Crash!
| Well I've got really bad news. Yesterday we dropped my sister off at a party and on our way back home we got into a wreck. It was an old country road so everyone was driving fast. We came up to a stop sign, mom looked both ways didn't see anyone so she drove on and midway into the intersection another car slammed full speed into the passenger door. Luckily we had a brand new car so all of the airbags shot out and none of us got hurt. Oh it was Mom driving I was sitting behind her and my baby sister was behind the passenger seat. We were all buckled in so none of us broke anything. Unfortunately the other person was an older lady in a real old car. She fractured a few bones, but now she is OK. Mom called the police and they got there soon. Since Clara, aka the baby, can't talk yet they just decided to be on the safe side and rushed us all in an ambulance to the emergency room. Since the one in the country does not have stuff for kids we went to the one in the city. Oh boy I got to ride up by the driver flying through a big city weaving through traffic at 60 miles per hour. Well we got there quick! Clara was just fine, and now we are recovering. Both vans are totalled, but oh well we're all OK. Mom and I are really sore but that is just complementary with a wreck. Praise Jesus we didn't get hurt bad, and pray for the other lady. Well lets hope I have better news next time. |

Fly-ball Boxes
Sorry I haven't blogged in a really long time. Well a lot of stuff has happened. We went on vacation to the Cherokee Indian Reservation in the Smoky Mountains!!! We actually camped there instead of a hotel or cabin. There was a creak running along side of our camp site so I did a lot of trout fishing! That was a lot of fun, and trout over a campfire tastes real good. Then when we got back my grandfather and I built two fly-ball boxes!!! They look just like the one I bought (except for the color). The boxes I built will shoot the ball farther than the store bought one. It was fairly easy once you got the hang of it. I would have to say the hardest part of it was cutting the foam padding, well and you had to get all the cuts perfect. I'll post pics of the boxes. Instead of selling the gourd stuff I'll make Fly-ball equipment. That will be easier, and hopefully more profitable. well that's all for now, I hope to post more than I have, anyway here are the pics. This is the first box we built open and closed face the latches on this one are a little bit different than on the other two.

This is the second box we built its cuts are better than the first. I also have pictures of open and closed face.

And this is the store bought one its latches are the same as box number two.

Finally we have the store bought box, on the left, compared to my better box( box number two) on the right.

More Box Stuff
OK I'm going to post the pics like I said, but first let me talk about the box a little. We didn't get the originally planned one. We bought a box off of EBay. It is One hole as you see in the pic. You can adjust how hard the ball comes out and how hard it is to make the ball come out. It has those option in case say you have a St. Bernard on your team, or you have a Chihuahua. the St. Bernard will hit the box a lot harder than the Chihuahua so you want to adjust the tension. Lets also say you have a Border Collie and a Great Pyrenees. The Border Collie will be running a lot faster than the Great Pyrenees, so you need to make the ball come out faster. So once I get my team I'm going to have to figure out how to get that stuff set up perfect so the team can go as fast as possible. and the way to do all that the box has a fold down front so you can get to all the springs and the screws. Also I'm going to need more than one box, so my grandfather ,a retired general contractor, has offered to help me build a few more boxes. Well anyway here are the pictures there is one with my sisters in it ages 1 and 10. |

Fly-ball Box
Sorry I haven't blogged in a long time. A lot of stuff has been happening. I got my fly-ball box!!!!!!!!!! I got the box yesterday( finished upon ordering) and Ruby can already go down the jumps , hit the box, and run back!!!!! Sorry I don't have any pictures because my camera broken. Michaela and I are meeting every week now to practice fly-ball together. We're probably doing the team through 4-H, so there is a lot to do with that. We have fliers for the fly-ball team so when we get our fly-ball club we can go ahead and send those out. Right now we are trying to figure out a team name. If you have any ideas please post them in a comment. I've got a camera on the computer so later I'll post a pic of the box. thats all for now. |

Lots of Things
Sorry I haven't blogged in a long time. Last week was my birthday, and for my birthday my parents bought me a fly-ball box!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It is a three hole box so that is great! Ruby has gotten real good at catching a tennis ball. Also the other day we went to a place called the Blueberry Festival. I took Ruby with me, and she did great!!! She had perfect behavior. Which was a great relief to me ,I had her on the leash of course, but still I was nervous, because it was her first time at anything like that!! She stayed right beside me, but she had to because it was shoulder to shoulder!!! So all that was a little scary. I now have thirty-two gourd plants, but no gourds. The Gourd plants are getting big though. Oh sorry I haven't posted the answer yet the answer to the poll question is the Doberman!! I have to go now I will post pics of the fly-ball box when I get it. See ya. |

Quick Update

GOURDLINGS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
| Yeah!!! I had just about given up on the gourds, but earlier I looked at the garden and there are six baby gourds!!! So I hope to have my shop up in a few months! Ruby is steadily getting better! There is a place called Ring Time it is a training group. I hope to take Ruby to it once she gets better. My friend ( Michaela Rascal owner) goes and says it is a lot of fun. This weekend we are going to put up a fence around the backyard. That way we can let Ruby out for a little bit and not have to worry about her. Well I guess that is all, Oh, I post pics of the gourds as soon as I can see you later. |

Getting better!!!

Bad News
I've got some real bad news. Ruby was hit by a car!!! It looks and feels like no bones are broken, but she is cut up pretty bad. She is also limping really bad in her back leg. Thank you Jesus she didn't get killed. She still has her normal personality. We called the vet to see what to do they said to bring her in if she gets worse. While we're watching her, we're giving her medicated baths, putting tea tree oil, and witch hazel on her cuts. We're hoping and praying everything turns out right. |

Gourds!
Whew! I just got in from planting my gourd garden! I hope to be able to make bird houses with the gourds and sell them on this craft web site called artfire! I might make wood bird houses and other small crafts too. It will help to get $funds$ for the flyball team. Here are some pics of the garden.

It will be a little while before I will be able to put anything on artfire. |

Vacation!!!
We got back from vacation a week or two ago. We went to Maryland Sheep and Wool, aka MS&W. Mom went for the wool I went for the sheep herding trials. The trials were really cool. I was amazed how the dogs were guided with whistles. Unfortunantely it was raining and are hands were full so I don't have any pictures. I had a box I was going to buy ,but the day I was going to get it someone else bought it. Oh well I guess I'll have to keep looking. Ruby stayed with my grandmaw that week, and really needs to practice catching the tennisball. Right now I haven't had much time to do it. I've been catching up on things. well that's all for now. |

New Kennel
Sorry I haven't blogged in a while. I am looking at flyball boxes online. I'm not sure which type of box to get there is such a variety! I just got a kennel for Ruby. She is not to sure about it. Here is a picture.

Flyball training is coming on well. Ruby can go down to the end of the jumps have a ball tossed to her and go back across them. I have to go beside her, but I don't need a leash. My friend Micheala is teaching her dog, Rascal, Flyball too. We are trying to start a team. |

Working with the goats
I'm having a hectic week. I don't have any pics of dad and me building the pin because we were working from five to ten p.m. yikes!!! While we were building the roof for the goat house, Ruby ran over the metal and got a deep cut on her paw pad!!! So every night we've been wrapping her paw in an ace bandage with Tea Tree ointment and peroxiding her foot throught the day. For now all flyball training has stopped. Now back to the goats they will already eat out of our hands!!! This is really good considering they wouldn't come any where near us at first. Today we have to give them dewormer. They're not sick they just need it when you first get them. Here are some pics of the goats at our house.

Goats!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Wow! We just bought three goats! This is soooo exciting! They are cashmere. They are a long hair goat so mom can spin their wool. We will pick them up in two weeks. This gives my dad and me enough time to build a pen. I will post pics of us building the pen and the goats. |

Two Jumps!!!!!!!

Flyball Jumps!
Yeah! I got my jumps for Flyball made! I will post some pics. Ruby is practicing just one jump right now. She is not scared at all of the jumps. She also knows that jumping over it is good, I reward her with a treat each time, so I already don't have to use the leash. I just point at the jump as I'm running past , and she jumps over it. Right now I'm working on the smallest jump height which is 8 inches. I also have a 4 in., 2 in., and a 1 in. board to raise and lower the height. The height in a competition depends on the smallest dog. So you just slide boards in to get as close as you can to the smallest dogs height. I got the directions for building these from Flyball Racing, The Dog Sport for Everyone By Lonnie Olson. It is a very good book that tells you how to start from scratch to being a professional Nafa ( North American Flyball Assosiation ) team. They use a lot of details and pics. It is good to read if you're going to start a team or do it just for fun. |

Training
I haven't cut the wood yet for two reasons. One is I had a busy weekend, and the other is I caught a cold. So I have been working on obedience. Ruby is doing great! She already knows sit, down, up, stay, and when fetching she knows to bring the ball to me! I reinforce everything with treats and petting.I do not use a clicker because I see no need for them. I just say good girl pet her and give her a treat. |
