• Feb. 22, 2009 - Long Time No Blog.
It has been a while since I stopped writing my blog posts, so I’m going to have to tell you a lot this time.
At Cadets, I’m now a corporal, and I’m am given higher ranking status, and am allowed to command flights. I am, as they say it, “A Flight Sergeant in a Corporals skin.” What this means is that even though I’m only a Corporal, they will treat me as the rank I deserve, because I’m only twenty days younger than our flight sergeants.
I’m beginning my novel with the help of Daniel Schwabauer and his curriculum called “One Year Adventure Novel” He gives beginning and experienced writers’ tips on how to write a novel in one school year. He says you should do a lesson every second day, but I do one every day so to finish my book as soon as possible.
I also joined a youth group, and a drama class, most of which my friends also go to. After Drama, I stick around and do school while my sister does music, and I can’t wait for next week because one of my friends does not expect me to be there at the time he is supposed to do music.
I read the Inheritance Cycle once now, and now I am reading them again to see if I can get some hints on what is going to happen to Eragon and Saphira in the fourth and last book, which I heard will have a green dragon on the cover, and I believe it will be looking at you from the cover; like in Eldest.
Well this is all I can write for now, so I will see you all next week, and I hope you all had a fantastic year so far.
Till next time,

• Dec. 5, 2008 - A Week at the Grandparents, Again.
Well, because of contractors working on our house, we had to spend anouther week at the grandparents. Bailey, their dog, is now officially 100% used to me, he even slept beside me last night. i did not bring Caspian to the grandparents, its to much work to bring him back and forth.
I finished Faractions in Life of Fred. today I moved onto Decimals and Presents, so i will be working on that for the next little while.
I am going home today, and I will be able to see my Caspian again. I've missed him so much!

• Nov. 28, 2008 - A Week With My Grandparents
Since last teusday I've been at my grandparents house, with my new rabbit named Caspian. Caspian and my grandparents chiuahua named Bailey have had a blast together... or at least Bailey has, hes never sure if Caspian is a dog or a Rabbit. This is because Caspian is the same color and size as Bailey, even ear size correct!
My schoolwork has not falen behind, and neither has my sleep. We've had conterasctors working in our bathrooms and they kept turning on and off the power, so thats why my blog for last week was never writen. But at least without any power i can still spend time with Caspian, who's curiosity is never satisfied.
I'll be at my Grandparents till my mom says its ok to live in our house, because we've had no water or power for the last litte bit.
Until next week,

• Nov. 14, 2008 - I have a NEW Talent
I, Everett Ratcliffe, have discovered a new talent to add to my long list of talents... WEB DESIGNING!!!
I have made two web pages today, both on my siblings Chaeli and Greyson. But one isn't up and running yet, but you can see the one on Greyson at www.ratcliffeblessings.com/everett/codeindex.html and there you go, MY first webpage!!!!! YAY!!!
Well, I did not go to much parades last weekend, but I went to the one in Alexandria, Ontario. And afterwards I went to my grandparents to finish up school. Their little chiuahua kept bitting my cadet pants and boots. But all in all it was a very good week.
Tonight I'm going to Youth Group to do a scavenger hunt, I hope my friends are there this time. ;)
Well, I gotta go, I have a busy Week ahead of me.

• Nov. 7, 2008 - A Week that ends in Parades
Wow... this week has been a very packed week, but all my works done and I still have to do two or three parades this weekend. Yes, Im IN parades. This is going to be my third parade I've been in since I've joined Cadets a year ago. Hehehehehehehehehehe....
I've discovered a way the school board is dumbing their students down... NOT alowing them a program that WORKS. Example, in math they give you a teacher that gives you a few lessons and HUNDREDS of questions. Well, in Life of Fred, you can get into math, not just soak up information and spew it back out. Life of Fred is AWSOME!!!!! O yeah!!!
In Cadets this week, I, Everett Ratcliffe, was promoted to Corpral!!!! I know have power, POWER!!!! MUHHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!sorry 'bout that, I just had to do that.
Well, this is going to be a very interesting year, but thats all that happened tis week... but next week will be even better. Yes I know that is hard to imagine. ;)

• Oct. 31, 2008 - A Different Begining
You all remember that Survival Weekend I told you about? We had a COLLOSAL rain storm and slept in cabins all weekend long. Yup, so if I crash on a desert island, Im finished. Unless, of coarse, if theres a air bace on that island.
I started a new math curriculum today called "Life of Fred." Its sort of like a story, But there is times you have to help him by solving questions for him, MATH questions. Fred teaches at Kittens University...At the age of 5 1/2... smart kid. So far Ive done two lessons, and ts VERY good... I mean you can actually understand this compared to Saxon: Algebera 1/2. And that for me is amazing.
Tomorow the Cadets and I are going to sell Poppies!!!YAY!!! I did this last year, and it was so fun!.
Well I will write next week!

We didn't fall behind this week....YAY!!! We managed to keep up with the time, just my V.A.S has to finish a lesson in math then we can go CAMPING!!!!
Right now I'm listening to my favotite band...CASTING CROWNS!!!! They Rock!!!!!

• Oct. 17, 2008 - Yet Again
This week we fell behind....yet again. We need to do three days worth of sience and bible studies tomorrow. It was not entirly my fault, yet again it was my V.A.S's fault(notice you see her title often in my blog ).
Today when I took my dog named Poppy on a walk, I decided to jog around the block... and after I did, my whole body went on vacation.... EVERYTHING HURT!!! My lungs, my legs, my head.... .
As you can see it was not a very comfortable day.... but the week was a week were I've been dragged behind by a weight named "Sister". There is not much I can say about this week, because nothing exiting or worth talking about that happened this week.
Don't worry I'll have a week worth writing about next week... I PPROMISE!
Until that week happens, or maybe before,

• Oct. 14, 2008 - Thanksgiving and Voting....
Sorry this was a BIT late... we had a bit of a fast week.
This week my V.A.S and I did our first vote with the student vote program. The students vote, the people at Student Vote count up the votes and show it ono the news...cool, eh? I will not tell you who I voted for... No, not even my V.A.S's vote. It was exiting, ME...a fourteen year old being able to vote!!!!
THe last two days, Sunday and Monday, we visited our relatives for Thanksgiving. On Sunday we visited my Dad's side of the family, then on Monday, my Mom's side. My brother, whom is HIGHLY alergic to carrots (weird thing to be alergic of), managed to eat some carrots and was very sick all afternoon on Monday.
Personally, even though the rest of the family had a bad week, I found it to be a exelent week...from eating to sleeping, and everything in between.
We couldn't do any French this week, because our Rosseta Stone (the program we use for french) is broken, some sort of block that makes sure we cant use it, or something like that...Mom said it was a Trogan, but I seriously dont think a man in Greek battle armor can fit into a CD-ROM.
That's all for this week, and I'll try will write next week.

• Oct. 5, 2008 - A Week Not Worth Remembering
This is one of those weeks. Im surwe you had on at some point in your life.
We fell behind.... ..... IT WAS NOT MY FAULT!!!
Well, you see....Mckenzie, my V.A.S(very anoying sister) slept in till eleven EVERY DAY THIS WEEK! No problem, just that I got all my work done...EXEPT for the stuff we have to do together. Such as bible, sience, and reading. It dosn't sound like much...But it is for me! I cant standd being on a stand still for three quarters of the day. Im one of those people who wake up....and I mean WAKE UP and GO! I wake up early and start working first thing in the morning, and buckle down ad WORK!
It dosn't help that my sister finds many many many ways to get out of work. Examples;
"I HAVE TO WALK THE DOG!!"
"I COULDN'T GET MY WORK DONE BECAUSE WE HAD VISITORS!!!"
And on and on and on......This list could out do The Lord of the Rings for pages.
Anyways...I got most of my work done, just a bit of catching up to do. Last Saturday we made Puzzle Pouches with our friends. A puzzle poch is a game pouch the Natives used on long rainy days, they fastened a item inside, then everyone tried to guess what it is. My puzzle pouch is small, walet sized. I made a project for myself...and by the end of this year I will make myself a Backpack sized one!
Well, see you all soon!

• Sep. 26, 2008 - I Am Almost Swimming in Subjects.
Wow, I seriously dont think public schoolers do this much school in four weeks. Want me to list it out?
So far in this school year I've... Memorized three bible verses by heart, two parts of my sience books, studied over 1500 years of Canadian history, studied some forms of goverment, did eighteen lessons in Creative Writing, wrote BY HAND twelve pages of the Hobbit, compleated eight spelling tests, compleatd a Native Peoples Assinement, on monday I have a Vikings project due. In November I have a powerpoint presentation on the history of the air cadets, done eleven lessons in math; plus four from another book. All in FOUR WEEKS! Woah.
Its been a tough week, and my friends have only four subjects a day, while I have... Minimum 6, Maximum 12. Just goes to show that home schoolers can do much more than the required, because we dont slow down for slow students and we dont speed up for fast students (like myself ), we work at a comfortable pace... AND WE GET THINGS DONE. (and no my mother is not paying me to write this.)
Well, gotta get back to work, because if I dont finish in time, I dont go to youth group. So see you all later!
Till later,

• Sep. 19, 2008 - A New Week.
Well... Its been a very topsy-turvy week.
My mom had a massive migrain on wensday afternoon, and since half the stuff we do is with mom's guidance, we fell behind. The next day we went to one of our many homesschool frends to work there, but we fell behind because we left some stuff at home. so today we have to go TOTTALY HARDCORE HOMESCHOOL!!! Whatever that means.
Its 10:11 am now, and already I've done French, Typing, Copywork, And my Blog. Meanwhile my sister wont start work because my mom is in bed with another migrain, therefor my mom can't tell her to start working, and Im 'not her boss' as my sister says way to often.
Tonight I have to go to one of the best youth groups I have ever been in- well its the only one I've been in. Some of my schooling friends go there, and so do some of my homeschooling friends. Lucky me.
Well, gotta get back to some other subjet such as math or history, or no youth group for me tonight!
Till next week, yours truly,

• Sep. 12, 2008 - What a Week
Well... This was a exiting week.
Last Teusday I went back to cadets. There was lots of new recruits... and that was our WORST drill night I have ever seen. We were (except me of course... ) leaning forward while we marched, marching like there was no tomorow, and talking in flight. Yeah fellow cadets, thats how you get new kids to join. Then our new Second Leiutenant decided to be nice (and she was) and gave out free chocolate muffins and Coca-Cola, with all the caffine. Seriously, our squadron (except me...) cant deal with sugar, everyone had a mild sugar rush.
In school this week we had our first ever Homeschool Substitute Teacher! Grandpa was the sub- because my little sister had to go to the hospital. We also did lots of cool things like reading 'Echohawk', which I strongly recommend to anyone who needs something interesting to read. We also did typing lessons... Fancy that, public school dosen't teach you how to type, and yet expect you to type essays and reports and speechs... and Im nearly at my goal of 35 words a minuit.
If you have any questions... just add a comment or message me!
See you all next week!

• Sep. 5, 2008 - My First Week At LHH Academy
Hello Everybody!
Well, my first official week of homeschooling since grade five. I don't remember back then. My mind got sort of brainwashed after two years of waking up a 6AM every day so everything is a little jumbled - but I remembered that it had to do with... what is that word?... Oh yeah, fun! (and SLEEP - dont' forget that! )
Anyways, so far so good. Just need to get rid of those very loud siblings and just maybe I could concentrate. Just a thought.
I learned how to do long division by hand... yup, that's what you forget how to do in high school. They say ' Use your calculator for anything that is too hard'... Well, I sort of forgot how to do division without a calculator - so mom taught me long division. Thanks Mom!
Well, thats all I'm going to write for now, so next week I'll add to a new blog post.
Come back soon!
