Lighthouse Bathroom and Front and Back Yards

This photo was taken from the hallway with Noah's room to the right and Ian's room to the left and the hallway to the living room directly behind.
The photo on the wall (on the left) are photos of the first submarine my dh was stationed on in1992. (The USS OMAHA).

This is facing the doorway to the bathroom with the shower behind. The tiles are really just blue.. the lighthouses are removable stickers I found at Walmart. (Same thing with the dragonflies and flowers on the tile in the Master Bathroom and the fish in the girls' bathroom.) The wooden anchor was a gift from my Grandpa. He did not make, but the guy who did carved it out of one piece of wood... including the links on the chain of the anchor!

This drawing was done by Kaitlyn! She is a great artist!

This is the view of my front yard from my porch. Later I will take photos of the house from the street, but this particular day it was raining. That's what it is usually always doing around here, but it is sunny today. If I can find the time I will do it today!

This is a view of my backyard from the deck!
I am making a big pot of chili to take to a potluck tonight! I hope it turns out alright!

I lived several years there and really loved it. But the Lord moved me and I met my husband. We aren't really that far from each other! Give or take a state or two, lol!

Such a hard life that would be huh? I kind of hope not, I was thinking that you aren't to far away, and it would be fun to meet someday.... But of course, whatever God wills.

I told her I emailed her some verses God laid onmy heart to share with her, but I was just really nervous, it was so hard to do. And she said I am hger sister for sharuing withher what God said to share and thanked me me for doing it and she'd read it at home...

Hi, I popped over to your blog after you popped on mine, I wanted to respond to your question about helping your son. My son is a little different, the learning delays are prominent as he is still not reading at almost 7. Your son actually sounds much more like my oldest who, after walking the whole diagnosis/special education thing with our son, we found that she is most likely an undiagnosed Asperger's kid. She is now in college, has forever been an Honor student, and teaches herself anything she can get her hands on. Anyway, for the Sensory Integration stuff, pick up the book "The Out of Sync Child" and "The Out of Sync Child has Fun", both by Carol Stock Kranowitz. The first will explain much of SI, the second is full of activities you can do with your son or that he can do on his own that will seriously help with the SI issues. I used to keep up on some Yahoo groups for Auties or SI kids, but just don't have the time any more, you might do some searches if you want to try something like that, but for me, this old Blog is filling my needs of not quite feeling so alone. :-) My son has done so much better since we removed him from public schools. I would really encourage you to keep him home. The stimulation of the environment at school can be so overwhelming and then the poor behavior picked up from other children doesn't help matters. The ADD/ADHD possibilities I think very often come from some of our children not learning enough while at school. It can be very hard to find things to fill their need to learn more. That is why homeschooling works so well with them, we can fill those needs in other ways when the school system is just trying to fit them into that "certain standard student" position, it just doesn't work for our kids. If you are still working with the PS system, what are they offering for your son right now? Is he on an IEP? Are you working with a occupational therapist at all for the SI? We learned some massage techniques that did wonders for our son that an OT should be able to teach you. Now, we can just do some simple squeezing and rub down stuff, starting at his shoulders and working down to his hands and starting just above his knees and working down to his feet. It seems to calm him down tremendously when necessary. We have also used a medium vegetable brush and brushed down his arms when he was stressing out, but haven't needed to use that one in a while. Drop me another line some time and maybe I can help, it is hard to deal with, but you are not alone. As for being able to work with your other children, I know I hate the idea of my kids playing video games for great lengths of time, but if you can gear him toward an educational one, it might help. We have been using a Leap Frog system quite successfully recently and if you can set him up with something like that, you may be able to block out time to work with other necessary things while he works with something like that. I am adding you to my friends list and will try to look into other ways I can help. I hope that helps a little, I wish I could help more, but at the moment I am battling a killer headache and just need to rest abit. I'll do some brainstorming, I'll try to get back onto your blog and learn a little more about your family(I love your home by the way) and I'll get back to you with more ideas once I can think a little more.
