Fun Baby Shoe Project

Posted in Sewing

I made these little shoes awhile ago but then didn't get a chance to post about them.  I needed something for Peanuts feet as the weather started turning colder but didn't want to pay for the expensive ones.  The pattern was fun and easy.  The only problem I had was that they didn't fit my guy.  So, I gave them to a friend who has a newborn.

I wouldn't say the size is off but rather that Peanut makes up for lack of girth in his shoe and hat size.  It would be easy to adjust the size by redrawing the pattern but I haven't had time to do it.

I made these with some scraps of corduroy sandwiched between scraps of quilt batting.  You don't have to line them with quilt batting.  I just wanted to make them warm.

Dec. 23, 2008 - AWESOME........

job on the slippers! You are very talented! I am fairly new to sewing and am in the process of making a hand embroidered quilt for my younest daughter for Christmas. I just need to put the batting in and sew it up. Have you been sewing a long time?

Praying you and your family have a blessed holiday season!

Saved by grace and by HIS design~

Dec. 23, 2008 - Thanks Laura!

I've been sewing for nine years now. My husband bought me a sewing machine right before our first year anniversary. My first big project was a quilt. I used to do a lot more quilting until we had children and needed things for our home. For the past five years I've been mainly sewing home dec stuff (window treatments, etc) and clothes for the kiddos.

I mostly taught myself through library books, internet research and trial and error (lots of errors through the years). It is a fun and rewarding hobby. I love making beautiful things that are useful!

Will you share the pattern?! Cullen wouldn't fit in them either (took him to DR today, he's 20 lbs!), but they'd be a great baby gift! Good job!

You can click on the word "these" in the post and it takes you to the pattern. They are fun to make and really cheap if you use scraps from home.

Dec. 27, 2008 - Those are cute

Those are cute little shoes. Especially considering what little shoes go for - sewing them yourself has got to be a great deal too. It seems like to me one could alter the pattern and make slippers for everyone in the family. I'm not that experienced of a seamstress yet, but maybe I'll have to give it a try :) !
