We will bring Jordan home soon! We have the money for HSLDA now. I am nervous, but happy about it!
Pray for us regarding Sunday School at church... we have a situation where we feel like the curriculum for Kaitlyn's class (Jr. High age) deals with some subjects that are best taught at home (date rape, premarital sex, teen pregnancy, drugs, AIDS and pornography). We have taken her out of the class entirely. We have also taken all of the children except the youngest out of children's church... for a different reason, but I am starting to pray about whether the Lord would have us change churches. (Especially after reading Gods and Kings by Lynn Austin).
As much as I would hate to move... maybe it IS God's will for us to move on. God has really changed our hearts on some issues and we are moving into a new season in our lives!

eek Gads! Why is it that youth ministries think the Gospel isn't enough?
I agree- those things should be taught at home. And well, if the church complains that other parent aren't teaching their kids this stuff from a "Biblical" perspective, ask them if they've suddenly become Democrats! LOL. Dems are the ones who think parents can't be trusted with the upbringing of their own children - sheesh!! That will make them sit up and think for a minute.

Wow! Things are REALLY happening in your home! We began entering that stage, too, about three and a half years ago, right at the end of my pregnancy with my littlest guy. Hubby and I had spent YEARS teaching children's Sunday School and I was the Children's Church Ministry Leader and teacher for years, too. Then, like a wind sweep, our hearts changed on the matter. It's funny how little "family" is involved in a "family-affirming" church, where every person in your home is whisked off to some other class or group, and nobody sees each other until it's time to go home! It's sad, really, how the segregation of the family mirrors the world on that matter! And just how the vision of a father leading a family in worship is completely lost on the majority of churches! We visited one church shortly after we began putting this vision into practice where no less than three times we were stopped and almost insisted upon putting our kids in child care. One place even had an image on their before-service screen saying something like, "Be sure to take care of all those little distractions before service" with a picture of a little baby up there behind the words! It's amazing how open our eyes become when we begin to adjust to the light.
Many blessings!

Oh, yeah... for a list of churches in your area with like-minded "keep your kids with you in service" sort of stuff, check out Doug Phillips' web site at www.visionforum.org and click the middle tab near the top that reads something like National Center for Family-Integrated Churches (NCFIC). Or, you can Google NCFIC.
