Since feeling is first...

Right now I am reading The Brothers Karamazov. When I am done I must read The Wonderful Flight to the Mushroom Planet; To the Lighthouse; The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy; Big Money; The Wide Window; The Miserable Mill; Lorna Doone; Bad Twin; and Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead.

Figures I'd get in a reading mood right when I have the least time for it. Hmph. This is how I feel-

SATs in a week but I'm deliberately avoiding thinking about them. Also, I've been listening to three songs over and over-

Sea of Love by Cat Power

Bye Bye Blackbird by Peggy Lee
Corduroy by Jaymay

Don't bother with the videos, unless you like James Dean in which case definitely watch the Corduroy one.

And one of the best poems ever w ritten about Christianity maybe.

“God’s Grandeur”
Gerard Manley Hopkins

The world is charged with the grandeur of God.
        It will flame out, like shining from shook foil;
        It gathers to a greatness, like the ooze of oil
Crushed. Why do men then now not reck his rod?
Generations have trod, have trod, have trod;
        And all is seared with trade; Bleared, smeared with toil;
        And wears man's smudge and shares man's smell: the soil
Is bare now, nor can foot feel, being shod.

And for all this, nature is never spent;
        There lives the dearest freshness deep down things;
And though the last lights off the black West went
        Oh, morning, at the brown brink eastward, springs —
Because the Holy Ghost over the bent
        World broods with warm breast and with ah! bright wings.

I like to make connections. And in a weird way-

God's Grandeur (this poem)
The paper I'm writing on Kierkegaard and ethics
The Brothers Karamazov
The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane
Powder blue (the color)
Earl Gray tea
Sea of Love and Bye Bye Blackbird and Corduroy
Odysseus and Penelope
Desmond and Penny
Romans (the Bible)

Are all connected in my mind. In a kind of quiet, soft, melancholy way. You know.

This is a sad excuse for an entry but I need to go read now. Bye.

because deary, pesmond and sea of love and edward tulane are the Best Things Ever, and are even better then all those other Best Things Ever because they just ARE so there... and the whole world is just one big ball of sadness ah well... i feel like a pessimist today.

and on another note I think I just want to glomp poor little harry because in looking to see if Flamel has THE Mark Of The Beast, i read a sad little bit with sad little harry, and I think that a big hug is in order, y/n? U can hug Allllyosha and I'll hug Harry. 'kay.
