I ran across a great article...

Posted in Reflections

about the implications of Palin potentially being the VP.  I'm still praying through this but as a reformed ex-feminist I struggle with voting for Mrs. Palin.   This article asks the questions I've been asking myself.  I don't agree with the authors final assessment because I don't think we need to rethink our theology on feminism.  But he does raise some excellent points that if you are thinking the situation through to its end result makes perfect sense.  So, how can I vote for this woman with a clear heart before God?  I don't see how I can...part of me really wants to...but I just don't see how I can.

Sep. 25, 2008 - my vote

My vote in the election is not "who I'm voting FOR" but "who I'm voting against" - and primarily based upon pro-life issues.

I second the opinion of voting against. If Obama is voted in, America will take a giant leap towards socialism. Abortion will be pushed harder, homeschooling will be persecuted even more, and life for our children will be even more difficult. Like it or not, we do have a two party system in America. So if we don't vote for McCain, then we are in effect voting for Obama.
Blessings.

I truly understand the your position and have prayed over my response. The issue I am wrestling with, as I consider voting "for", is trusting God who I believe to be all sovereign. In Daniel 2:21 we are told that "It is He who changes the times and the epochs; he removes kings and establishes kings; He gives wisdom to wise men And knowlege to men of understanding." I don't believe that because God is sovereign I don't need to vote but rather because He IS sovereign I have the freedom to vote in a manner that is honest and in keeping with His character. I don't have to vote to protect the precious freedom that I have because it all comes from God and He alone is the one who sustains me. I want my vote to send a message however small that voice is. Submitted with humility. Like I said....I'm still praying, thinking, and waiting on God. It is His vote to cast through me.

Shalom

I second the first comment. While I can understand your reservations, it's not a vote between two conservative candidates. It's a vote between a set of people who believe in God, value life, value family, and value freedom, and between those that don't value life and our choices to live the lives of faith we wish to live, that would like the government to be entrusted to take care of our lives for us. That's my two cents worth.
