was no one running through the mud puddle in the far corner of the front yard!
If there were a fridge full of leftovers that would mean that there were no happy, tired little ones clamoring around my feet begging to help when I cook!
What a sad, sorry existence THAT would be!

A few years ago, I ran into the captain of my old cheerleading squad. I was trying out one of those one-week free passes to a local gym. She walked up to me and said, "Christi? What are YOU doing here?" Turns out, she's there 3 hours a day, every day. She's married. Her hubby's a wrestling coach, or something. She's in advertising. And she does triathlons. I told her I was married, too, and that I had 3 kids (4 now), I homeschool, and I stay at home. I asked her if she had kids, and she said, very disgustedly, "No! Why would I want to ruin things?!" Then she offered to help get me into shape by riding bikes together. *sigh*
Ya know, a hundred years from now, nobody will remember her. She will have no legacy to pass down. She will die an old, lonely, albeit healthy, woman in an old-folks' home. She will not have grown God's kingdom through the blessing of her womb. If, by God's grace, she does come to her senses that children are called "a blessing" and an "inheritance from the Lord," it may be too late. There is a reason why children are given to the young! Her maternal clock may stop ticking.
I just feel so much pity for people who don't see God's view of children.
Doug Phillips said this once, paraphrased: "Debt is called a curse and children are called a blessing. Today, people are applying for the curse and rejecting the blessing!"
May all of God's children have "Rebekah's blessing"... that they become the mother of thousands of ten thousands (Gen. 24:60). God's vision is so much greater than ours! Hooray for children!

I love that quote... people apply for the curse and reject the blessing. How true! Thanks for your perspective! I couldn't agree more!
