A Brief History of Time
1969... I was born and became the center of my parents and grandparents world... as the firstborn princess of their worlds!
1972... My sister usurped my throne and quickly won my heart and became my very first and forever bestest friend!
1974... I asked Jesus into my heart! (Yes, I was only 4, but I actually remember it and how urgently I felt my NEED for Jesus!)
1976... My church finally gave into my begging to be baptized in water!
1980... I remember this as the year that life began to become mean and harsh... being teased and tormented by other children, etc. This was also around the time that I first realized that not EVERYONE loved Jesus!
1982... The worst year ever...(up until that time, anyway). I remember being physically tormented in the 7th grade. I loved learning, but hated school.
1983... A new start. Our family moved to Idaho and being in a better school helped me so much.
1984... It was May of 1984 when I met my future husband for the first time, but it was not for many years after that I would realize how important this "kid" would become in my life. My first memory of him: the junior high band would always place Pomp and Circumstance with the high school band at graduation each year. We (the 8th graders... wow... that is how old my oldest is now!) walked into the band room and Russ (my husband) snorted, "Oh NO! The invasion of the LITTLE PEOPLE!" As if 9th graders were SOOO much older than 8th graders!
1985... A pivotal time in my spiritual walk. I moved beyond my faith in God to a deeper and more personal relationship with Jesus Christ. I began to study God's Word and listen intently to not just the music on the radio, but the teaching programs.
1987... High School Graduation and onto Northwest College!
1988... My reality check after getting involved with a not so good boy. God protected me from many things that I COULD have done... but my heart was broken to see how much hurt one person is capable of experiencing.
December 1989... While home for Christmas Break I met up with an old acquaintance... that guy from high school... I had witnessed to him throughout high school and we were casual friends, but he had since become saved and wanted to thank me. We got together for dinner... Dec. 21, 1989... now known in my personal history as "our first date" even though neither of us started that evening with the word "date" in our minds.
March 17, 1990... We ELOPED! Yep... ELOPED!
August 1990... Formal Wedding
June 1992... Our first child was born! (The princess of HER own little world!)
August 1994... Princess Kaitlyn Elizabeth was usurped by her first brother Jordan James (James does mean supplanter!)
December 1995... in just 3 1/2 years we went from a family of two to a family of Five with the birth of Ian Josiah and moved into our very first HOUSE when Ian was 13 days old!
1996... the craziest, busiest year of my life!
1997... we were naiive enough to get a puppy! Kaitlyn began HOMESCHOOL Kingergarten.
1998... Noah Zachary arrived into our hearts and our lives!
1999... Russ became commisioned as a Navy officer and we moved to Washington. Jordan taught himself to read and thus began his homeschool education!
2000... Hannah Gabrielle arrived into our family! Ian "demanded" to be part of the homeschool day!
2003... Noah is added to the homeschool day and mommy starts to feel more and more overwhelmed!
2004... I ask the public school to test Jordan. They basically tell me they cannot help us.
2005... I enroll four of the children in public school... and find that it is even more stressful than home educatioon!
2006... It is only February... yesterday I pulled Jordan out of public school... so I am back to homeschooling 2 (and 1/2 since Hannah is only going to school 1/2 a day.)
Can't wait to see where the rest of this year leads!

How cool to see how God has been drawing you to Himself throughout your life. He is faithful...yesterday, today and forever. I pray that you will have peace, strength and joy in your new decision with homeschooling. We're in this together!!!

I, too, found the public school thing more nerve-wracking than homeschooling...we pulled our oldest back out this year after only a few months. It was nice in that it gave me an idea of how she was doing (she made all A's except for a B in math), but it was horrible socially (she was sexually harrassed by another 13-year-old. Sigh.) Also it was horrible for family time....we felt like she was either at school or doing homework! I'm so glad we brought her back!

Christina,
Thanks for commenting.
Whats up with Jordan?
I have a child with lots of learning difficulties and I don't always feel hopeful although we have found somethings that help. It doesn't sound like learning problems though if he taught himself to read.
I hope you enjoy your homeschooling. I sometimes wonder if my kids would be better in a real school but I love teaching them so much and now our life is so crazy there really is no option.

That is cool! I'm running through the personal timeline in my own mind, and I can't narrow it down to so few moments like you have. How do you do it? Ya know, when the assignment said to summarize the paragraph or to find the main idea, I bet that was an easy, boring assignment for you! Me, I actually struggled with that concept, considering every piece of detail crucial. LOL. I really liked reading this. Nice idea.
Many blessings!
Christi
