Romans 14:23 says,
..."and EVERYTHING
that does not come
from FAITH
is SIN."
What exactly do you think this means? Wow!!! Chew on that for awhile. I would love to know your thoughts on this!
Jan. 9, 2006 - ok now
lets look at what is around this verse. Paul is saying that if someone does not feel free in his conscience about whatever it is he is eating and drinking then eating or drinking that particular thing condemns him--is sin.
James 4:17 Therefore to him that knoweth to do good and doeth it not, to him it is sin.
In short, if you doubt that something you want to do or want not to do is correct, then you should or shouldn't do it. That is what it means.
Jan. 10, 2006 - I was just about to reply with almost the same answer!!
So, what she said. LOL
I will add what my commentary says about this:
"vs. 22 AND 23: 'A conscience informed by faith is the best guide in matters that do NOT condemn other people. If one violates his conscience informed by faith, he sins.'"
HTH,
